It's a trade - weight for functionality | | Mikey from Melbourne, Australia says (3/Dec/2002): | Having only just bought the Scorpion Light Gun, I find it in some ways an improvement and a backstep from the Futronics Light Gun I was previously using.
Its lighter weight makes it easier for longer game-play, but the positioning of buttons makes it more difficult to reload.
Playing 'Time Crisis: Project Titan' for example, reload and hide are one and the same. This means that while it is not always necessary to reload, it is necessary to hide from the bad guys (bullet holes in a suit just looks so wrong...).
This means playing the game two handed when the size and weight of the Scorpion just don't suit doing so.
The port built into the gun for a foot-pedal is a good idea but the pedal doesn’t come with the gun – ah, hello...like I wanna go out and pay more money – my PS1 is a hobby NOT a life-style, I got rent to pay you know!?!
Also, having to play ‘Time Crisis: Project Titan’ in ‘Guncon’ mode means the manual reload button doesn’t seem to work – if it did, I might see the Scorpion in a better light.
Although I come to an overall rating of 6, I would rate the weight and size as a 7.5, but the problems with the buttons a 5. If you need a second gun for your favourite shoot-em up game – go for just take what I have said into account.
