It's a very special game !!10611

Vegeta's Final Flash from Bruges, Belgium says (24/Oct/2002):
I must say that this game is indeed very special, because it's a 3-3-battle.Further more, I think that Bandai is experimenting on us, every time they want to develop a new game for the psx, because , until now, every game was different. Now, this game has a story mode wich gives it a very strong point. And the cool thing is, that you have a background, with some good music playing, and on top of that , there are pictures sliding over the screen while the storyteller is talking, unfortunately it's in Japanese, but that really doesn't matter. The controls are quite simple, because you only have a defend- and a punch button. At first, it sounds very bad, but it isn't the game is really cool even though it's alot different from all the previous games. The music is nothing to be ashamed of, it's a good type of music to listen to when you're fighting. But here's a letdown: when u punch or kick, it sounds more like gunshots than the real thing, and that's probably the baddest part of the game. Also, the landscapes are very poor, you only have two of them, one on earth, and one on Namek, and the cliffs have a weird square-like shape, but those are more details, they don't harm the playing at all.Another good thing is , you have about 35 characters, that's right, but not 35 different, for example: you can play as normal Goku, and SS-Goku, or even SS3-Goku, same thing for Vegeta and the others, except the bad guys. When your character(s) have the better hand in a battle, the powerbar turns fully to your side and then your controlling character( you can switch charcters while playing, and then the computer takes over them, so you play with one at the time)fires off a cool blast, and when your energie is fully charged , you can fire off a different attack (each character has two different attacks), my favorite attack is SS3-Goku's XX-large Kamehameha-attack, that one's really cool!!But you can't fire off energie rays at any time, for that , your side of the powerbar MUST have the upperhand and win, but the bad thing is , you tire out very quikly, so you must charge energy very often.Unlike the other games, heren you can punch your enemy sky high, or kick him far away, or just punch him back to the floor again, you don't have that in the other games, plus you can also decide wether you want to fly normal , or superfast with energy around you.So now the rating: this game looks stupid when you first look at it, but it really isn't, it's a great game, but you'll have to import it or somehow manage to order it from the internet. DBZ-fans should definetely get this game(keeping in mind that it's not like the other DBZ games you've played, this one's different), I promise you that it won't be a letdown.

The most electrifying dragon ball z game ever!!!!!3500

Mitchell Faulkner II from snellville, Ga USA says (16/Aug/2001):
i have this game and it is a great game compared to the other two dragonball games out there ( UB22 and final bout) the sound in the game is quiet when you start there is no sound at the character selection screen i don't like that umm the camera view is perfect when you play one player but two players thats a different story in one player mode you almost have infinite free motion but in two player mode you are limited to the size of your tv screen so evassive monuvers are impossible when playing against 2 players and you alone but on 1 player i can take on three computers at one time its easy also i would seriously like to say that what the other reviews didn't say is that you cannot do ki energy attacks (big ones i mean) manually they are automaticly done for you when you win the power balance fight and then the ki is random the vioces are ok and the backgroung is just slopped on there like for example when you have super saijin goko 3 and he does his huge kamehameha the back ground and the ground itself is not dameage now any one that watches dbz knows that the mountian whould be gaon and the graound whould have a huge crater but oh well.and also they should have had yamcha tein and chaozu at least cuz they were in some of the saga's namely napa and vegita but oh well the game is very easy to me once you learn every thing i can beat the whole game on hard by myself alone with krillin and on the specials if they didnt make me have to pick vegetto and things like that.moves are a series of repetetion which gets boring after awhile but still fun to look at but on the positive side the power balance is sure genious that allows the fight to have the potential to last like te battles in tha cartton if your winning then you miss up it moves back to the other side then you have to do it all over again.and one more thing i love this game despite its bad views at least they took the time i am right now developing my own dragon ball game at home with 3d rad and true space C++ and visual basic and a little direct X 7 builders and i am hunting for extra help on programming models and animation if any one out there is intereseted i can be reached at Mason607< remove me > at hotmail.com just email me i am serious been in development for 3 months now i need to talk to funimation about it but that is another subject any way email if any out there in cyber space is a 3d animation god or programming god or just has some good ideas that they would have liked to see in the dragon ball z titles that were released thankyou.

A Fantastic Game for its Age7459

Devin from Nova Scotia, Canada says (23/May/2002):
First, I'll say that I'm a big big fan of Dragonball Z, and this game lives up to the TV show nicely. Being about 5 years old, what can you expect from a video game's graphics? Okay, so maybe Final Bout may look better, but it's not. Believe me(I havent played Ultimate Battle 22 so I dont know how good it is). The voices in FB are I think pathetic. The drawings aren't the best(Frieza has a big head)and the game just isn't that fast-paced. The characters walk so slow. However, I do like the combos, and that you can do energy blasts manually. Now, in Dragonball Z Legends, the voices are very good. I have 4 DBZ movies in Japanese (Brolly, The 3 Super Saiyans with androids 14 and 15, Janemba, and Bojack) and the voices in the game are much like the voices in the movies. In Legends, yes, the gameplay may look bad, but the drawings I think are up to par for the show's drawings. This game is very fast-paced, and the characters move fast enough. The 'connects' and combos are done nicely, just like the show. The energy blasts are pathetic, until you get the power balance bar up. Goku's spirit bomb is great, as well as the famous Kamehameha. When Goku goes Super Saiyan 3, the Kamehameha is HUGE. Some take quite long to do, like the spirit bomb, and I dont like that. Near the end of the game, when you use Trunks and Goten, they fuse into SS3 Gotenks. That is done very well. The stories in between fights are cool, they'd be better if I understood them. One last thing. For all you people that say Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu, SS4 Goku and so on say that they should be in the game, thats wrong. First of all, SS4 Goku isn't in DRAGONBALL Z, he's in GT. Second, Yamcha, Tien, and Chiaotzu shoudn't be in the game for two reasons:1. THEY ARE INCREDIBLY WEAK. THEY WOULD NEVER STAND A CHANCE. 2. They die in the show, so they'd only be in the game for like the first fight, which would be pointless. However, I would like to see Tien's Tribeam attack, but thats a mere inconvenience. All in all, this game deserves a perfect 10 of 10. Thank you for your time.

The Game Remains the Same11072

Sellers from SC, USA says (8/Nov/2002):
I have dragonball z legends, and let me tell you it is nothing special. It takes you from the battle with raditz to the final battle with kid buu. It has a lot of characters, but you won't be able to tell the difference between them, other than the fact that the stronger characters in dbz will kick your butt no matter how good you are at the game. The fighting style is terrible. The characters all have the same moves. The way to win is by having the upper hand in battle, which is impossible to get because your other two allies just run around getting killed. If you do manage to win the power struggle you'll be forced to watch a cheap animation of a character doing a special move (you can't do these moves while your fighting which sucks.) The first time you see it, it may seem cool but it gets tiring watching the endless animation over and over again. To take down your opponents life you have to win the power struggle, and to kill them you have to win 3 times. Multiply this by 3 opponents and 30 second animations and you'll be watchig the same animation for at least four and a half minutes of the battle. The cheapest thing by far is that you can beat the entire game by tapping up twice and hitting the punch button, and doing this repeatedly. There is absolutely no depth to this game. Just wait until dragonball z budokai comes out for playstation 2. It will make this game look about as powerful as Roshi's turtle.

The best DragonBall Z game out there21497

Alex(ander) from Milwaukee,WI says (16/Apr/2003):
Simply put, this is the best DragonBall Z game to ever grace any platform, with the possible exception of its Sega Saturn counterpart, which is actually better in some aspects. I know this because I have both versions. Don't be discouraged though, the PSX version is awesome. The graphics are much better than, say, Final Bout and UB22 (both of which I have). This game has a rather dull soundtrack though, as it only plays the same couple of songs throughout the course of the whole game. However, this game does use the original japanese voice actors' voice as well as the japanese narrator's (you japanese DBZ/GT fans know what i'm talking about). The replay value is very high, as I play the game practically every day. The levels are big, although not nearly as big as in the Saturn version (in the Saturn version, you can fly higher and fly farther away from your opponent). Another thing that would attract DBZ fans is the amount of playable characters, such as Son Gokuu, Bejiita, Ginyu Tokusentai, Suupaa Saiyajin 3 Son Gokuu, etc. (if you think i'm on drugs for spelling the names like that i'm not; I can read japanese and these are in fact the actual spellings of the names). Dare I say this is my favorite game on any system? I would have to say..............YES!! This is definetly one of the most satisfying games I have ever played.

The Best DBZ Game I Have Ever Played!!!!!!!!1873

Lil' D from Conway, Arkansas, USA says (27/Jan/2001):
Sup!!! I gonna start off and say that this is a very tight (fun) game to play!!! I am a DBZ fan and it is just like the cartoon series!! I knew I had to have it. The game has everybody which makes the game well. Second the combos that you can do to an opponent are nice, and the finishers (meteo attack are cool and are exactly like the game. Third, the most important of all games, is the gameplay. Dragonball Z to me is a FAST paced cartoon and the game corresponds to that. The moves are simple, but once you get used to them such as dodging right when you are about to be attacked, they become fun. The only drawbacks to the game is the graphics in the background and their voices. I understand that because it's only a 16 bit game, so what more do you expect. The game would be A lot fun if you could do your own meteo attacks on your opponent but those meteo attacks are nice to see. Above all it is a very fun game especially if you play 3 on 3 with another player. There are more good points to game but I think I said enough. Last thing before I go, Dragonball Z Legends is the best one of the 3 games they have out now (UB 22 and Final Bout) I was reading the reviews about those games and the people that got them were not happy about them!!!!! I'm out Holla!!!!!!!

A must buy for any DragonBallZ/GT fan!9906

StevenLP from Lakecity Fl USA says (28/Sep/2002):
I must say this game rocks, the gameplay is amazing and it follows the series almost to every major battle.I sort of enjoyed the graphics nothing to brag about. Z campaigne was great but i enjoyed the 30 battles of SP mode. With 35 characters this game is the best. I own Final Bout and UB:22 but when i got this i was blown away on the first stage. If you don`t own this game get it! There is no replacement. The only flaw is the some of the series characters and movie characters do not exist on this game, you know Brolly, Raditz, Cooler, King Cold, Minoshin, Kaoshin Etc. The only one i wish was on there is Gogeta thats pretty much all i even have to say bad about this game. There are millions of combinations,Every time i play i try a new one. i always here about a hidden levels mode. But it`s gibberish and the only way to get new characters is Z Campaigne mode. I have been looking for gameshark codes for hl mode or some hidden character all i know is 35 characters and one of the tightest games ever made. The Ki waves are alright but could have used improvement. The Landscapes are great i like to smash people into buildings on SP mode. It`s to great to stop talking but i gotta go.And remember it`s Kamehameha not Kamayamaya.

Im abot to tell you why this game is exelent and awesome12010

goten from u.s.a. iowa,waterloo says (29/Nov/2002):
First off everything youve heard about this games graphics is not true it has awesome graphics unlike final bout....... Very cool signature moves he coolest is super kamehameha wave. Its fun factor is so cool. Some info about the game is you have a lot of charecters to choose from the game starts at the Veget saga and it ends at the buu saga the first person you fight is nappa and the last person you fight is kid buu.Its sound is very cool you actually wont notice it because youl be playing the game.this game was not made in 1996 on the cover it says it was made in 1997.you can have three people against who ever your fighting.when you gbeat the game you get a mode called sp mode it's not really survival mode but youl see if you get the game I,LL go ahead and some of then playable characters vegeta, goku, trunks, gogeta, gohan, goten, trunks, piccolo, gotenks, krillen.this game is very cool fun and has very good details just try to get this game you won't play any other game you have instead of this . this game is just too cool.ive only beat the game once and its already so so fun. at the begining of the game theirs an awesome 3-d dragon and no its not shenron.if you have any questions e-mail me ive got the answers.

I think the game is ok but could be alot better41071

Peter Liddell from Glasgow says (29/May/2004):
I got this game about two years ago and it was ok apart from the graphics and gameplay. the thing i really hate is the special moves because u have to wait until a little bar goes to your end for u to do a special move and you have to kick and shoot out a stupid little beam that hardly gets the meter up 1mm. The game itself is good but the other DBZ games are better. I also hate it when you complete the game and you get to go all the characters and they have only one special move and its the same thing over and over and over again like in the story mode when i was fighting DABURA(i think thats his name) well his special move is a flamethrower thing and it kind of takes a while for him to do it so it would generally take u quite while to complete the game but i completed it in a couple of hours. Back to the subject of moves when VEGETA is in versus mode he does the BIG BANG move and the FINAL FLASH but in the story mode he only does the BIG BANG.the music is ok but i didnt really listen to it because i listened to my own music. the thing i would like to know is how do u save the game? if anyone knows then email me how to and if u have cheats email them to.

Fun or Flop?209

Trevor Sell from Tyrone, Pa, USA says (24/Aug/2000):
I like Dragonball Z and when i first saw Dragonball Z Legends, I thought what is this? I started playing it and once I got the hang of the game it was great. Yes, at first glance it looked pretty bad in graphics, but what can you expect from a game that is so old. The fun factor is amazing. I especially like how many characters you have for the two player mode after you beat the game. The sound is a little bad. The punches and kicks sound more like a jackhammer. There isn't a lot of different music in the game, but I hardly notice the music anyway. The gameplay is different to any game I've seen. It is a little confusing when you can't see who you are in two player when the view is so far away. Once you get the hang of it, it's really fun. This game is very one-of-a-kind. I've never seen anything close to it. The beginning movie is pretty cool. I like the 3D dragon. I also like the different attacks that the characters have and how the game follows the story line of Dragonball Z in little sequences between battles. Overall, it's a really good and fun game that I recommend to those Dragonball Z fans if you don't mind ordering it from the internet.

A f£$%&!@ beast of a game20678

SS3 Vegito from England, Liverpool says (6/Apr/2003):
Out of all the DB games this is the hardest. In my opinion, this is second best to Final Bout, it can have six characters playing at once and the battle system is phenomanal, even if it was made in 1997, you attack your opponent with punches and kicks untile the Power-Balance gauge fills blue/red and then you can attack with a kick ass Special Blast. The CG animation in the opening movie is excellent but the in-game graphics are probably the poorest I've ever seen. The camera isn't bad as the $#< remove me > at !e in Psychic Force but is sometimes annoying. They're many characters in the game but you could get a little peeved after seeing Gohan, Vegeta, Gotenks and Trunks in the intro-movie but are not in the game yet but even stranger is that the characters I've just menioned are printed in the booklet. The music is very good and there is a lot of sound FX. If you are easily enraged by getting something that is not in your language (I bought this on Japanese import) then you should stay well away from this game, even if you are the world's biggest DB fan otherwise, buy it because it's 100% brilliant.

A reccommended game for even players who hate DBZ7441

Matt from massachusetts, USA says (21/May/2002):
I will rate the game by catagories to make it easier to see why it is great.

graphics: Horrible. Close up the animation looks 16 bit and the arena looks like it was rushed to be made.

sound: Average. Not the greatist sound I've ever heard nor the best music but with the action going on, you'll ignore it.

control: Good. Odd though, once you get used to it the game will become much easier to play.

gameplay: Perfection. 3 vs 3 action, no not tag, all out battle. Stratagy plays a major roll in when to run, power up, kaoken(if your non SSJ goku, if not just get an aura) also, ganging up, postion for combos, and which team mate to cover all goes together for a great game.

Overall: If you are a person who only looks at graphics, stay away. If you are a person who loves games even without the graphics, GET IT. This game has the best action from any game ive ever played, and ive played alot.

note: i read a review on this game, the catagories were graphics, sound, music and control. WHAT ABOUT GAMEPLAY. i read another review that reviewed it by it's gameplay and it did good.

The Best4745

Big_DBZ_Fan64 from UK says (14/Dec/2001):
Dragonball Z Legends is the best Dragonball Z game I have ever played. I am a big fan of DBZ. This game has a good selection of fighters to choose from like Vegeta, Majin Buu, Cell, Frieza, Goku, Nappa, Gohan, Trunks etc. It's awesome. The gameplay is cool and easy to learn. Once I started playing it I got the hang of it. It follows the story of Dragonball Z and sagas. It goes from the Saiyan saga up to the Majin Buu saga. It has other great levels like the Cell Games and Androids saga first fighting Dr.Gero and Android 19 and finally on to the 3 other Androids (Android 17, Android 18, Android 16). I really love this game it's awesome. The only thing is in 2 player mode the fighters are far away but that doesn't bother me I played games that had fighters fighting far away. The fun factor is totally fun. It's the best fighting game I've seen so far. I recommend this game to all you DBZ fans and fighting game fans (even if you're not a DBZ fan). You don't want to miss out on this great Dragonball Z game it's a collector's item even for $45 or £45. It's a bargain. Buy this.

Street Fighter, Tekken, what?7008

Tyler Parsons from Augusta,GA,USA says (20/Apr/2002):
  graphics-6.4 sound-8 story-10- funfactor-10
first of all, being a big fan of anime and games, you get nervous when you play these types. Is it going to mimic the anime, or is it going to be something else? Is it going to follow under my expectations,or will it excede them? Folks, with all do respect, Dragonball Z legends, even being an imported game, deserves a 10 out of 10, it enters the land of gaming tyrants like Street Fighter and Tekken and believe me when i say, it comes out swinging. Sure, the graphics being on the first year of playstation, seem to totally be outdated, but not truly horrible, considering an amazing 6 characters on the field at a time with well over 30dbz characters from the saiyan saga to buu. The sound, while not perfect, it still feels like your watching the show itself, such as Goku and Vegeta arguing over the fusion of Vegitto, as well as the good old KAMEHAMEHA. Folks, indeed this is the greatest dbz game yet, until infogrames makes my dreamed online dbz game for ps2, this is as good as Anime to games get. GET THIS GAME NOW! IT"S WORTH IT!

BETTER THAN BUDOKAI AND FINAL BOUT PUT TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!21981

SS3 Vegito from England, Liverpool says (22/Apr/2003):
Out of all the DB games, this is the hardest and yet the best. It can have six characters fighting at time and the battle system is simple and fun. DBZ Legends is cool36209

JJ from South Carolina, USA says (28/Nov/2003):
I've liked dbz for a while and have seen all the sagas. I like legends because it is the only game I've played that really is on the same level as the show. Unlike other games, Legends doesn't change scenes, music, it lets you play all of the characters from the show, and it lets you go through all the sagas. I think the graphics are good because I'm an old school gamer that grew up playing games from the 80's and early 90's. The sound is good because it’s just like the Japanese show. The gameplay is the best of all the dbz and dbgt games I have played. It's 3 vs. 3 and during battles you can rotate between which character you play and which ones you fight. You also get to choose almost all of the characters from the show. The Legends disk I have has lasted for forever and works well, and I've never had game problems. The game to me is a lot of fun even after you beat it because you can play the sagas over again or fight against a friend using the characters you've unlocked. The game is well worth the price.

the low-down8827

ssj3 gotenks from Montana, USA says (3/Aug/2002):
Flipping through channels looking for something to watch I came across Dragonball Z. Intantly hooked, recording every episode, I know the story line from who killed who and just about every other detail. So from this DBZ Legends overall pretty much the best clone of the series i've seen. Execpt the story line zips right to the fights, when it would have been a heck of alot better to chase the enemies down or run from dodoria or vegeta. And the fight with friezza was a downer just to see go directly to his ultimate form. I was also looking forward to fight cyborg friezza and his father, but it goes straight the androids. The fight with the androids was messed up for the fact that goku was fighting his heart disease trunks was in the future and 16,17 and 18 were woke after 20 was destroyed and 19 was damaged. The cell games has the same scenario as friezza. The majin Buu saga wasn,t to bad. Overall its absoulutley an amasing game with the given that you get to beat the stuffing out of Dobora with gohon, hehe.

The Best game Bandi came up with4217

Mystic Gohan from Planet Earth, Long Island New York says (31/Oct/2001):
This is the best game out of all the Dragonball Z GT games ever created and I played all of the Dragonball Z GT games that have came out but the arcades and I own Dragonball Z Ultimate Battle 22 and Dragonball Final Bout. I got legends yesterday for my birth day and played it for long time. In my opinion its like a RPG witch I like and fighting game in one! I could of beat the game with just one character by myself but I go by the whole Dragonball Z series. My favorite stage was the Buu saga and Cell games I thought they acutally gave some compition out of all the fighters. I also like when you beat the game you get a secret mode that mixes the whole series up and you fight random fighers like Nappa and Vegeta vs. Freiza. Well I think the gameplay is great for sure yo and the sounds are good to. I thought they cold of added more characters like Yamcha, Tien, Radditz, and Zarbon but other then that this game is phat!

Read if your a mild fan and/or enjoy a fun game!2472

Dale from Illinois, USA says (11/May/2001):
Now im not a INSANE FANATIC(Ex. BEST GAME EVER!!!), but i do really like DBZ, I also like games if they're fun, not annoying, not too hard or easy, and the graphics are ok or excellent. I read the reviews and everybody said it was good good good. Well I got it, and its alright, it is like the show as far as flying and punching is concerned. What's also nice is you can choose 3 guys at a time and switch between who you control. You don't neccessarily hurt anyone with hits or kicks, just move the "power balance bar". The controls are terrible, manual ki shots are teeny little yellow balls and thats it. Getting control of your character is very hard and makes some levels down right impossible. If you're a die hard fan, then yes, get it, but if you want a fun fight game, get GT, or this.
