Good, but not enough yet! | | Digimaster says (26/Dec/2001): | So, finally digimon 2 has popped up from nowhere. Is it any better? Well, not much. Even though it has improved microscopically in some factors, D2 still isn't as good as a fan would like to be. It's not a BAD game, though, it's very enjoyable even though you may not be that big a digi-maniac. Well, read on and get waht I mean!
Graphics: 7
The digimon look a bit more polished up and cool, that's for sure. But the background, God, the background! Play all you like to the end of the game, but all you ever play in is some maze always adding a floor or two. Just to take a break, you visit a colourful, machine-riddled city. As the character's faces are too messed-up to recognise, a kind of window pops up with your face magnified when chatting. It should not bother you at first, but after a while you really get thoughtful. Is it any worth gettin thru a game just to see the same old fiddly background over and over? =( In the first game, you progressed through many different areas in the game, going back to find new stuff. There were forests, jungles, mounts, wastelands and canyons, but no, in this dump you just move in boring mazes. Bomberman world or pac-man anyone?
Sound: 7:
Not bad. For the first day of play that is! Every fight it's the same old tune, which keeps repeating and repeating! Yes, there are some differences as you progress thru domains, but every fight you get the same music. Snoresville!
This time around the digimon speak when attacking; most of them in japanese! The only cool music you ever get is the boss music! That's the style!
Control: 7
O dear. There's a tough digimon chasing me. I can't fight, I'm not so powerful yet. Damn, will this bug thing i'm driving go a bit faster. Drat, he's got me. game Over. Right, the thing is, you drive a crappy bug-like car which moves a step per second. If there's a digimon nearby, you move in turns. This usually ends up in you getting trapped and waste lots of time fighting. During battles, digimon wait about 3 seconds before attacking, and what happens is always the same. You attack, or miss. If you hit. The enmy falls. It's his turn. 3 more seconds. He attacks. You fall down. And it's your turn. And so on. Also, learning techniques is very slow, as you must keep DNA digivolving. In the first game, the characters moved quite quickly, and fought much better in a brill battling mode. You learnt techniques by beating digimon and learning from them. Not this time! Also, when in cities you character moves very slowly. Like a turtle.
Fun Factor/ Lifespan: 7.
Surprisingly, it still is quite fun collecting digimon and training them. Then you can battle it out with your friends. But hold, what kind of battel mode is this? You keep bashing a button so as to determine attacks. Does it get any worse. Luckily it isn't THAT bad in one-player mode. In the first game, the battel mode was a different game in itself. You amde tournaments and fought in brill arenas. It was as great as any beat em' up. The only thing better in the one-palyer mode is that you don't still feed them, train them (a bit boring) and potty train(!) them, and they don't die even if they are knocked out. That was the vast improvement. That said, it should last quite long if you're a digifan.
Overall: 7
With a seven in all factors, as I see it, D2 is beaten fair and square by the first installment. By the next time there'll be a new game (wouldn't it be great to have a digimon action game?!!) other than the card-playing one, the makers should have boosted it up.
| TIPS | | MohsinMan99 from Saudi Arabia says (28/Apr/2005): | This game is the best game in the digimon series. I was mad enough to think the first one was the best. It was best only when u first start playing it. Afterwards it becomes bad. Now I would give ya some tips:
1. First, u need a lot of DP to get secret characters such as Omnimon, etc. To get DP easily, I recommend u go to scan and ROM domains. On the twelfth floor or fourteenth, u get many chips such as Attack chip, etc.If u r lucky enough, u may get 5 DNAup chips from ROM dome and 2 from Scan dome( u will mostly get stat chips here)
2. When your next level is 9999999, just DNA that digimon.

| Digimon World 2: a sequal, but is it better than the original? | | DarkTyranomon from New York says (18/May/2001): | At first appearence Digimon World 2's graphics seem to have improves, as backrounds improve and the battle system has drastically changed from an adventure style format to one much closly associated with RPG's. The first 5-10 minutes of gameplay are unfortunatly dissappointing, and leave most avid digimon fans craving more while the power is turned off and the game collects dust. Although this game is rated for kids, I doubt that many will play the game all the way through as patience is a virtue practiced little among them. The 4-way directional control in the cities and the 8-way control in the "domains" are reminiscent of 8-bit controllers and leaves something to be desired from the games predecessor in the field of control. It takes some time to get used to. Progress and development of the game can be summed up in one word SLOW. This game is not recommended for those who want quick battles, a fast paced-game and new digimon at the drop of a hat. For those who have gotten over the clunky controls and the speed of the game; I commend you. It requires a great deal of patience to really enjoy the game. Digivolving becomes more complex with the added features of DNA digivolving where you can combine two Digimon into another. The digivolving sequences for the most part, make sence and are accurate with those found in Digimon Adventure. This makes for some interesting results. Items are abundant and avalible at many stores. The number and complexity are risen as your main form of transportation relies on a Digi-beetle which you can customise as you see fit with cannons, tires, storage sections etc.. The story is decent taking off several years after the end of the first Digimon world game. At its current MSRP price of $44.99, this is only for TRUE Digimon fans (Such as myself). For anybody else who wants to enter the scene I suggest the first game, or the anime series itself.
| Best game for Playstation | | Game Player from Port Washington, New York says (28/Oct/2003): | This game is mad fun but mad hard which was why it was appealing to me. This game has alot of fun boards, but alot of challenging boards. There is a wide variety of digimon in this game From rookies to Megas. You can get omnimon, Imperialdramon, flamdramon, Wargreymon, metalgarurumon, and many more. This game has 3 different lands. It has at least 20 different stages, each stage with wild digimon and a boss digimon. In this game, you travel in a digi-beetle. There are 3 tamer teams you can join. The Gold Hawks, The Blue Falcons, and the Black Sword. Each team will give you a different starting digimon. I know this cause ive joined every team. The best team by far is the Gold Hawks. The starting digimon you get from there is Agumon. Next is the blue falcons, where you will get patamon as a partner. Lastly is the black sword, where u get demidevimon. You get a license and you are ready to go. This game has alot of twists and turns. For your digibeetle, you can get upgrades like weapons, tires, arms, hands, sensors and so on and so forth. For the weapons, you can buy an R-cannon, a Z-cannon, a shooter gun, which comes with the digibeetle, and a bug zapper. For the tires, and i know you are thinking "What are the tires for" well, there are acid swamps that will cause damage to your digibeetle. The tires protect your digibeetle from the acid swamps. The hands are for opening treasue chests which sometimes hold good stuff and other times, nothing. The arms are for disarming mines. The sensors are for sensing bug nests, which will invade your beetle, and mines which can cause damage or do nothing, depending on how lucky you are. Overall, this game RULES!!!!!!!!!!
| want to be the best? here's one... | | The Master of Digimon from Singapore , Yishun says (13/Jul/2006): | how to be the best?... let me teach you... get a imperialdramon.... how to get one? first, catch a airdramon and a greymon and train them until their level maxed out... then DNA digivolve them and you will get a veemon... if you have DNA up chip... simpily just give 3 DNA up chip to veemon and train til EL 11 and it will digivolve to flamedramon... if it's DP is not 4 and above... it will digivolve into veedramon... if that happens... don't panic... just train til it's level maxed out and catch a greymon and train that greymon til it 's level is maxed out too ... then DNA digivolve them and you will get a veemon again... keep repeating this ... when it's DP is 6+... at EL 11.... veemon will digivolve to flamedramon and at EL 21... it will digivolve to Raidramon... if it's DP is not 6 or above... it will digivolve to aeroveedramon... so same method... this will happen ..., so train the aeroveedramon til it's level maxed out... and... catch a greymon and train that greymon til it's level maxed out and then DNA digivolve the both of them to get a veemon again... when it's DP reaches 8 and above.... at EL 11, it will digivolve to flamedramon... EL 21, it will digivolve into Raidramon and EL 31, it will digivolvye into imperialdramon...if it's DP is not 8 ... at EL 31, veemon will digivolve to phoenixmon instead of imperialdramon... so, just DNA digivolve it again with a greymon... it's tough but it's worth it... good luck!!! for other things you want to know... like more things, like attacks or digimon world 3.... you can E-mail me at bad_axel< remove me > at hotmail.com..... thanks....
| a good party | | Jason from Malaysia says (1/May/2007): | this is the same person speaking, jasonleongff7< remove me > at hotmail.com, if you have any questions, email me up. I'm gonna tell everyone here now how to make a really good party. Firstly a good party SHOULD have digimon of all three types, or the whole party with only 1 type of digimon. Secondly, you must plan your attacks. If you look it from an offensive view, the best party would be 3 out of these: Imperialdramon, Diaboromon, Pukumon and Magnadramon. Now.. what I would recommend you is that you need a party with all three: attacking, healing and status effects.... such as, Imperialdramon, for the strong offence, Seraphimon, Phoenixmon or Jijimon for the healing and reviving and another one that causes status effects. Megas rarely have status effects so they actually obtain these from their ultimate forms. the strongest ones are like the duo scissors claw and concert crush. I would recommend you duo scissors claw as your status effect.. it is DEVASTATINGLY POWERFUL. In your party, the offensive should get on with its work.. and mp disks are needed to refill some of its powerful attacks requiring extra lots of mp, the healing and reviving unit SHOULD also get up a strong attack to assist the offensive unit and the status effect should be your most important unit. It helps to do things such as lowering ur enemies offense and defense and paralyzing them. well, that's all i hope all of you are playing it well and using my tip. And again.. DIGIMON ROCKS!
| Digi Havoc =) | | Zaur from Santiago, Chile. says (18/Aug/2001): | Ok. I think this game needs a 10, cuz...
Graphics:
Really good compared to the ones in digi world 1. I put a 8 in graphics, because they have the error that all 3-d figures in console games have: sometimes u can see through some parts of the figure.
Sound:
Annoying at first, exciting at last =). Good sound. I give a 7 in sound, cuz the sound easily starts to work bad ( no sound, some parts of the sound, late sound, etc ). That happens a lot when i use Scissor Claw =(.
Items:
Great. Lots o' items. You can get them at cheap prices. Really good. 10.
Enviroment:
Good. To be inside a digital world, the enviroment is great. A 8, cuz it may get a lil' boring when it comes to enviroment (inside domains, guard teams, shops, etc), cuz it's full of machines =(.
Digimon:
Excellent. A plenty of digimon to collect =). I have to confess, i'm trying to become a master virus digi tamer. I want to get all the virus digimon. I don't care if i currently don't have them. The ones i had still count as my collected digimon. 10.
Overall:
Excellent. 10.
BTW, this game is not recommended for little kids. You need a lot of patience to enjoy this game. Patience is a virtue that not too much kids practice. You also need "gaming valor" for playing the game (don't run from everything, you'll need those EXP). Gaming Valor is one of the less practiced things among the kids. =).

| Some tips | | A gamer from Richmond KY, USA says (4/Sep/2006): | This game is awsome, but it is not easy and very long. You have to be determined to spend hours and hours training, but in the end your result is very rewarding. The way you get DP points up is by DNA Digivolving. There are rare digimon you can get by doing this. The music is cool exept for the battle music, it gets too dull. My digimon on my best character are Impeildramon, Baihumon, another Baihumon, Omnimon, Machinedramon, Metalseadramon, Gryphonmon, Gran Kuwagamon (soon to be Diaboromon) and Marine Angemon.
Baihumon and Omnimon can be befriended in Tera Domain, but its difficult so you have to keep at it. Another way is to digivolve a Metalgreymon with 20 dp to mega (Omnimon) and digivolve a Meteormon or Weregarurumon with 20 dp to mega (Baihumon). Impeildramon is mega, you need a Veemon with 8+ dp for it, it is the easy of the super rare digimon to get so I would train to get one of those first if you are newer to the game. Kimerdramon or whatever its name is can be found on Tera Domain level 99, but it is only a 1 in 666 chance you will see it. Tera Domain is the domain you get after beating the game, all mega level digimon exept Impeildramon are available there. Oh yeah and this game is too good to cheat, don't use gameshark, the people who are truley talented don't cheat!
| This Game Rocks | | Digi Fan from Richmond, Ky says (13/Oct/2007): | I got this game for my 8th birthday, and im now 15 and it's still my favorite. Its for playstation 1, so the graphics aren't great, but it really is an awsome game. Even now, I improve every time I start a new character. Admittedly, the game can get kind of repetetive and takes major determination, it's not the kind of game you try to get through as fast as you can, instead you want to take it as slow as possible, take lots of time training. This is the only game I've ever played which lasts so long, I wish more would be this way. Even though it's old, I would say it's worth buying.
Some Hints for New Players:
-Gold Hawk team has the strongest digimon by far, so if you want it easy join them, but for the more experienced player, join Blue Falcons and you can get some interesting dna combos.
-Take your time to train. Before you face your first boss, get your three digimon to at least level six. You can beat the boss with lower level digimon, but lots of training pays off (I get mine to 7-8th level before first boss)
-When your digimon can't level up anymore, Dna digivolve it as soon as possible, don't wait.
-If you get stuck, talk to people, lots of people, all the people. If you still can't figure something out, go online and look, there are many walkthroughs.
| Great potential... many errors. | | EvilPerson from Canada says (1/Jul/2001): | This game is by far better than the first. There are many possibilities for digivolution however to those without the guide and not willing to think some aspects may be confusing.
I will just break it down by creating a few Catagories.
Level Design
For the actual design, it's not bad. However, for creativity/texturing it gets a -8. Very plain and basic domains that anyone could build, with simple square and rectangular maps (I could literally make a better map myself).
Digivolution
Good and bad. The possibilities are endless, however level restrictions are what bring this down. It takes numerous DNA digivolves just to ALLOW your character to eventually get up to Mega.
Items
Mediocre. The thing that angers me is that they go to your server and not straight to a place where you could use them. Just the annoyance of having to Transfer every 5 seconds. Also, at the beginning, there is virtually NO room for items. About 8 or 10 slots that fill up VERY quickly.
This game has so much potential but they just ruined half the fun with level restrictions. It takes about 5 hours to get 3 characters up to level 13, and you have to DNA digivolve them over 3 times just to create a character able to go to Mega form. That's over 15 hours to get one decent character.
| Leveling up is cool but it is hard to get the right digimon and a high max EL. | | Hilgo McHarzafarth from San Francisco,USA says (12/Jun/2003): | This game is better than the first one but has many weak points. The digimon should digivolve into what they're supposed to. This DP thing is crap. The storyline could use some work. There should be a set max level instead of the stupid formula.(higher digimon EL + ((Lower EL divided by 5 rounded down)))The graphics are alright. I think you should be inside the Digi-Beetle instead of way above it in the corny domains.WOULD IT BE THAT HARD TO CONVERT THE ANNOUCERS' VOICES TO ENGLISH!!!!! How the attacks should also change. For example, when Veemon uses V-headbutt,he punches. They could also make it look like they actually HIT eachother. The music is SO boring! The attacks are alright. You shouldn't have to take turns moving with a wild digimon when one is near. In one file, I have Skullgreymon(favorite),V-Myotismon,and Metalgarurumon all maxed out on levels 51,46,and 49. On my other file,I have MetalTyrannomon(doesn't digivolve into Mega),Magnamon, and Skullmeramon. They shouldn't make the Tera Domain. I think this game is over- and under-rated way too much. This games fun factor is mediocre and personally,I've seen better. I rated this game 8 stars because their was so much improvement from the first one but it still needs a lot more.
| yo listen up to what i gotta tell you guys and girls | | zack from south dakota but i was born in minnesota says (7/Jul/2003): | when i first got it it rocked, and yes it is awsome, but i lost my copy of it somehow, but i bought another copy on ebay just 2 days ago, ill be getting it soon again. it was real fun in the beggining and the rest, yes i do admit there could be better music but still it rocks. the boss music is awsome. yes this game is pretty hard for me and im sure for others but hey i gotta say this game is real hard and challenging then digimon world 1. i thought digimon world 1 was kinda a letdown because as far as the digimon always have to eat and sleep. but enough of digimon world 1. i suggest if u havent played digimon world 2, then i say get it because it is really challenging and the digimon rock. lots to choose from, o YEA CHOOSE GoLD HAWKS CUZ They aRE THE BEST TEAM IN THE GAME HAHA. well enough of typing, digimon world 2 looks awsome and is the best game ever for psx and is a real good game no matter what. AIGHT u people can think whatever u want but dont listen to those fags that say its bad because its not, jeeze i played and played AND played it till i mean not till because i havent beat it yet but i did play for ever each day earning and digivolve all sorts of digimon. well see you girlz and guyz later. PEACE.
| Quality Gaming Experience | | Digi world freak from Halstead, Essex, England says (22/Jul/2001): | I don't know about anyone else but I think Pokemon has passed it. The games get pretty boring and they are on gameboy, which doesn't exactly lend itself to good graphics, eh?
But when I found out that there was a game similar to this on Playstation, I knew I had to try it. I rented out and at first was not to impressed. But once you get the hang of it it becomes such an amazing game.
For fans of the series they will love this. I personally, rarely watch the cartoon as it not incredibly good ( Except for when a digimon reaches a level it never has before :-) All the digimon are there and although the digimon wont always digivolve to what you want them to, i.e Gabumon to Centaurimon?, they will eventually digivolve to what you want (Garurumon).
The Graphics are pretty good and seeing Machinedramon in full 3-D is great. The sound is average but you do get to hear the digimon say the names of their attacks as they attack. The gameplay is also very impressive. There are about 30 dungeons with different digimon in and each one took me about 3 hours.
Absolutely great game with lifespan, gameplay and graphics - what more could you want.
| The best of the best | | Remraf Haven from Ada, Oklahoma, USA says (6/Feb/2007): | Im the kind of person who loves a game where i can enter a world with imaginary monsters who will protect me and fight for me.
Now i know not everyone likes to deal with pokemon and monster rancher, but hey we all love final fantasy, right.
consider this game your mix of all three..
You get to catch your own digimon, train them(until they get to their max level), DNA digivolve them(breed them so to speak), and make them stronger......... all while following the main story line witch isnt horrible (but never really goes anywhere)
Its an awesome game that takes some patience ('cause of the constant DNA digivolving witch allows your digimon to gain higher levels but also starts them back at level 1 and at their rookie form.. ) none the less its still an awesome game. . .
All in all if you were ever a digimon fan ive got to say you'll love this game.
It may be hard to find nowadays but if you can come across it your in luck.. .
and hell if you dont want it and come across it ill pay you a third extra than what you paid for it. .
anyways keep your gaming to the max

| Great game, some tips | | GlennRekkoha from Poland, Kudowa says (17/Apr/2007): | Well I'm an old PSX player, when I got this game about 6 years ago I was shocked how addicting it was. I passed the game but I never player so much to get to the chaos tower 99th floor. Now that I got a PS2 I'm playing it again.
Some tips for semi-advanced players:
Kuwamon can be your best friend! His attack is great because it lowers enemies defence two times when you attack- good for bosses. At ultimate Okuwamon gets an attack which does that to all enemies.
At the moment I'm gathering 18 Kunemons and 18 Dokunemons in order to combine them all and get Diaboromon - 20+ DP.
For Veemon lovers- there's a Veedramon in floors 7-9 in DriveDomain, sometimes you get a map in which you can shoot many gifts at him and get some, combine some and then get Flamedramon.
Watch out for LEOMON because if your Digimons are quite powerfull, Leomon can pack a great counter-attack.
(You attack him for 100 dmg, and you get 120 back! Ouch)
If you guys have any further questions (maybe about my Diaboromon plan) then e-mail me zero< remove me > at vp.pl
A great game and a MUST BUY for oldschool PSX players!
Cheers!
| One of the Best Game Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | | diana from Philippine says (6/Jan/2003): | This game always gives me an energize when the first time I bought it at my classmate last year. Someone says this game stinks, but their wrong. I found myself that this game is such a great. Not only the domain is so cool, but also all of the digimon here were so great, that why I always want to catch them, but I can,t catch them all. The graphics were not that nice, the sounds not that even good to hear, but it still have a good fun factor to enjoy with. Hey! Every one out there, have you tried to digivolved all of your digimons into mega form? I do. Like Omnimon, I-dramon, Wargreymon, Metalgarurumon, Machinedramon, Diaborimon but I already DNA digivolve it with another, Baihumon, Imperialdramon but i alraedy DNA digivolve it to, and the others were in Champion and Ultimate form (hek! hek!). It's hard to get all the items, important items, digimons, and what so ever in the first place, but as soon as you keep playing it, you'll never get bored. It's really fun of playing this specially when you have your digi-beetle and upgrading it. I really love this game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
| Why this game is good. | | Rich from Richland, WA, of the USA says (24/Jun/2001): | Okay, here's the skinny. This game is good bacause:
A. Although the graphics aren't steller, they do make the monsters look good and you can see what's going on. The Digimon looked for the most part spot on and that's a plus. The monsters were cool looking, and the representations of their attacks while again not steller were still amusing.
B. The music was complimentary and although I dought that it will will even show up on the bill boards it never got to be overbearing or annoying.
C. You can actually put it down. What do I mean by this, well you know how most games are, If you pause for a second or are forced to look away, the instant you look back your mortally wounded, NOT HERE. Simply put if your favorite show comes on or you have to answer the phone you don't even have to pause the game, you just switch it over to whatever else and your good to go and you don't have to wonder what the hell happened, EVEN DURING BATTLE, ESPECIALLY During Battles!
D. It's not Poke'mon I don't know about you but I'm getting sick of that (little electric yellow rat).
| THIS GAME SUCKS | | Bobben J. K. Carmicheal says (24/Jul/2006): | The storyline sucks and so do the digimon. The digibeetle sucks and the battling is the worst the only time I play the stupid game is when I want to take a nap. When you battle another set of digimon you put in a few commands and then you have to wait at least twenty minutes before you can do anything again. I would rather go to the zoo and watch the pands sleep than play this game. I need 100 words to post this stupid review so I will just talk about my plans to infultrate the Korean Millitary Base. I plan on being armed with nothing but a silenced pistol, a knife, a radio, and a bomb. This is a secret millitay pursuite that will end up with our victory. This mission will start with me being dropped off on a desserted island where I will row my way toward Korea. Once I get there I am to wait till nightfall where I am to make my move. There is supposed to be an underground tunnel where I will make my way through and plant a bomb deep within the base.
| This Is A Great Game But Could Be Better | | Philip Tackett from Denver,Colorado,USA & Big Springs, Texas, USA says (4/Jan/2002): | I think that this game is pretty cool, but the battle isn't even half as good as Digimon World 1 because in Digimon World 2 The Battle Is Never Any Different exept for the different enemys, while in Digimon World 1,the Scenery was much different ever time, and your digimon would run around and attack with different attacks, similar to the show..I like the fact that there are more digimon to choose from at the beginning and you can get many different kinds throughout the game by giving them presents and things like that. The graphics are pretty good, but they could be better.I like the fact that you don't have to worry about taking your digimon to the bathroom at all.The Sound Is The Same in most domains and in all battles other than boss battles,so there is not much to brag about. Its Pretty original, but not in the best way.I like the fact that you get to go to mega though.I just wish they had Terriermon,Guilmon,And renamon.I'm Giving This A Seven.
