Resident Evil 2 (Why you should buy this game) |

If you like survival horrors you'll love this game. I've played almost every single resident evil in the entire series and this is one of the greats. The first one I've ever played was the original Resident Evil for the ps1, and I have to say this sequel packs a punch! You are given not 1, but 2 discs in which you will play 2 different scenarios with playing one of the 2 characters 1 guy (Leon)and 1 girl (claire). This game has a chilling atmosphere, complete with monsters that you'd expect to see in a nightmare (Zombies, are the least of your worries.)Gameplay wise, it's great puzzles that make you think, and this game features static camera angles, something games nowadays seemed to have forgotten, in other words, there is NO controllable camera, and in no means is this a bad thing, you will always have a complete view of your character, but not of whats lurking around the next corner. You'll actually HEAR whats coming to get you and it will have you on the edge. However this isn't ALL good. Unfortanately, there will be some brief lag between transition of one camera to another, but it won't really amount to anything. Now graphically, the game of course isn't going to blow you away, it is on afterall an outdated platform, and consoles now days are much better when it comes to graphics, but this game isn't ugly nor beautiful, it's graphics are somewhat above average compared to the other games released at the time and it does feature pre-rendered backgrounds, but I can proudly say this game gets the job done. The controls are simple and easy to memorize. And thats a good thing, because the game's enemies don't go down easily. The A.I. is tough enough to provide a challenge without becoming frustrating when things heat up. As you will have to scavenge around for herbs (health pick-ups) and ammo as well as new weapons. The story is understandable as you will uncover the mystery of whats going on, and you'll be able to follow it even if you haven't played any other ones in the series, and this game features several unlockbles that will be awarded for how well you complete the game. This game will scare the crap out of you, make you think, and will give you a sense of satisfaction, once you step into it. I would highly recommend this game to anyone whose a fan of the series, or is looking for a good game. Resident Evil 2 is a cult classic psx game, that just about anyone can enjoy. And in many ways set the bar for survival horror games. Peaceout!

There is a good chance that if you're reading this review, you have already played RE2, but if you haven't - this is an action adventure game in 3D, which has you exploring diffent rooms, picking up items, solving puzzles and shooting zombies and monsters. Doesn't sound interesting? How about this...you enter a room, limping as you're low on health - it is very dark, eerie dischordant music plays in the background. On the ground are corpses, not just dead, but mutilated. You have 13 bullets left in your gun, you hear a steady hissing sound from around the corner. Something is there...but suddenly, one of the 'corpses' begins to stir...
This brings across the atmosphere of the game much better - the way in which the plot unfolds and the action plays out was, at the time(IMHO), the closest you got to being in a movie.
What you get is essentially two games for you money, play as Claire Redfield (sister of a character from RE1) or Leon Kennedy, a Racoon City cop. Play the game to the end with one character, then play a substantially different game with the other. Who you play with first is up to you: I recommend Claire, as the storyline is much better. The backgrounds are beautifully rendered, and the music is spot on. Unfortunately, some of the camera angles in the game can ruin the gameplay, and the control system itself can be incredibly annoying (even once you're used to it). In addition, if you've played a few computer games in your life, you won't find the puzzles at all taxing.
The monsters are good and genuinely terrifying; zombies (owing a lot to the 1989 movie 'Night of the Living Dead'), giant spiders and a plethora of other enemies, who all attack in different ways. Although the game is easy to complete, don't let this put you off - the whole idea is to play the game several times over. You may finish the game, but are you good enough to finish it without the machine gun, without saving, and in under 3 hours?
All in all RE2 does its job - the game WILL scare you, trust me. I give the game 8, as it isn't perfect, but it comes pretty damn close.

Resident Evil 2 is definitely a cool game to play and i think that capcom has done a good job. Now that i have played this game twice, i think that i found a few flaws in the game which to the best of my knowledge are relevant. They are as follows:-
#1] When leon or claire are wounded by the zombies or whatever, they still climb up the stairs with the same amount of strength when they are completely fit or healed.
#2] In the beginning of the game when leon or claire reach the place near the weapon store where the shotgun man is, after you leave the place and go near the fence which is locked, when we shoot all the zombies through the fence and head towards the trash can, all of a sudden a zombie appears out of nowhere and before that there is no sign of a single zombie in the whole area in the alley. Strange!!
#3] In the first CD when we play as leon, during the end of the game where leon loses the girl as she falls down, there is a movie scene where leon cries out. If you noticed, whichever weapon he is holding is not shown at all during the scene when he falls to his knees and fells sorry. Then after the scene, all of a sudden he is holding his weapon again. hmmm....
#4] In the beginning of the game where leon is at the raccoon police station, why is the the combination of the locker always 2236 in playstation version while in the PC version the combination varies????
Any way, overall the game is worth playing anyday and i worth the bucks. Check it out guys and i can't wait to lay my hands on the new sequel [New Blood] probably which is to be released shortly and not to forget the movie also. Still i rate this game 10. I hope that the horror isn't over yet!!!!

I'm surprised I'm the first to write a review for this game here two years after the game came out because this is, in my opinion the best game for the playstation followed by the two tony hawks and metal gear solid. Anyway, this game is a masterpiece. The graphics are pretty much the as good as playstation can get and the music fits the game's mood perfectly. The game is extremely violent and action packed and it's actually scary. The storyline is so good it gets you sucked into the game and you become addicted to it, even though the voice acting is still bad (I actually didn't mind because it's pretty funny). This is one of those games you play almost nonstop the first two weeks you have it. You get to pick between two characters Leon and Claire, and you try to solve the mystery of the T virus outbreak that turned everyone into zombies in racoon city. You fight all kinds of different monsters besides zombies like these things called lickers, an alligator, a tyrant, and more. I actually had an audience watching me as I played it was so good. I was a huge fan of the first resident evil, so I was shocked that the second one was actually better. There are two scenarios for each character on two disks so this game takes awhile to beat. After that you get a hidden mode of play that keeps you playing even longer. So if you don't already have the game go get it right now because the price is right at 20 bucks, and anyone who thinks this game sucks is an idiot that doesn't know what a good game is and they can kiss my ass.

I played 2 before 1 and I must say that I nearly broke the disc in half after being killed 20 different times inside of the first 5 minutes!!! If you are new to the RE series, don't get too frustrated. Once you get the hang of the game play, yer in for a real treat! This game has a story line that would put most Hollywood scripts to shame! It has really good graphics, eerie musical scores and dramatic voice overs. Careful though, this game will make you jump...several times. The best part of this game is the two scenarios that you play as each of the lead characters. Once you beat the game as Leon Kennedy, you can pop in disc 2 to beat the game as Claire Redfield and vice versa. The faster you complete the game, the better your ranking becomes each time you play. This allows you to unlock some really cool weapons, even play as different characters!! If you've already played this game, you know what I mean. If you haven't, you are definately missing out. I've cleared RE2 at least 25 times and have never gotten tired of playing it.

Even after 6 years, this game is still the best game for suspense, guns and gore. But because it is quite old, the graphics are'nt great and though the guns are really cool, there are not a lot of them. Here are the good and bad things about the game.
Firstly, the graphics are not really bad, but these days they don't qualify as ground-breaking. You also expect a huge arsenal of guns when playing it, but there are only about 6-7 for each characters! There also are so many times in the game where you feel so annoyed because they use up loads of time when a characters opens a door, how long does it take to load a room? But considering it was made years ago, the suspense is fantastic and, though there are'nt many, the guns sounds and looks really cool. Also, it's great how you have multiple endings.
Now at about £15.00 it's worth your money for such a classic game. Just make sure your little brother or sister are not watching you play, it'll scare them to death!

I think that Resident Evil Two tops the list as the best "Resident" game. It kicks the a$$ of the first, the third, and the "Veronica X." The only thing that is better than the game is the movie. The blood, gore, zombies, strategy, CLAIRE (She's hot), and even the storyline are great. The whole game pertains to a zombie infested city that was started by a discreet, underground (no joke, UNDERGROUND - about a mile)laboratory that manufactures everything, including viral weaponry. Their "G Virus" got out of hand, into the ventilation system, into the city and poof, instant zombies. You play as Claire or Leon and must navigate through the city to escape from the zombies. It all leads to the "hive", the underground lab where a ride out of the city on a subway is the only chance of survival. If you survive it is just a invitation to come back and play Resident Evil 3: Nemisis. From one to ten this game rates and Eleventeen.

ok first off, this iz the best of the resident evil games...the action iz totally kewlz and the monsterz kick!! The gameplay is the best, in my opinion. The main point-i think, iz that u have to try and save the still alive pplz from the city that the zombiez roam in. And along the way it givez u situations that u need ta handle like aligatorz or zombiez or real big monsters. And itz not eazy until u know whut ur doing. if u've never played this game i prefer that u go to the rookie mode to get to know the game cuz hard mode iz extremely hard. another good thing iz the sound of everything, the effectz are awesome, like the zombiez and the gun and eveything. but one thing i really hate iz that when they talk their mouthz dont move-lol.. It really annoyz me but o well.. anyhoo, whoever readz this needz ta get this game - itz the best of them all!

This game is packed with more nerve-shattering tension than a midnight screening of your faveropute horror flick. This falls secong only to mgs in the greatest playstation games of all time and like mgs has one of the very best plots ina videogame. This game is the main reason for the success of horror games and is still the scariest game of all time. The creatures are highly creative and look amazingly cool and the one characters game effects the others is also a brillant feature. What I mean by this is that if you play the game as Leon and take all the ammo than Claire will have none left and will certainly die. This can be an annoying feature if you don't know that its there. Though this game is by no means faultless it is still one of the coolest games of all time and even know is worth getting.

This game is one of the most suspenseful game i have ever played. The graphics was great....the sound was also great...although i thought the graphic could have been a little better compared to Metal Gear. This game has a very good orginalty. I was scared to play this game sometimes...just cause of all the fast occurences. This game was also very fun to play because of all the weapons, monsters, and the different characters. Although i though the grades at the end and getting an (A) was very difficult. This game should also be a must play game for Playstation 1. I give this a 8 because of the graphics because i thought it could have been better and also i thought it was very difficult to get the good grades at the end.

This game is terrific in all aspects of gaming qualities. Great graphics terrific, terrifying and realistic sound effects,and most of all how real the discovery and appearance of weapons and ammo are. It creates scenarios so that you are on the edge of your seat waiting for something scary to happen but as soon as you give up and accept nothings gonna happen *BOOM* a Zombie or monster jumps out and attacks you. In the term never can be wrecked i mean there are no serious cheats to the game so the fun will never dissapear. An absolute beauty don't hesitate to by this one or you'll accept nothings gonna happen and,

the first time i play Re2 i got REALLY frustrated with the fact that i kept dieing in the first scene!! after i got the hang of the controls, i found it really gud. the fact that it can scare you, even when youy know wats aboot to happen! like the bit where u walk along and the crows jump out at u, where u fall thru the 3rd story floor and i wont give to much away. it has a very good story line, good graphics. its a RPG's lovers favorite game!!! it is a bit easy 2 finish as u get ample supplies along the way and u have a long way to go! the only part i dont like is the fact that u have 2 go back alot like backtrack. the fgact that athough

I have played almost all the RE games there r. But I got to agree with yall RE2 is most likely the best Survival Horror RE game ever. I have beat it twice already going on my third round with it. It has ok special affects. The first couple minutes r the toughest. Starting with the scene where u just get seperated from Claire and ending with u entering the police station gate is what kills u if ur not a RE player. When I first tried RE2 out it took me about three tries befor I finally made it into the police station unscathed. Durring the three trial runs I felt like shredding the game and throwing it away, thankfully I didn't.

RESIDENT EVIL 2.Is such a great game just like res 3 ive played res 1 it was good but resident evil 2 is so much beter the graphics the gore the creatures like mr x zombies zombie dogs likers plants william trant jiant crocs crows giant spiders and more.the story lines great just like the other games but in this one you have to pass the first disc Leon and 2nd disc Clair to get the full story.So this is a must have just like 1 and 3

You know after reading this i found more girls that appreciate the sheer delight of playing an RE. GOD I LOVE THIS GAME! RE 2 is the first re game i played and it was the best! I had some people tell me that girls should play re, that its to scary for us, so I showed them up by beating Leons 1st senarion in 1 hour and 37 minutes! I was so proud. So girls keep on rockin, and Leon I cant wait to see you in RE 4!!!!

This game, is defenitely the best of the Resident evil series. Believe me when i tell you that there are no dissapointments in this game. The sounds, graphics and storyline are amazing. Suprises around every corner and behind every door, Resident Evil 2 is basically almost the best sequel ever made for another amazing game. Look out for Resident evil 3 too. That is also sure to be amazing.

This games greatest quality was how it never stoped surising you there is alwas a new monstar and a new boss around the corner. the contoling is my faviort of the resident evil games. If you choose to play the games out of order i sugest you play this one first.

After playing the first resident evil, but lacking to finish it, I loved this game it explained the storyline prefectly to people ho hadn't played previous games. The weapons were good and the idea of a second scenario was awesome evn tho it took me a lot longer to finish. All in all a great game and at least this time the final boss was challenging.

I think resident evil 2 is one of the best games ever made. The bosses are kind of challenging and you can obtain special weapons like the gatling gun. I got all the secret guns but if anyone has any cheats for the psx normal version of resident evil 2 email me...Thanks!
