Alone is da BOMB!!!!!!!!!!44851

Jerry Bleez from Dar es salaam, Tanzania says (15/Jun/2005):
I have palayed all of the RE series but they all do not catch Alone In the Dark, best storyline and puzzles although they are confusing sometimes. the thing i like about this game is that it has different enemies to fight unlike RE only zombies. it scary and maybe because in africa we are not used to games but when io played it with friends we were so scrared and stimulated each corner we werer moving. i hate the saving part, it takes time when saving
but all in all I will give it my 8/10

elysia says (3/Jan/2005):
ok alone in the dark is scary, difficult, and at times intens but resident evil is still the #1 game that i love dearly. all my chick friends hate that i'm not a girrly girl and that i'm kind of a tommboy anyway, i give the game a 2 because it seems as though they were trying to copy resident evil!!!

ALone in the dark:The new nightmare rocks the world!!!36089

Levi Smith from Tasmania says (26/Nov/2003):
Alone in the dark is totally cool the first I played it with some friends we were scared out of are wits!Residant evil is really sucky it could never compare with alone in the dark the sound effects, characters, monsters, guns, music and every thing else is awsome especially the story.Silent hill is pretty good but still alone in the dark is better. At the moment I am pretty stuck I need some help with like someone that is really good at PS1 games.I rather be Aline because i'm going better with her.The only bad thing is when ever I want to save the game I need to find a charm of saving first I thimk it is a pretty dumb idea to do a saving progress like that.I gave alone int he dark a 10!

Totally enthralling experience which takes you into a horror movie33026

A gamer from stockport england says (6/Oct/2003):
The animation and effects are quite stunning.
You feel as if you are there fighting the dogs, zombies and other creatures of the nightmare. It has a good mix of combat and puzzle solving, although I admit to the occasional reference to a walkthrough on a couple of occasions when puzzles defeated me.
I thoroughly enjoyed the game playing both charactors stories which were clevery linked throughout.I only hope that this quality game has not spoiled it for me from playing other games. I doubt if their will be any game to equal it.But I'm hoping.

ow my god!25764

bryony from u.k says (19/Jun/2003):
this game is out of this world! each corner you turn there is a fun and exciting twist that makes you want to play for hours or even days. the game has a mined blowing storyline and wicked characters.the graphics are cool and the music makes it spooky.
the first time i played this i was scared out of my pants and for about a week i refused to sleep with the light out it was sooooooo real although it is realy difficult to play with health running out and amo. running out it makes it hard and fustrating sometimes.
this game is one of the best games i've played on (and belive me i've played on a lot)it has everything adventure, horror, suspence, action and sarchasm.
so go out and get and trust me you won't be sorry!

Alone in the Dark 4: The New Nightmare25764

Kacie Birdsong from California, USA says (20/Feb/2003):
Although this is a hard game and I had a lot of trouble passing it (took about 4 days non-stop), I would recomend buying or renting. It has some pretty awsome graphics for a ps1 game. The only thing I did not like is the resemblance to Resident Evil. This is a good game also but it was to much like it. I suggest if you get stuck finding a walkthrough (beleive me I had to).

It is good.6407

Spiv from Toronto Ontario Canada says (17/Mar/2002):
Ok some of you are RE freaks, probably little kids who don;t understand that game. Alone in the Dark is a very well built game. One problem is the voice acting. It is not the best, but it does make RE not look as scary anymore (incase you little kids didn't notice this game (as this is a a remake) is the original surivor horror game, it started it all) so if you like RE you have to like this game or there wouldn't be a RE. The game is great some of the puzzles seem challenging until you finally realize the ease of them, though finding key items in the order you're suppose is bad. I got through many parts without solving a puzzle or finding the right key, this bothers me because I feel I may miss something from the storyline.

resident is still the best of course5407

Némès from Bordeaux, FRANCE says (23/Jan/2002):
Wow wow wow, this game is not bad, but have you tasted silent hill and resident evil...? especially nemesis. These games are really scary, I cant't play it when Im alone, but alone in the dark...I can't play it alone, and in the dark...Views are static, you are not really in the action as a resident evil or a silent hill...
(sorry for my english, im french...)

Kind Of Cool5014

Arkham from Shadow Island. USA says (30/Dec/2001):
Is everyone here being paid by infogrames? Yes, the game is good, but better than RE:Nemesis?? you must be dreaming.
This is a scary game but it dont have half the action of RE, besides the last part of the game just doesn't make any sense (Im talking about the carnaby part) Items in your inventory dissapear, charaters show up in a movie sequence and the next second they're no where to be found and that last enemy is just funny... not to talk about the way you kill it.
In conclusion. Is a good game, but calling it the best horror game of history is nothing but a bad joke.

COOL HORROR GAME.RESIDENT EVIL SUCKS COMPARED TO THIS.4035

The Ching Chong CHing from Bling Bling 3 says (15/Oct/2001):
You heard what i sead.Resident Evil sucks compared to this and it does. This is 100% times scarer and a funky, cool weird horror story and the gory blood looks real plus the monsters are cool and the main charecter looks like a radical horror hunter.Dont get any horror game unless it says Alone In The Dark:The New Nightmare!

The best survival horror game on Playstation!2839

Mano Saarinen from Vaasa, Finland says (26/Jun/2001):
I`ve been waiting for this game about an year and finally it was released. This game will scare the hell of you and the graphics will even more improve this fear element. This game have an advanced and very realistic light effects, expesially the flashlight effect. You have to play this game as Edward and Aline to get the full experience and full story. This game beats all the other survival horror games for sure. WHY ARE YOU STILL READING THIS? GO, GET THIS GAME!

The Ultimate Survival-Horror experience.2670

Luke Mitchell from Melbourne, Australia! says (11/Jun/2001):
This game really is a must have, even if you don't usually like this sort of genre. At the start of the game you have the option to take 2 paths. Edward Carnby, or Aline (forgot her second name!) After an unusual force causes the plane to go nuts, they parachute out. Carnby lands in the woods and Aline lands on top of a deserted mansion. You then choose who you want to play as, and the story begins. Both characters have entirely different stories, so you will want to play through it twice to get the full experience. It's full of devilish puzzles and wierd twists that'll make you shiver, and the music or LACK of music is placed perfectly around the game to give each area just the right affect. If your timid or weak of heart, I recommend not playing this game in darkness. But for the full scare-factor, play it at night with all of the lights off.
During the game, considering most areas are pitch black, the characters have a torch to show them the way. Some monsters react to the torch and in every room there is a light switch, which adds to the replay value, because there are monsters that like the light, or others that hate light and dissapear when it is turned on.
Overall, this really is an ultimate gaming experience for all Playstation owners. With great graphics, sound effects, voice overs and storylines, this game will not be a dissapointment.
Just make sure you have batteries in your torch!

Alone in the Dark 4: The New Nightmare2673

nigel from staffordshire, united kingdom says (11/Jun/2001):
This game is solid it is an awsome game and if you ain't got it them i suggest you get it. if you like resident evil well, you will like this game better. I found that it scared the pants off me within the first 10 minutes?? although the downside of it is that after being scared half to death, i found that i ran out of ammo quickly and health and finding ammo was as hard as playing the game. but hey with an equilizer extreme CD i got infinate lives and weapons but it didnt spoil the game as i used the walkthrough too. because if i didnt use them i would of been on it this time next year. but well worth the money and far far far better than resident evil and much scarier tooooooo.

difficult but enjoyable, the 15+ sign says it all!2558

Jill M from Newcastle, UK says (29/May/2001):
when i first bought Alone in the dark 4 i was unimpressed, but that was probably because i was expecting more of a resident evil zombie type of game, plus, i have the 1st and 2nd games and they are totally different. I thought it was difficult at first because a chose Aline which i thought was the harder option but i started again with Carnby and found it easier!
Id give this game thumbs up, but its not for the younger players!

so far so good2494

shawn from Langley, British Columbia, Canada says (20/May/2001):
By chance i have recived a copy of Alone in the Dark 4: The New Nightmare by chance. If you like resident evil even the slightest you will like this game. Same type of game play but with much better graphics. The controls are simular to resident evil much as the basic gameplay. Definatly a turn the lights off kinda game, if you want the full experiance. You can pick one of two paths at the begining of the game. I don't know so much if one is easier then the other, for i have not completed both, but assuming not it's just a different point of view the story you follow. I recomend this game as a buy.
