I love this game so much. It has drama, humor, love, family, and everything else you could want in a game. I highly highly recomend it. You won't be dissapointed.

if u want to win the game and u dont have a lot of % on your farm try to do recipes it gives a lot % and girls loves men's who can cook!!
also a good thing to do in winter is to cut some wood or go mining and the best place to mine is on mother hill on the lake there is a mine which u can go in only in winter cauz water is frozen!!
try to be friend with the more people u can cauz they enfluence the mayor thomas to keep you at the end of the 4th year!!
try to get sweet potatoes cauz they grow in 5 days and gives a lot of money and if u get a hot house is the best thing to grow!!

Basically, you are a young man on an old abandoned farm (owned by your granfather many years back.) You have 3 years to get the farm running again..You have to make money in all possible ways (fishing, Picking things from the grass and selling them, vegetables, fruits, and more) You also have the oppurtunity to have all your basic farm animals (cows, sheep, A dog, Horse, and even fish!)
Also to make it more intresting..There are five single women in the village..if you are nice to them...and give them gifts and talk to them a lot, you could end up with a wife! Of course, this game is challenging so nothing on it is easy! You have to have house extensions before you can marry her, and as you know, house extensions cost money! To make it more challenging, before you can marry her..The heart has to be red or yellow. Hehe, Yep, when ever you talk to the girl, or give her gifts, There will be a heart at the bottom...The colors are...
Black-She could care less about you. (no offense,lol)
Purple-Your her friend.
Blue-Crush
Green-She likes you ALOT
Gold-She is in Love

When your fish is more than fifty, a man will come and give U a new fishing rod.It is gold in colour.But,I don't know how can i buy strawberry from the supermarket.Do U know that arter U buy a kitchen,U can cook some food.Now,I have fifty recipes.some of them are given by the villagers.They are very kind,when U give them presents,they will give U some recipes.I have won the first prize in the horse race.harris took a photograph for me.I put it on the cupboard.

For example if you have enough money to buy chicken, just buy it.. do not hesitate and collect your money to buy cow coz it will take you quite sometime to collect the money. Considering the hard work thats involved can be pretty tiresome but it does reap its reward, wooing a female, growing stacks of crops throughout the year, earning cash, enlarging your house, owning a dog, horse, sheep, cows and chickens.
And of course how can I forget the FESTIVALS they are the most relaxing and fun things to do in this game. There are still heaps more but what I have to say is endless

I'm currently in my 12th year and still going. My favorite part of this game is probably doing cheat codes. (It has goten me REALLY far.) But if I could change 1 thing I think it would be either being able to own a cat or to be able to have more babies(there soooo cute) I think this is one of Natsumes best. Its always so hard to turn it off. You just want to keep going and seeing what will happen next. I cant belive people could absolutly hate this game sooo much.

GRAPHICS: some of the graphics are breath-taking especially the view from the top of mothers hill
MUSIC: the music is good. It's not the kind that you would normally listen to(pop, rap, rock, etc.) but it fits this game perfectly.
GAMEPLAY: I've never had a major glitch

FUNFACTOR: It gets more fun when you makeit more fun...think about it.
ORIGINALITY: A little like the sims but a lot more realistic and more fun other wise, ya it's original.

people say it is a gay game till they play it then they want to buy it cuz they love it so much then i am the only one with the game cuz the game is so rare where i live. if you find the planting overwhelming then ask the harvest sprites to help you water, harvest, and feeding animals. i tell you to buy it. if you use gameshark this game is a pest cuz there are over 200 codes. a nice fiture is cooking, marriade, kids, cows, chickens and muck muck more in the game so buy before it is to late.

The last harvest in Autumn was a big event; it was held on the day of the full moon so they could work later with the moon's natural radiance to see by thus it was called the harvest moon. Harvest Moon allows us to experience a simpler time; only keeping the basics of technology (a refrigerator, a phone, a 4-stationed television set, etc). Though the 3-d graphics in-game could be a little better, the manga-style graphics that pop up when you talk with a villager are very well done. I like the way the "chat" graphics of the people you talk to change according to their moods. The music fits well with each season; Spring sounds soft and refreshing, Summer sounds up-beat and lively (the instrument seems to be a steel drum--very Caribbean sounding), I forget what Autumn sounds like but Winter sounds quiet with a bittersweet air. The gameplay is near perfect, unless you're in a hurry; sometimes jamming the control stick and holding down the "run" button can cause you to slip sideways which in turn can make you lose something valuable if you were trying to throw it in the shipping bin or give it to someone. Otherwise gameplay is quite fun and extremely addicting! Don't get this if you have too many responsibilities outside of the game or you will find yourself neglecting your r/l chores, friends, family, mate, pet, etc. I have not yet won the game (you get to keep th farm if you do a good enough job after 3 years--most people say you'd have to try hard ~not~ to do well to lose) so I
don't know if it ever has an end (you get to play ~indefinitely~ after you win--but I don't know if there's a cap to how long you can play). As some have said, it is sim-like but kind of rpg as well. It also has some action in the forms of competitions, fishing, and just trying to beat the clock to get everything you want done before the day ends. I have never seen another series out there that came near this series of games. If I could afford it, I'd get every system it runs on
and every rendition of Harvest Moon. Back to Nature is extremely valuable to me; I had to get it at a used store and was quite upset that at least two of our electronics stores said they wouldn't be carrying it anymore because there wasn't enough demand for it (even though they had sold out and ~I~ ~was~ demanding it! Grr!).

Ive never been addicted to any other game like this- and I NEVER get addicted to a game. I play it every night and I cant say enough good things about it! It rocks- I go away from the game with eyes and thumbs sore from playing too much. Sure, its a little tough compared to the n64 version (I LOVE THAT ONE TOO ^.^)but wheres fun without challenge? I know it may sound a little boring, growing and working on a farm, huh? WRONG!! | Harvest Moon Rocks!!! | | A gamer from Canada says (3/Jul/2001): | I didn't know the maginfiance of "Harvest Moon BTN" until my friend introduce me to it. He told me to borrow it and play this cool unique game for a few days.
At first, I didn't pay much attention to this game until when my friend e-mail me and asked if I like the game or not.
So I quickly started to load the game and started playing. I WAS AMAZED!!! The game was absoutely amazing! The storyline was totally dramatic and creative. And as for the game itself, I totally love the cooking part and the getting-to-know-the-characters-better part.
It is more than just a farming game. You can woo your favourite girl, and you could also be a matchmaker and match the couples up, you could also enter the festivals that is like a mini-game. Also, the fun never ends, you can't finish this game really, I LOVE THIS GAME!
So I told my friend if I could borrow it for a few more days and then so on...until my friend got ticked at me and told me to buy my own copy. =)

I first played the 64 version at a friends house. It looked pretty stupid at first. But within an hour I was hooked. Then I saw the psx version. Of course, I bought it. It is VERY addictive. It has better graphics than the 64 version, better gameplay, more festivals, and more characters. You can also do alot morethan in any other version. I reccommend it for gamers who don't like bloody and gorey games.

I never knew this game would be so competiting and fun. I then bought it for my ps and gameboy. I still play it now because I think it's a little bit eduacating cause you get to learn about life(style).

Where I live, games like this are very hard to come by because of football fans. In the UK, if you want a football game, then you get a huge choice, but if you like RPGs, then if you want one, then you may as well forget it. I rented this game because I was unsure if it was as good as Final Fantasy 9, the tenth rpg to come to britain. I only rented it for four days, and it was nowhere near enough. I din't want to take it back, but I did. And I bought it over a week later, and now I can't stop playing it. I have to at the moment because the british version has a bug in it where it crashes if your farmer gets married, so I've had to send it off to get fixed. I highly recommend this game, it is the most refreshing game ever. It has clost to perfect that you can get, the loading times can be a pain, but you just ignore them. This is great, if you're someone who's looking for something new to try, then I recommend this. It may sound odd, a farming sim with a strong dose of real life, but that doesn't matter, because they're the best parts in lots of great parts. Buy this and enjoy the best game ever, and if Natsume release a new Harvest Moon, I hope it's even better than this, if they can do that anyway. I hope so, this is perfect, fun and once you play, you just can't stop.
