It is a great motocross game, better than the frist one by much. Great graphics and cool new moves makes this one of the best games out there for plastation. One of the great new features out there is how life like it is.

Should be named Championship Skiing 2001 |
| East Bay Ray from Bay Area, CA says (31/May/2001): |
REAL MOTOCROSS BIKES DON'T SLIDE LIKE THIS! It's ridiculous once you get up to the 250cc championship. It doesn't help that you have the ANNOYING "Shush" sound effect to remind you that your bike can't hold a corner....."shushhh,...shushhhhhhhhhhh". It's like you're friggin skiing! (Or flat-tracking) Why doesn't Funco release "Bruce Penhall's Championship Flat-tracking 2002". They apparently have the 3D engine for it!
Soundtrack BITES, and the whole game seems RUSHED to market. I have now won the championship in both 125CC and 250cc by winning ALL 1st places....so what do you get? Well, the 125 championship merely unlocks the 250cc championship (Wow eh?). Winning the 250cc championship unlocks a crummy "crash video" that is shown at the intro of the game anyway! (Most of it anyway).
I then won 1st in the career mode which unlocked a short and grainy LBZ jump video - AGAIN, MUCH OF WHICH IS SHOWN IN THE INTRO OF THE GAME!
CM2001 merely took "Supercross Circuit" and applied their own 3D engine to it. You now race on all (mostly) genuine tracks rather than fictitious ones like in the first release. Some tracks it works (High Point, Millville), but most are horrible. The ultra loose "feel" of RC MX-Championship just doesn't work here - not even with the "powerslide button". In fact, the powerslide button is to be avoided all together. You need to be talented with the throttle and choose lines like a road-racer. (If you are a veteran of Grand Turismo, you're set)
What sucks about the game? I have come to the conclusion that you can't unlock a third class of bike - the factory works bikes. You can ride these customizable bikes when in either championship or career mode, but NOT in practice or "single race" mode. STUPID eh? You can't practice difficult tracks for the season with the bike that you will actually race...and there is a HUGE difference. The factory bikes are SO much faster and jump SO much further than the stock bikes offered in either practice or single race mode.
In fact, once you play the game with a factory bike (again in either career or championship mode) the game absolutely SUCKS to play with the regular bikes - you case EVERYTHING, never clearing the jumps. Also the bikes there are SLOW. (the regular 125s are a joke).
Why didn't they allow a practice session at the start of each event like Supercross Circuit does? (DUH!) STRAIGHT into the event COLD on a bike you have never ridden.... Also, why didn't they allow you 3 tries at a good finish per event like Supercross Circuit does? If you get taken out in the first turn (which happens CONSTANTLY at Red Bud in the 250cc championship), you will be lucky to get a 4th. So you figure, I'll restart. NOPE! You can't restart!! You have to "Retire", leaving the game all together and back to the start screen! Choose "championship", and wait through ALL the load screens to get back where you just were. POOR!
Here is the BIGGEST complaint....what is up with the bikes hitting you over and over again! It's as bad as "Motocross Championship" for SEGA 32X. Remember that game? All the other riders actually PUNCHING and kicking you every chance they got?! Here, it's about the same. The Artificial Intelligence is amateurish. The bikes "hop" into you from the sides - each time, you come to a near complete stop and it takes an agonizing few seconds to get going again. The booklet says "double-tap" the throttle when this happens to recover quickly - still takes forever.
Graphics are dated....they may have been considered good a few years ago, but the bar has been raised. Go look at the recently released ATV Motocross game for Playstation 2 - DEMOLISHES this game. If you are reading this and want the ULTIMATE Motocross game for PC, go find the European game "Silkolene Motocross Championship". THAT game is as real as it gets. You can choose "rider perspective" for one of your views. Racing in that view is like watching real video footage from a helmet cam on your PC monitor. It's nuts - the lighting, sound, dust, physics. Just an amazing game.
I unfortunately bought RC Championship Motocross 2001 - rent this before you buy. I just dumped mine on eBay (Hope to get SOME money back). LONG LIVE SUPERCROSS CIRCUIT!

IT IS AWESOME |
| corney_1 from darwin says (24/Aug/2002): |
Hey I really liked this game. It was really awesome. I really liked the way the bikes slide around the corner. It really makes it a lot easier to go around the corners. I have only hired this game for a week and i really really like. I dont care what other peoples opinions are but i think its the best motocross game that you can buy on the playstation. The only thing i didnt like is hoe there is a tiny little space on the side of the track where the jump does not come all the way out. It really annoys me when i get stuck in there.oh well i have to give this game 10 stars because i am a diehard fan of motocross. I have my own bike so i understand the game a lot more. well i have to give this game a score of 10. Its my favourite game.

Not the best game i have played |
| Nunny from Australia says (15/Sep/2003): |
This game was way to easy to clock.
I found that on my first go i compleated the championships.
The single player mode is also way to easy to have any fun at all i have to sit at the start line untill the oponents to go around the first corner and then catch up, i am usualy in the lead by the second lap. also the game is so unrealistic. being a motocross racer my self i have never seen a motorcross track where you have to go over the start gates to compleat a lap, and when do you ever case a huge double and keep on riding. i didnt like this game much but it can be good to play against a friend.

it kinda stinks,...but kinda is fun |
