There is no other game on this planet that can compare to suikoden II. I love everything about it! The story line, the characters, the graphics, the music, the battle tactics, and the side quests make this game like no other. Due to it's rarity I am inclined to believe that Konami intended to make few copies of this game knowing how good it is just so people have a hell of a time to locate a copy for themselves and pay big bucks in doing it too! If any of you Konami guys read this get suikoden II back on the shelves!!! I tell you it is a conspirciy! Check this out...at Zellers we had 20 copies of suikoden I for sale awhile back...but do we see the same for suikoden II? Hell no! I've looked everywhere and the wrost news is that I can't buy it on ebay cause I don't have credit! Awww...the addiction is killing me...I feel weak!

When I first saw this game I wanted to play with it because it was about friendship, betrayals and etc. Also it has emotions, I think it's related to true to life when I saw the ending It truly touched my heart. Hope all of you play this game it's truly amazing!

This has to be one of my favorites right under the Final Fantasy series.
The first Suikoden was my second RPG, ever, right after the release of Final Fantasy VII, which was my first. FFVII told me I was an RPGer; Suikoden confirmed that I AM one. Then, Suikoden 2 came out. ADDICTIVE! Konami totally took the great elements of the first game and built on that, making an even much better and lengthier experience. What doomed this game to failure, as far as sales are concerned, is that it came out right when Final Fantasy VIII did...it was overshadowed by that franchise, of course.
The story is mature for a Japanese RPG, almost dark at times, and going out to recruit 108 members for your army is totally addicting....I played the game over and over till I got all 108 and the best ending. Sure, there were no cinemas like in any Final Fantasy, but you don't necessarily need all that when you have a hooking beginning, great characters, and a strong plot.
The graphics are like a beefed-up SNES game, which is great. You can also fight with 6 characters at a time, as opposed to the usual 3 or 4, and the battles are face paced with combos from 2 or more characters.
Nab this game if you can cross it...it's quite rare these days, for there weren't many copies printed before sales stopped dead. It's quite pricey on ebay, but it's worth every penny, for it's quite an experience.

I usually playe Squaresoft games but when i play this awesome game, i forget to exercise, always day dreaming about it, and spending my time playing this game. It's so cool because you can play 108 characters and play also any types of games like chichironin,fishing,climbing,etc. and in battles you can play duel,war,etc.!!!!! Also im looking sites on how to recruit all characters. My castle is still lvl 1. But I want to explore more!!!!! So play this!! Im an expert in RPGs, so i rank this 100/10!!!!! BUY THIS GAME!!

After the highly addictive and original Suikoden 1 was released in 1997(in Australia anyway), I was left starving for more because of the shortness of the great game. Around about three years later the long wait is finally over!, and let me tell you it was well worth the wait. This game is amazing, it's extremely addictive, original, involving and bloody huge. A great story line with constant twists and turns. An excellent plot which contains so many extra features like the 108 recruitable characters, many miniture events like(fishing, gambling, cooking, taking a bath, etc) many of which may or may not affect the story line. There are also three different forms of battle, standard turn based fighting with a party of up to six characters, one on one duels and huge strategy wars containg whole armys. Whith so many characters to choose from it alows you to diccover and use chacters you particerly are fond of. You also have a large amount of control as to the type of magic your characters posses with many attatchable and unattachable magic runes. You are able to name your character, army and castle. This game is, without a doubt, one of the best rpg's of all time and stand respectably next to the SquareSoft greats. There is a huge amount of items and armour and possibily more towns and cities to explore than I've ever seen. With so much to do and such freedom it will keep you going for ages. The game took me sixty and a half hours to go through and I only found 96 of the 108 stars of destiny. Expect your sleep to be effected buy this one.

Once I started playing rpgs(ff8 was the first) I 1. Started to love video games, 2. loved games that made me admire my favorite personalities, 3. Finally understood drama. Before I played this I always thought the villian was my main enemy and my world was black and white. My friends were people that helped me fight the people I hated. But after this game I was so changed. There is nothing in the world that has changed me more. Heck, I never cried after the age of 3 until I got this game. I beat it twice before I got the best ending. I lost the game before the 3rd ending and I couldn't get to sleep cause I kept wondering if there was a better ending. I cried myself to sleep in 6th grade thinking how I could save Jowy.
To get back to the villain part, Luca was a fierce villian, but like the rest I see in rpgs, and the kind I like (Sephiroth, people like him) and I don't like villians that are objects like "Sin". I must have been 20 or so hours into the game, taking it slow. I hadn't played suikoden 1 or known there were 108 characters to recruit. SPOILERS! I just had a castle and was at war with Luca, and someone who I dearly care about had joined Highland, against me. Little movies is all I saw of him, and it looked like he had betrayed me. My army finally closed in on Luca and I personally attacked him and made him bow before my feet. His lasts words stayed on my screen for hours as I considered if this was a good game. I thought and thought, and figured it was, there were twists and turns, I had enjoyed all of it. But I decided that it was a bit too short but I figured it might have a good ending where I meet up with Jowy with Nanami by my side. But after Luca's last breath it went to a scene with Jowy watching and talking with some Highland generals. Which seemingly meant that he had planned it all. But the main character didn't know this so he went back to the castle and everyone made preparations to get rid of the rest of the Highlanders and unite the land. But they stopped short as news came to them that Jowy had become the king and had taken many towns and had allies. Highland had no intentions of being friends with the liberation army and the city states. You are left to unite many lands, such as the Toran republic, (Can't remember most of the names, havn't played it in a while, but here goes,) Twin River city, that mining town, the Knights and try to get Muse city(but there is a surprise there.) Overall it is quite a setup when 2 best friends are put up against eachother with countries pushing them to fight. I don't want to ruin the ending so I won't say much more. But the fact is is there was no real villian after that point (neclord, kinda) and you really want to get Jowy to be your friend again. It does have something to do with the 108 stars too, but there are many more surprises int he game past the point where I stopped, and before too. I realized that everything doesn't have to have a badguy to it for you to do the right thing. This game really did effect my life. And is the best story(possibly game) I have ever expierenced. Better than LOTR, any Tolkien writing, any old Chinese story(three kingdoms) any greek story, any roman story, any movie story, and any book that i have ever read. I have a friend like Jowy, and I am not always with him, but I enjoy his company more than any other person I have ever seen. I think it is just luck that konami could have come up with such an amazing story. It is possible to happen in our world, or in any other world(with a few tweeks here and there.) That is what I call a story. I think if I were to ever become an auther, or writer for anything dramatic I would strive to get a feeling put into my writing like how I felt in playing this game.

This was actually the first of the 3 Suikoden games that I played and after playing it I looked hard to get Suikoden I then bought Suikoden III as soon as it came out. The graphics are very good, and the music was also nice. I liked that you can run in this one unlike Suikoden I. I also like that it was a lot harder to get all 108 Stars. I liked the battles in Suikoden I alot more than I did in Suikoden II. It was fun to see that there were quite a few character remained the same in 1 and 2. I cant wait to play Suikoden III and I hope they come out with a Suikoden IV.

about 2-3 years ago when motgomery ward was closeing i bought a game at $20 it was cheap and now its my favorite rpg ever yes the graphices sometimes stink but the runes make up for it. with an intreging adventure i hope to get the suikoden 1 and play suikoden 3

This game was a great improvement of suikoden 1. The graphics look a lot shaper and not as lame. The was also great because it included many great songs, my favorite being the piano song after Rious n Jowy jump from the cliff. The gameplay completely got me into the game. It was always full of surprises, betrayal, friendships, magic, everything you can imagine. It was especially fun gettin all the 108 stars of destiny, doing the cook offs, and descovering side stories. This game differs from so many because of its use of more than 100 characters, and battle system making it very original in the rpg world. Its a game playable over again n again.

some years ago i have finnishid my first rpg, ffVII, and next days was q kind of glory days, i was just smilings and happiness! But my "pimp" (the guy that have "chiped" my playstation) say to that he have the best rpg ever!!! and i just say - give to my i will overclocated that game in two three daus at the max!!! i couldnīt imagine what was i saying!!! Suikuden2 have changed my live.
i had finished the game around 8 times! just to make choore.
And one day! pufff everything goes away! my station blows up!!!! and meltdown my fav game!!!
that's a bad end! But now i have my PS2 and i was wondering if could turn back to suikoden saga, playng the third one, but...
i still looking for the game that so may good things gave to me!

Unbelievable!!! This is what I said when I first started playing this game. Suikoden 2 ranks right up or hirer than the greats like Final Fantasy. Final fantasy 7 really got me hooked as a RPGer. Once I played this I knew what I enjoyed in a game had to do with controlling 1 character as a leader and gaining others along the way. What is more fun than recruiting 108 different characters and doing all kinds of mini-stories inside one game. This makes the game all better. Now I know that the graphics are not the best out there but it doesn't matter. The story of this game, the awesome sound effect, and characters make this game surpass all others. This is defenately the game to buy. Now I know it can be very pricey(AROUND 80 BUCKS) But don't let that fool you. This game is worth every penny of play.

I am an RPG maniac, and though I couldn't get the first suikoden, which made me miss the extra storyline (I dont know if the original Suikoden even got to Mexico), I absolutely loved this game. The gameplay is great, allowing you to participate in different styles of battle and one thing I enjoy in an RPG, the fact that you donīt get enemyes challenging you every three steps (which made pokemon earn my zero). The sound is exquisite, since almost every place has a very own soundtrack, and sound FX are good aswell. Graphics are very fluid and enriched, although I would have liked the edges smoothened when in close-up during some special attack (Fanily attack for example), yet this does not affect at all the grade. I think it is a very original game (especially about your own fortress), yet I cannot compare it to its prequel.
I had a lot of fun playong this game, and enjoyed the fact that the hero does more than saying yes or no, like in many RPGīs.
But the thing that I loved the most about Suikoden II is its plot, it really took me out of breath when I saw the villages burned down (by the way, this game treats the subject of death marveluosly), but also makes you feel the frienship and the treachery, sucking you right to a dramatic ending.
As a conclusion....... PLAY THIS GAME IF YOU HAVE ANY APRECIATION FOR THE ART IN A GOD VIDEOGAME!!!

suikoden 2 is one of my favourite rpgs this game is like no other rpgs around.firstly why i love it is because you can control up to six characters of your choice out of 108!!! some characters are even able to do moves called unite.When 2 or more peaple in your team of 6 can attack an enemy to make serious damage to the enemy.you also gain a castle through the at first is small but later as you get more characters it will become bigger and will be able to buy stuff and heal in [your]castle!!!!this is never been done in any other rpg i have played this game is truly a breakthrough in rpgs there is alot of depth and the story is very twisted if you have the money BUY THIS GAME YOU WILL NEVER FORGET IT!!!!!!!

Suikoden 2 is no ordinary game for me. I've been playing Suikoden 2 since I was Grade 4 & now that I am a Freshman, I still love playing it. My brother was the first one who found this game & when I use to see him play, I started to like it! It has simple graphics but it explains how the story goes. Its sound adds to the quality of the game, it excites the player and challenges him or her to do what is best. I also enjoy the value and originality of the game because most RPG nowadays don't have the trend to collect 108 characters with different attitudes and stories to tell. The fun factor also adds to its capacity of having a high rate, it has different moods in it, sometimes it makes you cry or even laugh out loud. This game has been an unending legacy for me, I tried to reach those goals to have a nice ending and it did happen. Because of this game, it made me realize the values of friendship, Love, family and a broader field called life! It pictures out the real world as the hero seeks for his fate as a person. Suikoden 2 is indeed a great game, it gives relaxation and at the same time, the satisfaction of having it as a part of my life!

I got this game about 2 years ago, and I'm still playing it. I finally just got all 108 characters, well with some help. I think that the graphics are good as it is, part three should've stayed with it! Anyways, the storyline was always grabbing my attention, it's so good...why Jowy...sniff. Well, I've played it over so many times now, maybe some more. A must-have for rpg-ers.

I prefer Suikoden than other games because for me it is beautiful and I am collecting Suikoden fact and examining the suikoden games especially suikoden 2&3 and I like that game esp. suikoden2 its tha best for me . . .!!! and that is my most favourite rpg games for me it is much clearly beautiful than finalfantasy games and im enjoying playing it because if im always bored and depressed I play suikoden b'coz everytime I play it makes me relax . . . so its the best game for me!!! . . .

when i saw this game i liked it very much!
i love the "Cook-Off" the most because it had a cook-off when i defeated Jinkai(the hard-to-defeat chef) the best chef in the Black Dragon group!!!!and i defeated Luca Blight very easy!!
i just used the Sigfried-Feather unite the Double Monster ATK
over and over!!i felt like i was eating hamburger!!
