This has got to be the best platformer on ps1 ever created!!!
The game idea is cool! a sort of monkey vs pokemon.
The gadgets are neat(especially the car), the monkeys are cool,
the mini-games are fun... exept galaxy monkey, the lifespan is long, the graphics are great and the frame rate is good & fast.
A top notch game! Even though it's an oldie, it's one of the best!
note: one of the faults is that you need an analouge dual shock controller to play. Without that, you're stuck.

The game is really good. I really like the levels. I like the gadgets. The best level is Monkey Madness. It is a really huge place. The monkeys always have a challenge for you. I like Specter, Jake and the guy you control throughout the game. I like the mini games. The best one is Specter Boxing. Buy the game and trust me, it is fun.

I think the graphics for a ps1 game were great!!!
It is better than all the others (ape escape 2,3 etc)
Ape escape 2 did not have the feel of ape escape 1. The Music with the high pitched voices like on the second level and the spa in land of the apes. Plus who could forget the start video and the welcome screen. Totally different to the 1st!!!!
Plus the tv station for three was really because they were running out of ideas plus the two kids did not match the series at all. That is probably why the games afterwards did not include them!!
Million monkeys that comes out in the UK in September 2008 looks better!
Primed and pumped i was really annoyed about because it did not come out in the UK or AUS! (USA version does not work on consoles from other countries!!!)
Ape escape 1 had great music that really added the WOW factor to the game. i loved the music in frozen ocean and in the second sea level and of course the buzz attacks. (They really should have kept buzz!)
Ther is one level on the back cover of the UK and AUS version that looks like another buzz attack i am still waiting to play!!
Ape escape on the loose seems to really spoil the original game without the 2nd analog stick!
I hope they make something similar to the first soon!!!!!!

I really liked this game, it had cool gadgets (my favorite was the spinning flyer thingy and the racecar.) It also had very cool graphics. (The beach level was awesome) The monkeys were hilarious, some easy to catch, and some not so easy. The length of the game was good too. The sound was okay, a little annoying at times. But all in all this game was great! And I hope that the sequel will be even better.

The exhilaration of catching a monkey in the net is uncomparable...dual shock comes to life! Very entertaining and well thought-out game!
