I played this and i said WOOOOWWWW. This game rocks if you like aircrafts. My recomendation is for you to buy this game for your collection(and fun too). It have more than 36 aircrafts and missions to unlock. Buy this game it is way better than top gun any other simulation game. Also buy acecombat for 4 for ps2
and ALSO BUY ACECOMBAT 5 THAT IS GOING TO COME OUT IN 2004, DONT
MISS IT.

yeah, yeah! I know i'm talkin bout sumthin that's more or less 4 years old, but i'm simply captivated by this great game!! (Still playing d jap version till now actually...) Graphicswise, it's simply beautiful, xcept 4 d ground which seems sumwhat ill-rendered. The music i really like, and the explosions sound real enough. As 4 gameplay, i've still 2 find a flight-sim on the PS1 (or any other console) with this sort of enjoyable flow; a cross of arcade n real flight-sim physics plus lethal AI in hard mode. Not to mention anime cutscenes n branching options, which made 4 a rather twisted n very absorbing storyline. The major factors that got me hooked were it's multiple endings n hidden goodies! (Aircombat n Acecombat 2 didn't hav that many!!!) That's about it 4 my review. Long live Ace Combat!!

This was the first ace combat game I had ever played.I never was able to get passed the fourth mission.But when I did,I really got to see the game for what it really is.I made it to the mission in space before I had to stop.I have to say,They really went through a lot to make this game.The graphics were so good,it had me thinking I was the game!The sound was awesome!The missels are so silent.I can't imagine how they could come up with so many cool vehicles.And not just the planes,everything!The frame rate is good for a ps1 game.I think it is a little to long.I beat every mission up to the space one in under 10 minutes.It's very fun,but it gets kinda boring after a while.And like someone else said,why is it the same theme?A bad guy wants to take over the world.Can't it just be a direct threat to the united states or something like that?And it was to futureistic.Sure,I said that the vehicles were cool.But they are too damn futreistic!This game has an origanality level in my view of about 6.I still like this game very much though.

Ace Combat 3, better or worse |

I loved Ace Combat 2 because of the missions. AC3 is almost as good, but fails in explanation of story, and variety of missions/types of missions. The gameplay is fantastic, the planes are great. This is a fun game to look at and play. Most flight sims don't make me feel a little queezy, this one did.

I have played Air Combat and Ace Combat 2 and seen the series evolve. Graphics have improved greatly with Ace Combat 3. That´s about it. The plot of the game seems more and more confused. Some unknown superpower emerges with the resources to produce super-aircraft and build gigantic bases all over the place. It´s up to you to save the world. Aren´t we getting tired of this theme? Wouldn´t it be wonderful if we got a more realistic flight simulator? Shouldn´t there be more aircraft fighting on your side? (yeah,yeah..I know about the wingman but have you ever seen that Bozo do any good? Still he manages to survive all the time). Namco had a great opportunity to give us a good game here. The flight simulation is good, the graphics are good. Why did they have to mess it up with fantasy aircraft and weird boring missions?

The game it self, is based on a series on assignment to "kick" the enemy ***. The assignment's vary in difficulty, but get's harder the longer on you play.
The graphics are "pretty good" for a PS1 game. And with the more realistic flying than the erlier "ace 2" , you feel more like "flying".
And the "dog fights" are great.
I havn't played that many flight simulator games for playstation, but this is by now the best one, "I think"
