a total master piece but theres sooo much room for improvement |
| Jaide Marlow from England, London says (2/May/2003): |
pro evo 2 is clearly the best footie game to hit the market, but its NOT perfect, firstly the japs have given us a second rate game compared to there own(winning 11 6)i say that because once u play it, it does have the realism of FIFA and the gameplay of pro evo.Theres the real kit sponsers, there far range shooting and all gameplay mistakes of pro evo are correct to perfection. The next big issue is why theres such a lack of club teams in the game, if FIFA can fit all teams in the game why is it sohard for pro evo to do it.How do u think fans of small teams like charlton and birmingham feel when they see there teams not on the game, personally iam a spurs fan and there a MASSIVE club why on earth are they not on the game? iam sure all the pro evo lovers would love to see these improvements made but the question is if they dont make these improvements will FIFA beat them in the gameplay department on its next release and steal the virtual football crown?

If it aint broken why fix it! |
| Richie from Plymouth, England says (30/Oct/2002): |
I waited 6 months for the games release, waited outside before store opened, it was raining and I think I'd finally lost it. Traded old game off the value and went home with a smile. Only to discover they had dropped my fav R2 dribble on previous version, nooo I thought. At times players seem to dribble away without ball at feet. Is this game finished I thought, who was testing for these bugs? A game that sells more copies than any other football game yet still cant have correct team names. Well thats all thats bad, whats good is.. Freedom of passing, the ability to run into space is amazing. More Master league teams, strp design, team edits. The list goes on. The most impressive feature has to be the advanced AI. Now if your team has a narrow lead in the 80 minute, expect an onslaught as the COM team boosts its attack to full. "clear it, kick it out"! Great game, could be better!

how is this better than pro evo 2!?!?! |
| Mike Addison from Stockport, Manchester, England says (17/Jan/2002): |
When i heard that there was a ps2 version of pro evolution soccer I thought there was no way it could have been better than pro evo 2 on the psone - but luckily I was proved wrong!! Yes, there are flaws in some areas of the gameplay - it doesn't always give you control of the right player and 1 in 20 passes don't go where you would like them too, but the rest of the game is nothing short of phenomenal... for every 4-3 thriller there is a 0-0 bore draw, for every 30 yard Veron top corner screamer there's a six yard van Nistelrooy tap in - just 'cause the games lacking a few player names does not take away the value of the playability - besides, if you take 20 minutes you can edit all the false player names. Trust me, if you like football - and I stress FOOTBALL (not 'soccer' as is the preffered transatlantic name) buy this game!!! You will not be dissapointed.

Fifa v Iss? Sorry Konami, but Fifa wins |
| Joe Booth from Manchester, England says (22/Jun/2003): |
Hmm. Alan Shearer with England doesn't sound quite right in 2001, does it? Are Konami a bunch of cretins or is their lack of footy nous going to take over their lives? They say that each player's running style and skills are rationalised, but what's the point if each player has the same bloody face every time?
Anyway, they say that the Master League has been updated. If a competition like the Master League would commence, why the hell does it have West Ham in the choice of teams? They weren't very good then and they're crap now, so why include them?
I agree with that fella who got annoyed about the players waiting for the ball to come to them. It's so agonizing. And that defending! Even if you have a back four of Roberto Carlos, Stam, Nesta and Cafu they still behave like carthouses in their own eighteen yard box.
So anyway, down to the good points. Er...

things that would make the game better |
| TREV COLIN JAMES GRAHAM from DUBLIN IRELAND says (19/Apr/2003): |
ISS pro evolution 2 is the best footy game on the market but theres plenty of things konami could do to make it much better. i was very unhappy with the dutch team's players. i love the reality of games so plyers called oranges 002 relly bugged me. i eventually got a disc which corrected all these errors but i shouldnt have to do that...look at fifa, its so realistic but the gameplay is nothing compared to iss. i wish iss could combine the reality of fifa & the gameplay of pro evolution. players jerseys getting mucked up during rainy fixtures would be amazing!! i think there should be way more accesories when your' creating a player. more football boots & hairstyles would be amazing also. i love the create a plyer option..its one of the reasons why this game is head & shoulders above the rest!!

The, And I mean THE, Best football game EVER! |
| A Footabll Fan from Liverpool, England says (28/Oct/2001): |
I was a FIFA fan, I htought FIFA was great and that the ISS games were crap. One day, I bought a PlayStation Magazine, they had the demo of ISS Pro Evo 2, and I was hooked! It's so real, and it's even better now that they have the real names of the players! A couple of bad points though, you can do Exhibition Matches with club sides and in the Master League mode the have called Arsenal "London" when in actual fact there are about 10 football teams in London. Otherwise it's great. It's better than FIFA because you don't end up with ridiculos score lines like 26-0 (My highest FIFA score) but I ended up with 9-1 (My highest ISS score, and I've only had the game two days!) Put it this way. FIFA- Bad ISS Pro Evolution 2- GREAT Buy ISS TODAY!!!

Not perfect but still the best |
| Paul Church from Brighton,England says (11/May/2003): |
There are two types of person in this world, Pro Evolution 2 fans and Fifa 2003 fans. I have recently been playing Fifa since my friend believes that nothing can compare to it in terms of playability, and while i think the graphics are quite impressive it is clear that the those fine people at konami are doing the best job. It is nowhere near perfect (player/club names, dodgy challenges) but Pro Evolution is the only game which can provide such nail biting games, especially when playing against friends. I think we should cut konami some slack and while they're busy slaving away trying to make a game we won't find anything to moan about, get your mates round for some pizza and beer and stick on Pro Evolution 2.

| Vidyut Rao from London, England says (2/May/2003): |
This is the best game that has yet to grace playstation football addicts. The sheer reality of the game play is amazing, several flaws exist but I wouldnt complain, its about the only game around, that is so challenging. The flaws are only minor and I guess its due to players not wanting be mentioned on the game,I guess each player is paid a certian amount for being on the game. Maybe konami doesnt think that is really something that is worth investing in. Gameplay will improve I am sure eventually it will be virtually like being there. Every year it seems to get better. Well done Konami and I just hope that games in the future are improved.

Good, but not good enough |
| Jamie Furlong from Harrogate says (6/Jun/2002): |
This game i thought had everything. Super gameplay, although the players are square and the commentry is poor it still rates much better than any FIFA 'till 2010 if they carry on going the way they are. Despite this, I realized that there is too little to do. You get a choice of Master League or League. This is not enough! There should be real tournaments, cups, and better music! It is still the best footy game on the PSOne but compared to This is Football 2002 on the PS2 this is nothing. Realistic options such as diving and many more teams should be added to ISS 2 just as this is football 2002 has. A good game, but may gather some dust.

The best footy game on the ps2 or not |
| sam gurung from England, london says (17/Nov/2002): |
I have played this game millions of times and have tried out every good team there is. The controles are excellent commentry a little boring. The game has its good bits and bat bit, for example the team are great but wouldnt the best creators ever "Konami" would spell there names right instead of Roberolarcos change it into Roberto carlos. Over than that the graphics of the players are the best. The croud still looks like cardboard cutouts (like every footy game) Pro evolution soccer 2 is out now and they cant spell there names right. oh well lets hope that fifa 2003 is better or can pro evolution bring out something better.
overall 8/10

Easy on the eye..not on the brain |
| Nasar Niaz from United Kingdom, London says (7/Nov/2002): |
Pro Evo 2 is good. Lets not mess around. Looks great, plays well and is lots of fun. Its probably the nearest thing you will get to Virtual Striker 3 at the arcades. The training modes are excellent and player detail is outstanding. But why only 7/10? Well, Pro 1 is and was a master piece in football playability. Complex and felxible. Pro 2 has made the game more fun but ultimately easier. More freedom to dribble, shooting is simpler and the speed of the game defies logic. I am waiting for Pro 3 because if it can bridge the gap between the first two games then we will have a the best football game ever!!!
|
This Kicks FIFA's Ass from london to Mars!! |
| Aaron Panesar from London, England says (15/Apr/2004): |
The PS1 has come up with pure gold when coming up with this game. Konami have developed this game and they have done a great job. ISS 2 is 10x more realistic (from shooting to goal celebrations), the graphics are better, game play is more exciting and every aspect including training is better. FIFA is too simple. Everyone is the same height, more power doesn't mean that the shot on goal is less accurate and their goal celebrations are crap. The idea of having clubs for the master league in an INTERNATIONAL game is a If you want a basic, unadventuraous game, buy FIFA, if you want realism, go for ISS!!

iss pro evoterrible 2 |
| callum from scotland says (26/Dec/2003): |
I think that it was terrible granted the gameplay is great but they don't have the real player names giggs is geaggs, carlos corlos, lopez laupez, ronaldo ronnaldo. They call the teams things like london ???????? comentery is rubbish the only good thing is the create a player boring boring boring boring infact so boring I'd rather do homework so buy the fifa series do not go through the torture of this game so bad makes broken sword look great konami hve failed to diliver any great spectacle I have over 100 games and this is the worst I have.
so please don't buy it if you have it burn it.

The Greatest football game yet! |
| Azz from Bolton, Greater Manchester, UK says (6/Nov/2001): |
I have been playing ISS Pro Evolution for ages now and I still havent got bored of it yet, It is a great game with Superb Graphics, The game play is so real that I makes the game so enjoyable, they could be a few changed made to any future ISS games, Like the names of the Master League teams, and they could try and make it a bit more realistic by doing what This is Football 2 have done, When I say this I mean make some of the players hand ball it! Other than that I would pick ISS before any other Playstation game, If you havent played it then go and get it, you won't be dissapointed.
|
fantastic, but could be improved to immaculate in pes3!! |
| ronaldo from london, england says (18/Aug/2003): |
the fact that this game does not have likeness rites or a vast selection of teams let it down, also the fact u cant trade out of the master league mode. however, for sheer gameplay, this has to be the best football game ever! realistic movements, tackles and players. only possible improvements = likeness rites, more teams, ability to transfer players. thus, if you love graphics and selection, buy fifa2003, but if you love football get pro evolution 2. this is the ultimate football game for actual gameplay, and that is ofcourse the most important thing!!!
|
Why do the players Stop? |
| Am. from Hornchurch says (1/Apr/2003): |
This is one great game. My mates come over evry sunday, and every time the missus is out shopping for a few games. One thing that does annoy me greatly is the fact that when th ball is near your player, they sometimes either stop or run away from the ball, it winds me up sometimes. Also sometimes when you make a pass the player stands and waits for the ball??? As if Owen, ronaldo and co. would ever wait for a pass to come to them! i think that they need to make reactions quicker...if they get that sorted this will be 'the' game.
|
Lets not overreact |
| SJoerd Dijkstra from Groningen, Holland says (4/Apr/2002): |
I think we all agree ISS Pro etc. is a great game. In fact, I think it is the best sports game ever made. But am I the only one that sees a major BUT here? I mean sure the gameplay is great and everything, but the menu's and music and commentary and everything really suck. And it's also very annoying that every time you start a match, you have to check the line ups because the default line ups really suck. But the important thing is that the soccer part of the game (the only important part of the game) really kicks ass.

Better Than Fifa |
| Pat Ahern from Farran,Co.Cork, Ireland. says (1/Dec/2002): |
Once Again konami bring us the best soccer game ever.however it has made some good and bad changes.Firstly Peter Brackley Is better but they counteract this by putting trevor brooking and his highly annoying voice in.Secondly the players touch on the ball is more realistic makin it better but finally if you're going to change the names of the teams you might as well not have the commentator not mention them at all.Overall its the best but lets hope konami listen to the people who actually play the game.
|
The greatest footy game ever?! |
| adam sparrowe from Gillingham,England says (28/Feb/2002): |
Where do I start? What a great game. Even a few liscenced names now, but who cares? This game is all about game play, the graphics are so smooth and it all seems like your there yourself. Hard mode is hard (unlike that other footy game) and you really have to learn all the tricks of the trade. However the commentary is a little lacking but who cares when you have smooth gameplay, graphics, the whole damn show. What a brill game. Can Pro Evolution Soccer better it? Probably. But who cares? Its ISS!!!
|
Wery good, |
| ALION from Indianapolis, Indiana ,USA says (6/Jun/2004): |
This is one of the games that I can say soccer. You feel it in. If you want to play kid game play FIFA, it should be fun too, but if you want to play soccer play this, make your own team see the realistic part of soccer , with it's realities. But you have to take it serius. I think this is the game for only the fans of soccer and who realy likes it. Grafphics are not perfect but if you want to see good graphic, go wach a soccer mach on tv. If you say you are in, play this and feel it.
