What's wrong with this game? |
| John from Iowa says (30/Dec/2002): |
There is nothing wrong with Dragonball Final Bout. The gameplay in this game is only slow in 2 player mode. Everyone says that they move slow, they move slow if you only try to walk with them, but using dash they move very fast. I think that the American version of the game is slower than the Japanese one. The American version takes forever to pull off a punch. The Japanese version however is alot faster in pulling off combos, ki blasts, punches and kicks. The only thing i don't like about this game is that you can't go SSJ during battle, you have to select a different character. If you are a DBZ/DBGT fan i would reccomend this game, but if you can't decide between the DBZ game i would tell you to get Budokai.
**I have the Japanese version of the game and i don't know how to get into build-up mode, can someone help me? If you can, e-mail me.

Enjoyable |
| Damien from USA, New York says (13/Dec/2002): |
Well, Introducing DBGT too DBZ fans was great, I myself enjoyed this game alot. I would have enjoyed it more if my game didnt come messed up in the mail, my game had no training mode or Freeza and Picollo... but, Thems the brakes! overall the graphics amazed me and I love the intro. The people hired too do the voices did a horable job with Vegeta and Gokus voice so... i gave a minus 1 for that. I liked how they did life with 2 life bars, so i added one for that. This game although isnt a game you could play 25 times and still be loving it so.... thats my review

don't kid yourselves, dbgt wasn't good at all |
| The Ronnerman from atl, ga says (9/Dec/2002): |
c'mon guys. anyone who has played this game and has any sense knows it's not good. I bought the english version new in 97 and although the voiceovers (and inclusion of lv 4 goku) was kinda neat, gameplay and graphics were horrible evan for their day. ppl think it's cool cause they have a mod chip and they think they have somehting special b/c they have an import game, when the english version is much harder to find...I bought this game new for $34 and sold it this year for $70 cash...I made out like a bandit even tho I know it's worth more...I gave it a 4 cause it IS dragonball GT after all, but that's about it.

Totally awsome but it could have more. |
| Drew from Hartford, USA says (9/Dec/2002): |
First of all this games is awesome. The moves are sweet, especially when you are versusing your friend and then just before you unleash your full power Kamehameha and you say" Say goodnight" is just an great feeling. However, the game could've have had more characters like Bebi Vegeta or Tien. Also there is not enough energy attacks, like for one why doesn't Vegeta have the Galik Gun? Despite these slight set backs, this game is a total blast to play. The first time I played, I just used Vegito and destroyed anything in my way. This game will last a while and be fun practically everytime you turn it on. If you haven't played it,GO RENT IT!!!! For those who have seen the magic ogf this game, they know what I'm talking about. So as I said before this ame is toally awsome but it needs a little more. Anyway for you guys who like DBZ and have a one of the playstations, theres no excuse to pass this up

King Of Games |
| Goku234 says (17/Nov/2002): |
Dragon Ball Final Bout rules. The intro at the start is one good intro to put it lightly. You can play one player and get through all the characters and all the secret characters. Whoever you fight depends an who you are. The graphics are great as well,I probably liked them so much because they're 3d which I think is cool. The fighting pattern of the game is just like the episodes all the moves are here. The voices are great even though they're in japenese it's still fun to listen to. The music is brilliant the intro music is from final fight. Okay I beat the game the day I got it but it's so addictive that you keep playing it. The lastability is pretty long on build up mode which is great and hard. You also have tournament mode which is good when you have friends round so you can prove you're the master. Build up mode is amazing my ss goku great. The character selection good have been a bit better. They good have added a few more majin buu forms, vegita normal, gohan super sayian and so on. Final rating fun for a longgggggg time.

Good game, but it could have been a little better |
| Vegeta's final flash from Bruges, Belgium says (8/Nov/2002): |
When you first play this game, you will (like alot of people do) find it horrible, well, I'll tell you why : First, the controls are SLOW, the characters look corny, especially Goku(s). I mean to say that when you look at his pants you can see a funny line that's not very attractive, further more ALL the characters have hands like Boo (2 fingers)and that looks pretty stupid. That said, now the good parts of the game. You have some characters from DB-GT, that's good, and when two fighters have to fight , right before they begin, they talk to eachother, that's very nice to listen to since it's in Japanese. The sound is nice, you can recognise some of the songs from UB22. I, this game, you have again the capability of building up a fighter, but this time it's more fun than in UB22, because here, you battle points, and every time you won or lost a fight , you gain BP's and the energy bars are REALLY long here, you have up to 7 energy bars! The attacks are cool, the good old kamehame-ha rays, that's the stuff;and they all say it in their own special way.The battle area's look very good, and you even have the capability to fly to or away from the screen to dodge an attack. What I find really great in this game is, the power of you punches and kicks depend on the fighter you choose, for example : You choose Vegetto or Goku SS4, and you punch or kick, you apponent will loose alot more energy than if you receive a punch from any other of the fighters in the game. The only thing that's annoying except the slow controlling, is the fact that some of the characters look very corny (all the Saiyans look corny) , all the rest of the characters in the game look very good ( Piccolo, Frieza, Boo, Cell,....). Now, final conclusion. The game needs to be played a while, and you have to have a little bit of patience, and if you don't look at the corny Saiyans, and slow controls, the game will play very nicely, I mean that, so DBZ fans should get this one for sure.

Worth the Wait! |
| Justin from Ferndale, Michigan, USA says (28/Oct/2002): |
I have been waiting for this game for awhile.... My friend had it, and I was hooked, but didn't have a playstation that could play it. Now that I do, I spent the money and got the game. I can't read it, because it is in Japanese, but I get the jist of most of it. I love playing the one player game, and playing against friends characters can be a huge challenge. The graphics are supurb for a game that was released in '97, and the moves are simple. The downside is that with the kame-hame-ha and the energy moves like it are diffucult to power up. My arm starts to hurt after constantly pounding the buttons. But, in the end, it is all worth it. When your character finally beats the snot out of SS4 Goku, suddenly your arm won't hurt so much, and you will forget about the blisters on your fingers. All in all, this game is excellent. I can't wait for the game on the PS2... I am practically drooling already! Keep up the good work Ban Dai! We love you Guys!

Cool Game! Buy It |
| arseball from Keighley, England says (28/Sep/2002): |
I have been looking for this game for AGES, then I went into my local second hand store in England and snapped it up!
And I have to say that this game is absolutley brilliant, it may suck at first but only for a few minutes, once you understand how the game plays you will have a ball.
I say if you can find a copy, buy it! But it is VERY rare, especially on the PAL region

dragonball gt final bout |
| A gamer from phoenix,arizona,usa says (22/Sep/2002): |
i just got the game about 3 days ago and it is one of the best games i have ever played it took me so long to get it about 3 years but when i finally got it i played it all day the game was pretty challenging the graphics were not that good but they were for its time the game was kind of slow with the fighting until you learn how to fly and do kick attacks all in all i thought the game was great
|
i love the game but it could imrove |
| vedel from vedela atlantis says (16/Sep/2002): |
I it love the game and it dose improve the way we see the program, but if they were to use the english voices in the game it would be more beleve able, but the grafix is good and so are the moves that are used. and if they used some of the old "character" it woud be good eg; number 18, Gotenks, little, Gohan, Vedel (not me) and may be older eg; Pan about 16 years old and Trunks and Goten the same. but othe than that i adore the game and i would love to be a "character" in the program

'The' game |
| IBMBD from Paris, England says (2/Sep/2002): |
I know there is a lot of fuss about the game. - I think the gameplay sucks, and people keep saying its the best fighting game because the never played another (good) fighting game. I give the gameplay 2 out of 10 - The sounds and voices howerever are far much better, its accurate, suits to the different characters and stuff. 7 out of 10 it is - The graphics suck pritty bad too, i mean it almost looks that every character is made out circles and squares. It could have been way more realistic. The sky and ground always looks like crap, not even detailled, just one color (sometimes from bright to dark but still one color)And the background is 2D, you see the same hill over and over if you pass to the next screen 3/10
Its true that there are too much goku 's (and Trunkses). For example, why didnt the normal goku got replaced with SS Goku (after you got it) Or better, if you used goku in build up and your niveau is high enough you would turn to SS or SS2 or further. I dont know why they made it so hard to get some bonus fighter, like playing arcade on hard 20 in a row without continues, who can keep it up after beating the game just once? And i dont have to see crappy fighter like Krillin or Tien, they are crap, and only had (big) roles way early in the dragonball (NOT dragonball Z but normal dragonball) series I seriously think that the game wasnt finished yet, or there werent enough experienced programmers. The build up was the only thing i cared for once (damn it was addictive), but i stopped now, i couldnt make my Freeza get higher then level 101. I regretted my time i put in the game later.

very good but theres room for improovement |
| sum guy who has nothing better to do than write reviews online from namek says (28/Aug/2002): |
I like the game loads (probably because im a big dragonball fan)
but i wouldn't recommend it to any one who doesn't like the dragonball series. ssj3 shouldve been in it and there should be more different characters other than lame palet changes (like super sayjin goku is the same as super goku but different clothes and name.) there should also be a fmv for the chracters and more bad guys like fat buu and garlic junior its quite dissappointing but people who like dragonball should buy it anyway because it is entertaining especially gokus punch meteor.

The Name Sells The Game!!!! |
| Kevin and Tom (dbz lunatics) from London England says (19/Jul/2002): |
When i heard ther was a games called dragonball gt i thuoght heaven had come to earth but then when i actually got the game it made me realise that the game was quite crap.
The graphics were average for the time it was out but didnt match excellent flying punches and ki blasts which the show offerded. 4/10
The gameplay was not very good either, there was no real story mode as such as most games have but the fist flying action was hard to perform and still didn't match the series. its good whilst it last. 3/10
Life span, 1 word, rubbish. about 1 to 2 hours of gameplay. 2/10.
In conclusion lets hope the new dragonball z game coming out on the ps2 and gamecube will be more successful.
|
I recommend this game for any DB/Z/GT.. fan even just for a collector's item. |
| Piccolo from Namek, Not on Earth, Out in space says (12/Jul/2002): |
I truly liked this game. But the flaws can bring it down. First the ups. I liked the build up mode, I brought my favorite character into this mode (Piccolo) and brought him up to a higher level and fought all the others. I have alot more fun when I have friends over and we're battling out to see who is better. Having a battle with a friend can make it more interesting aswell, the computer is too easy. I'll fire a Ki Blast and my friend will dodge and throw a blast or a punch and then we'll get into a good battle for a few seconds. Being able to battle with the blasts (Like both of you throwing a blast at the same time and they blast into eachother and they will go back and forth) Is fun also. But they blow up after a few causing both opponents to get injured. The self-destruct is a good/cheap way to get a draw. (Example: I was Piccolo, of course, and my friend was Vegeta. I was whooping his ass all over the mountains and he desides when I'm far enough away he decides to power updrastically and blow up causing a draw match. This is where the bad stuff comes out. One reason he got to blow up during that match was because the game is so fuc#ing slow. I tried to fly/run over to him and hit him with a blast (which would have killed him) to stop his self-destruct move, but it takes 10 minutes just to walk 5 feet. And the punches are thrown about 1-3 seconds after pressing the buttons (seriously.) But rapid fire fights and dodging is something I love. Like trying to land every hit on Frieza with hard difficulty on is pretty tough. (Cell and Buu are harder by the way) But blasting away is an easy way to win, if you know the controls. Which are the hardest to learn. But you'll have the game beat before you learn them totally. The characters kinda bother me. Sure Piccolo is all I ever use but having Tien, Krillin, Chaotzu, Yamucha, Nappa, and Radditz would be nice. But using the codes in my book is very cheap. I liked earning the character myself, puts more into the game. Having a Cell Junior would be nice, and not so many damn Goku's! I think a great improvement that should be made in Dragonball Z: Legendary Super Warriors (Yes, a PS2 game. Note: Not a fighting game, and adventure game!) Is being able to turn into a Super Saiyan after you reach a certain level. Not having to select a different character just to be a super saiyan. If they had to do this, than there should be a normal Goku, and a Super Saiyan Goku. But if needed, SS3. And another thing that I hate is that ChiChi can beat a Super Saiyan Vegeta just as easily as Frieza can. In the cartoon, being a Super Saiyan raised up the power, not made it as strong as a human. I think that having a Super Saiyan character should give you an advantage. But over all, this game is great. I admit, it can get pretty boring if you just fight the computer all the time, but having a friend battle you who trains his character up just as much as you (I have the game though, so I have more time to build up Piccolo) Then you could have great...slow...but great battles! A must buy for any DB/Z/GT Fan even if you hate it.

Not enough of the right characters!!!!!! |
| A gamer from Uranus says (27/Jun/2002): |
I must say that DB FB is a superb game although it lacks the right characters. There are too many Goku's in the game. There is: Little Goku, SSJ Little Goku, Normal Goku (GT), SSJ Goku (Z), SSJ Goku (GT) and SSJ4 Goku. There should be a Normal Goku, a SSJ Goku, a SSJ3 Goku and a SSJ4 Goku. There is one Vegeta (SSJ), one Gohan, and what happened to Goten? Also what happened to Yamcha, Tien, Chaoutzu and Krillin. I think another good addition would be the Androids and a couple of SSJ3's . I think this game is centered around Goku too much. I think Bandai should make a game like DBZ Legend of the Super Saiyan or as it is being called on the GBA Legacy of Goku. Have three games from the first Saga to the last. One game for Dragonball, one for Dragonball Z and one for Dragonball GT. The game is alright but there isn't much to do!
