It is the best b-ball game ever designed by 989 sports because... |

NBA Shootout 2001 is by far the best basketball game ever designed by 989 sports. I love the way the passes are delivered, how everyone can't dribble on the same level. This game would've gotten a 10 if it wasn't sooo easy to make a three-pointer. Come on, can Glenn Rice really shoot a 3-pointer in Luc Longley, Penny Hardaway and Cliff Robinson's face? The graphics are outstanding (the best it can get for a playstation). I love the way the crowd gets into the game, stomping, screaming, and even booing at the home team. This Game definitely beats NBA Live 2001

Offense: Cool, Defense:... |
| Corey from Sandy, USA says (28/Dec/2000): |
I think the graphics are pretty good, and the create a dunks pretty cool. as for playing the games offense its really good. i like the way you must time your release point for the ball to go in. Defense: When ya play defense its really tough. Its almost impossible to block a shot and to try to switch your player closest the ball, it doesnt even work. If i rated it for evrything but playing defense: 9. But the defence is s o bad i give it a 6.

Great attacking, bad defending |
| joe from Liverpool, England says (7/Jan/2001): |
I think this is one of the best b-ball games for playstation for all its different features. However one thing lets it down, bigtime. That is the defence. Once the oppostition has the ball, unless you catch a rebound or they throw it and you catch it or they go out of bounds, all unlikely, they score. I mean can you actually steel. Before i go on, if you can steel contact me by the e-mail me at jobo< remove me > at i-love-everton.com. The graphics are good. All in All i would i would give this game 9 out of 10 only the defence is bad.

Gameplay: YESSS!! Presentation: ??? |
| A gamer says (15/Jan/2001): |
Well here comes basketball season 2001 and my traditional pick of the best b-ball game on the market. So I looked you guys up and got good reviews on it...and for the first time I actually opted for shootout over live. Overall the game kicks you know what. The only problem, though, is the ugliest menu screens in all of sports gaming. 989 needs to go to the nearest studio with a big sign raised high above their heads reading: "WE NEED ARTISTS!!"
It made me want to turn it off....but nevertheless...I kept going and low and behold: the game rocks. Live's got shootout easy as far as presentation goes but unless you're one of those whom enjoy staring at the menu screens for long periods of time waiting for the next 60 second demo while sipping your gin, go buy shootout.
