I cant believe the 'Hawk' let me down! | | Tha Dude aka Tha Playa from (IM STILL IN)Roach,Beach says (22/Oct/2001): | 'The game like is awesome'.'Its The Best'.I heard those words around the AOL chat by 2 people and i bet they never even played this game if they gave it such great ratings because this game sucks.The trick system is the same exact thing as Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2!Only a few new tricks like about 2 and they suck anyway.And trying to pull of a easy 360 in Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 is easy,but in Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 a 360 is almost impossible!Mostley every trick is impossible also.The special moves for the top pro skaters are harder to do and its also harder to land in this game!Its almost worse than Tj Lavins Ultiment BMX and THATS bad!Plus the logos are harder to see makeing it more anoying and it has all the original brands Blind,Birdhouse,Hook Ups,Maple and theres only ONE new one.One new one folks!Its great but it dosent matter now!And the new one is Powell which are great boards but in Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 every board is the same and all of them suck.Are the levels any better than the first Tony Hawks Pro Skater and the second tony hawk Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2?No way.Well there better than the first Tony Hawks Pro Skater but not the second one!The grinding rails,big air pools,half pipes and every thing else is worse than ever!Whats the difference between Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 and Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2?Nothing except the second tony hawk is better.But is there any new features?Oh hellllll nnnooooooo !!!Only a few new specials but there hard as hell to use and there stupid too.The first level in this game is great,the second one sucks,the thrid one is medicore and ther rest get worse and worse and hell dammit' THEY GET WORSE!Waz up?Nothin much.But i thought the there would be some bigger,better half pipes but there the same thing yet worse than before.Wanna skateboard with Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 dude?No.If some one sead this game is good tell them to shut the hell up because this game sucks.Stick to Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 its much better.
| TONY HAWK IS BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER!! | | A Dude from Florida USA says (21/Oct/2001): | I played the first Tony Hawk and it was good,great.Then the second one was even better.But then i bought this one not knowing what to exspect and its the best one yet.Dont listein to anyone who says the other ones are better.It has all the original skaters and some new ones they are:Tony Hawk(of course!),Bucky Lasek(the best skater ever)Bob Burquiest,Steve,Mindy,Officer Dike plus all other new skaters and all the original.Plus the levels are over four times bigger then the second one,eight times bigger than the first tony hawk!!Plus each skater has more than five specials(what an update)plus more new ones and ones that were only for the playstation version.Plus the graphics are AMAZING!There better than the arcade.
Now let me actully review this game:
The levels are full of Grinding Rails,Big Air Pipes,Half Pipes,Whole Pipes,Fun XX Boxes and more.And this time it has every skateboard in CCS magazine!Such as the top brands Blind,Birdhouse,Powell(the best!),Hook Ups(they have cool pictures on em!)Plus over 600 or even more than that and that simply amazed me.And theres no more money crap to worry about,its like the first one with tapes now which gets you better.And theres so many new tricks its like a miracle happend in life!!!Now in create-a-skater you can now create female skaters and also males.There is actully not a best skater though because its how you play with it.Also the option mode is more advanced too and you can switch the controls around. They were cool brands in this game too such as No Fear,Quiksilver,Hawk wear,Vans,DC Shoes and Entines(my favorite kind of shoes are vans).I didnt like the front cover that much though.This aint worth a rental.Buy it instead.Its worth the price.And only get the Playstation or Playstation 2 versions because the xbox and gamecube ones arent as good.

I own the whole THPS trilogy and love every game. Neversoft is brilliant to have developed these games. Tony Hawk Pro Skater Games opened the door for other extreme games. Many complain that the levels aren't big enough or there's not enough to do. Not true. I feel that the replayability of this game is exceptional. Especially since the new hidden combo tricks. Also the levels are made better with moving people who will insult you or praise you. If you bust a trick in front of them you earn a spectator bonus. LA has an earthquake, suburbia has a haunted house, the cruise ship has beautiful women in thongs, and canada has a guy wizzing into the lake. How much better can it get. Plus the new revert feature allows you to manual out of a big vert trick. You have more power over the looks of your create-a-skater. Now you can create females, put sunglasses on, jewelry, select from about 30 hats, and your not limited to only four skaters. When you select your board you can a) once again change your wheel color and b) Select your griptape pattern. You no longer have to buy new tricks just earn new trick slots. In park editor there are all new pieces to trick off of like diving platforms and huge funboxes and there's new hazards like lava and water. I haven't got a modem yet but 2-player is tons of fun. You are now able to taunt other players as well. To those of you who aren't impressed I suggest geting counseling. And don't complain about no cheats cause this game dosen't need them. Plus the Shaun Palmer's Pro Snowboarding demo is fun. All-in-all this game just kicks. And the videos are spectacular!!!!!! The soundtrack has about 25 songs from groups like Alien Ant Farm and Del the Funky Homosapien. Go Buy This Game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Ive been a fan of the tony hawk series even before the 1st game came out, back when the game was only a mere concept. I thought that 1st game was great, but it didn't have enough fetures or secrets. #2 was THE best ps game ever made, combined with cheets the game had endless possibilities. you never got sick of it. Ive had tony hawk 3 for 4 days now and im very dissipointed. the game play isint all that bad, but the levels are horrible. it almost dosent even make you want to paly it. I think that the guys at neversoft need to come up with some new original concepts and hopefully improve. When it comes down to it i guess its worth buying (or at least burning, cause i would never pay full price) cause you will have fun playing it. The games controls and feel are basically the same as tony hawk 2. the levels are very un realistic, and totaly un original. the sound track is pretty good, including music by afi, new music by alien ant farm (not that dumb smooth criminal song), the ramones and more theres only like 1 songs on the wole sound track that really sucks. the graphics have also improved, alot more clear and defined than before. the only part of the game that i think has crap grapics is tokyo, what the hell happened there? oh well its a pretty good game over all but its no tony hawk 2. so go out and get it. its well worth your time and effort!

This is one of one of the best sports games that doesn’t involve a ball to come around in a long time. In my opinion this game almost as good as SSX and a lot better than ANY other skate boarding game ever made. The gameplay is very similar to the previous two titles, adding only the “no comply” and the “revert” command. All of the normal single player modes are in the game, in addition to the new Tutorial Mode to help newbies get started or experts brush up on their moves.
Compared to the other two titles this Tony Hawk offers better graphics, music, create skater customizations, and levels. There are 13 skaters in this game including “Jackass” Bam Margera. There also are 8 different levels in this game and they are so much bigger than the ones in TH 1 or 2. The park editor is bigger and better also. The create skater option is jammed packed with a plethora of customizable options, including jewelry and tattoo’s. You also can do a trick off anything and everything in this game including humans. The game runs at a blazing 60 fps and looks just as good as SSX. It is also the first Playstation 2 game that is Internet compatible. That’s right, in just a few minutes you can play with friends across the street or across the world without that annoying split-screen effect.

I think that you should be able to put in full pipes, and more than 4 high. I really like the way the game is set up. I like that you can do a free skate because other games you can't. But I really liked that you could make your own skater too. The other thing I don't like is that in the free skate you have to unlock all of the parks I think that is pretty dumb. But Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 is one if not my favorite game for Playstation ever made. It is fun and isn't always the same like if you play the free skate once then again its fun all over again, because you learn new tricks and learn to do new things. It really is a fun game and I like the graphics on it. It surprised me that I was playing Playstation when I first turned on the game because the graphics are just phenominal. I really love all the parks and all the different things you can make, I also like the different types of skaters that you can make. I like the great variety of things to do on the game. So in other words if I could pick one game out of the 111 games that I have for Playstation. The game I would pick would definately be Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3. It is the BEST game I have ever played! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

And now I am playing Tony Hawk 3, the greatest of the bunch. What really bugs me about some of the post is that the can't land the tricks, or can't land 360's. I could land fricken 900's before the end my first day with the game. And I wasn't very good at the first 2 games either, so don't think I'm some kinda wizard at this game. But it's not hard. In fact I think the grind meter helps a WHOLE lot. I used to fall and fall again on the old ones because I couldn't judge how close I was to falling. But now I can look at the mter and adjust. And the whole revert thing was a huge add-on. It helps out tricks tremendously because you can go pull a 720 Boneless+melon and get 25,000, revert-manual, go and grind for a while and combine a lotta grinds and flip tricks and get like 250,000. And the levels are great. Awesome graphics, some secret areas, a lotta detail made them very good. But I do wish they had more real parks because they need a venice beach on here. But besides that, this game is perfect. The people griping about a lack of new tricks must not have played the game because there are a bunch of new ones, like the special manuals. Anyway, go buy this game, especially if you have a PS2, like me.

If its on a PSX I agree with you. However, the version for PS2 is a LOT better. I have played both and I must say it is like Tony Hawk 2 but what is wrong with that? It IS like THPS2 except that Neversoft has added better things. All of you people that say you like THPS2 should like THPS3 because it is essentially the same thing only a little better. Now that I've got that out of the way.....
I love the graphics (for PS2) even though it is fantasy it almost seems real.(Except Tokyo)
The sound was also good. The tracks were mostly good but the soundtrack that is sold in stores differes from it slightly. Overall good sound quality.
Now the gameplay is another story, it is WAY too easy. I beat it in about nine hours and I was still not really trying. The revert is really cool in the combos but it still gives low point values. Even though I've beaten it I will play it again because I think all THPS games are good and they are still ok to play.
Also, I think not including Bob Burnquist stopped some people from playing it.

We all expected #3 to have the same affect on it's prequel, and the idiots at neversoft carelessly dwindled away when they could have been thinking and creating new concepts and ideas to blow away THPS2...I am disappointed. Here is a summary. Intro: GREAT!!! they had to have spent the most time on this. Menu: incredibly boring. looks like neversoft lost their imagination. Skaters: nothing exciting, except BAM!!! but you cant really tell its him. Levels: Pretty good, not so realistic, but fun. Tricks: nothing new to get excited about, the shifty's are pretty fun cause I've always loved that trick, but they should've had those before. Skatepark editor: one change. S-mart instead of school on the themes. Create skater: some changes, nothing special. Soundtrack: awesome soundtrack, maybe 2 songs i dont like. they should have picked a better Del tha funky homosapien song, he has some WAAAAY better stuff. I only liked 2 songs on #2, and none on #1, but i like almost all of them on this one. THe game is good, but pretty much the same as #2, not many changes to anything.

| PLEASE MORE AND BETTER STREET LEVELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | | Mac from G'ville, AL USA says (2/Jan/2002): | I really like this game, but it had barely any good technical things, THPS2 has better and more realistic street cources. The new THPS has more park and less street, the Los Angeles level sucks on THPS3, everything on their was fake. On THPS2, there were more real skate spots, and better levels. THPS1 comes in w/ both street and park levels, except all the levels were made up places, except for burnside. THPS2 lost the ranking of park levels but gained some of the best and most realistic cources ever, such as Venise Beach, Philli', and more. THPS3 lost the taste in realistic street levels, but made a big boom w/ the park cources, most of them were fake though. I think that THPS3 is still the best of the ones yet for parks, but THPS2 is the all around best for street cources. I really was hoping to have !!!!LOVE PARK!!!! on THPS3, but it wasn't. I wish also, that they had put another school on THPS3. Also, I like THPS3 more than the others due to the the fact that the THPS3 game engine is a whole lot better. | This is for the guy who thinks burnquist is in the game | | Joe from Baltimore, MD, USA says (29/Dec/2001): | Bob burnquist is NOT in the game, Bam Margera is from a TV show called Jackass (hence the jackass flip trick in the game), In fact he is even called the "skating jackass" in the game. It amazes me how people post things in discussion boards that have no idea what they are talking about, and as for you who knows so much about skating, you should know that it is not a nickname for Burnquist, Im not even really that much of a skating fan, just a fan of Tony Hawk Pro Skater, but I know that they are not the same person. As for the game, it is incredible, it may not have as many levels as most of us would have liked, but it is completely customizable, has tons of new tricks (that you can set for any skater), the music is great and it is a lot of fun to play. I have the PS2 version, but ive seen the psone version and i liked it just as much, Im not sure how long this game is gonna last, but i know in tony hawk 1, im still able to find enjoyment out of it so im sure this game is gonna go a long way. These games keep on getting better. I give it a 9 out of 10 (the PS2 version gets a 10)

Dont waste your fricken time posting comments about how you hate the game. If you dont like it, no one wants to hear why. And if you suck so badly at the game that you cant beat it and you need cheats, then get a life. And if you skate board and say this game sucks (or other Tony Hawk games), id like to see you go do the tricks the pros do nowadays. So If you got a problem, go see a shrink. For those of you who posted good reviews, good for you, keep it up. At least some people are positive nowadays.....Anyways.. this game is great. The graphics arent bad at all and the gameplay is excentric (did i spell that right?). The build your own park is a sweet idea for those of us who like to plan out unique things. It also is cool that the create-a-skater allows you to choose so many items. The hidden areas and mission goals are creative. Even though i adore this game, i think Underground is better.
P.S. For those of you checking reviews, dont pass this one off. Its a perfectly fine review. Im just stating my opinion of other reviews and the game.
| just a little better than THPS2 | | batwoman from Cape Girardeau, MO, 63703 says (16/Sep/2003): | THPS3 has its better and worse things. i like the specials better, and they have Bam. but they kicked Bob Burnquist, who is one of my favorites, so that wiped. i like THPS2's career mode better. earning money is more realistic-like. the decks on 2 are better also. but the levels on 3 fricking rip!!! they are way better! and they have more awesome logos for tshirts in create a skater. for anyone who listens to the music, its better on 2, tho 3 has a song by The Ramones (Blitzkrieg Bop). i was so bummed about the baords on 3. they only gave Elissa Steamer TSA and Etnies boards (same with a few others, only different brands). i havn't gotten and FMVs yet, so i can't say if they're better or worse. the custom skater boards really really suck. sorry i don't mean to be stuck on decks but they SUCK!!! the graphics are a little better though, and the sound is too. like it sounds real. its pretty ok. it plays the same as 2. well anyway i would only buy THPS3 if i could find it pretty cheap. otherwise its a bit of a rip off.

This has unfortunately left to much out there, the game shows unbelievable potential and I would still recommend getting it however more should have been in the game. This not not at all harken back to the point I got THPS2 and was overwhelmed by the things needed to be done. Basically, this game could have been absolutely phenomenal had there been more goals, etc. Instead, this game was simply too short after several hours of playing the 2nd I still felt like I was nowhere this is unfortunate, considering that the game has great playability, better than 1 or 2. Levels like philadelphia in 2 simply are not there, they need more goals, more motivation. I grew to like the mass amounts of things needed in the 2nd and the lack thereof in 3 has simply left me wanting something more. Simply put, 3 set me up to want tons of levels tons of goals with its fantastic gameplay but left me with very little.

Sure the levels are slightly larger than the first 2 games but that doesnt matter if the levels suck. second, i wish we had better skaters to choose from, there are very few new tricks, the levels are very unreal, they are ridiculous and the pedestrians are annoying and obnoxious at best.they shouldve spent less time on the interactiveness of the levels and instead spent time on making them better, more realistic, and more levels.the only good hubba ledges in tony hawk 3 were so small, and compared to the player physics, they felt smaller than curbs.give us something better to skate next time.....and give us josh kalis instead of tony hawk or bucky lasek please.....i mean he has a tv commercial!!!
| Struggling to come to grips with what I just bought | | lucifudge from aok hill va usa says (4/Nov/2001): | Alright, I play THPS2 way too much. I play it with friends at least 6 hours a week. I am a major fan of THPS2, I am gooooood at the game. I get a lot of enjoyment out of pulling 2million point combos. So when I went to the store, dizzy with excitement about THPS3, I thought I was about to experience something on a whole new level. To be fair, and since I am a huge fan of the franchise, THPS3 is good and fresh. The levels have huge potential, and are very interactive. Here is the reason I am let down.....unlike THPS2, this game makes your grind/lip/and manual balance run out about twice as quickly. So instead of looking to see what the next line in my combos are going to be, I have to watch my grind meter, then my manual meter, then back to the grind meter. After 7 hours of play, my high score is only 190,000.....pathetic according to THPS2 standards. I am hoping that this is something I get used to, but if not, I am majorly dissapointed in this

This game is just THPS2 with new levels and a couple of tweeks. The PS2 version is much better. Why couldnt they just put the PS1 version on 2 cds so they could put in more detail? This really isnt worth buying if u have already got number 1 or 2, but if u havent got them, get it. Also, i beat it in a day, which is just pathetic. Longetivity is about a 2/10, graphics were fairly good, 8/10 and gameplay is a 9/10. A great game, but leaves you wanting more... One more thing, why arent there any cheats? Once i beat the game i thought 'ok, now i need some cheats to make it even more fun' and there werent any. Or am i just not looking hard enough? I really dont care, like i dont care much for this game. Much better to get something like Music 2000 or Cool Boarders 4, or better yet, Go out and skate!-ed
