I was Shocked |
| Gianni Aiello from London, England says (26/Nov/2000): |
Like I said I was shocked when i got smackdown 2. I still think its the best graphic wise and gameplay but the little things let it down. eg. table matches are not all that enjoyable as all the moves are very unrealistic through the tables also there are only two moves i can do (if you can help me let me know) these are piledriver and powerbomb. Also like everyone is saying season mode has been a faliure (other than cutscreens) Long loading times and lack of chances to fight with created wrestlers really let it down. If i am sounding negative its because I was ready for a game with all the bad aspects of the last game to be better and more but it just has not delivered.

PS Best Wrestling Game |
| Omar from Queens, New York says (26/Nov/2000): |
Smackdown 2 is the best wrestling game out. You have a TLC, laddee, casket, Hel in a Cell, and so much more. The create a wrestler is too awesome. with the season mode, you'll be playing this game for months trying to unlock new cheats and codes. The only problem with this game is the loading. Royal Rumble sucks because of the excessive loading. I quite frankly dont care. This game is the best.
|
It is the best game out there, but it has its problems. |
| Hellcat22 from Kearney, Ne, USA says (26/Nov/2000): |
It might have more matches, more wrestlers, etc. But unfortunately it also has more loading time. The thing will spend as much time loading in season mode as you spend wrestling in season mode. And in season mode when you skip matches, why can't it just tell us the winner? We don't need to see the energy bars of each guy go down, that's pointless, just tell us who won. And then on the Royal Rumble mode it takes 15 seconds for each new wrestler to come out, now if you go through the customary 30 wrestlers that's seven and a half minutes of loading time, especially if a lot of wrestler get eliminated back to back. It just gets retarded. And why can you only do two moves in the table match? I can think of at least 10 moves that can put someone through a table, not counting the top rope ones. But otherwise the gameplay is great, the characters are a lot better not to mention they have the movement tendencies, that all of them have, I just wish there wasn't so much time loading. But don't get me wrong it is a great game, the best out there, if you liked this review, email me at Hellcat22< remove me > at madhive.com, and tell me if you want a review to another game. I will play the game and write a review.

Smackdown 2 great game but buggy |
| NaturlBrnKlr from Winnipeg says (25/Nov/2000): |
I really loved Smackdown! but I was and still am disappointed with 2. My reasoning is that my created wrestlers arent being injected into the storyline in Season mode. I know they're there cuz I get these piddly little 1 minute backroom scraps with guys but I never get any matches unless I join a tag team. It's really the only problem I have with the game the gameplay is excellent and the graphics are nice. Where its really lacking is in sound. I like the announcers that RAW and WARZONE had not 2 or 3 tracks of music, the new simming is annoying too.

WWF Smackdown! 2 Is Awesome |
| _Dragon_ from San Pedro, California, United States says (24/Nov/2000): |
This game is so awesome. The first thing you notice in the game is that the wrestlers are a lot smarter than in SD1. There are more ways to do moves, and it's a lot more realistic too. There are a lot more moves too, but not the most I have seen. I have no Idea what that guy was thinking when you cant Powerbomb people through tables, cause you can. The season mode is great, but you have to take advantage of when you get to fight, cause popularity is everything in Season mode. And you dont get to fight in like 3 weeks. But after your character famous the game goes smoothly.

Smackdown two is twice as good as the first! |
| The Ghostwriter from Los Banos (CA) U.S says (23/Nov/2000): |
I just went and got this game. I already have the first one and it dosen't compare to this one.I mean a TLC match and not to mention the, ladder, table, hell in the cell, cage, slobberknocker, special ref.,hardcore, and pin anywhere matches are great. And over twice the same number of backstage areas than the first.AND YOU CAN DRIVE A FORKLIFT!! And the double team moves are the best I've seen in a lot of the games I've ever played! And the create a wrestler mode is even better. It combines attitude and smackdown 1 options and the create a TAUNT! And a creat a stable is crazy. If there is a wrestling game for the year 2000 this is it.So if you are looking for the best I mean THE BEST wrestling game of this year go get it!

Its Good not Great... Read important |
| Smackdown 2 Kid from USA says (23/Nov/2000): |
First of all. Smackdown 2 is the greatest game on the wrestling market, but just like everyother great game there are kinks. First off you will get tired of seeing people pictures and there are too many cutseens this is hard to understand if you dont have the game but it is not a great game, my suggestions to most people is get the game, you will be dissapointed dont get me wrong but its worth getting dissapointed every now and then

Smackdown 2 is for those that love wrestling, and those that don't. IT IS THE GAME!!! |
| Colin Hunt from Manchester, ENGLAND says (22/Nov/2000): |
SMACKDOWN WAS ONE OF, IF NOT THE GREATEST GAME ON THE PLAYSTATION. THEN CAME THE SEQUAL.
Smackdown 2 will make you love wrestling if you dont yet. The graphics are amazing. All the favourite wrestlers and finishers are included, even the interviewers and presenters like Micheal Cole get in on the action. You can wrestle anywhere and unlock new areas in the season. It is definately worth the money. YOU WILL NEVER EVVVEEEER SEE THE LIKES OF IT ON THE PSX AGAIN.
It's the best and thats the bottom line cause STONE COLD said so!
|
WWF SMACKDOWN 2 IS THAT GOOD!! |
| Mark Harris from Birmingham, England says (21/Nov/2000): |
It is one of the best wrestling games I have ever played on any console in the world. I think that if you own a playstation one and you are a fan of wrestling or just like beating people up, then you definitley shhould save every penny you have got and go out and buy the game!! There are new and improved wrestlers eg: Scotty 2 Hotty, Grand Master Sexay, Chris Benoit and a lot more. There are also hidden wrestlers to be discovered. There are loads more matches to play aswell such as: Hell in Cell, Table matches and Ladder matches. IF YOU SMELLLLLLLLLLLLLL WHAT SMACKDOWN 2 IS COOKIN!!!!
|
WWF Smackdown 2 the best wrestling game ever! graphics, gameplay are top and the greatest match Hell in a Cell! |
| Matthew Whitworth from Bolton, England says (15/Nov/2000): |
Smackdown 2 is made by THQ. I thought that Smackdown couldn`t get any better but along came Smackdown 2. The create a charactor mode was the only thing that let smackdown down but on smackdown 2 it`s improved greatly now u can alter everything from head to toe.The Matches are great too, especially Hell in a Cell. You can put people like Kurt Angle or Chris Benoit through the top of the cage.It is the most realistic wrestling game to date but the only thing that lets this game down is length of loading time in Royal Rumble. This isn`t such a bad factor as when you look at the rest of the game you think how can you make a game any better? And to be perfectly honest with u I don`t think that we will never e e e e ever get a game as good as this again on the psx If you smell what THQ are cookin!
|
WWF Sucks like a monkeys nipple |
| Matthew Heaton from Manchester,England says (15/Nov/2000): |
THQ Have released the worst wrestling game ever. After playing the table matches and Ladder matches, I find they are totally unrealistic, as You can`t powerbomb people through tables and the ladder match it`s just plain luck if you get the belt or not. As for the charactors, they look quite unrealistic. Test looks like a girl and Big Vis just looks like a big bomb. If there's one game you should never E-V-E-R buy it`s Smackdown 2. Trust me, Raw is much better
|
Brilliant |
| Matthew Heaton from Bolton, England says (15/Nov/2000): |
Smackdown 2 is the best wrestling game i have ever played. I like all the special matches (e.g. Hell in the Cell, Ladder Match etc) all I have to say is this game rules. I recommend that every one who likes WWF should buy it and even those who don't, I think you should buy the game, this is the best wrestling so far...

The best wrestling game on the playstation! |
| Lightning Hart(Ben Richardson) from Middlesbrough,England says (14/Nov/2000): |
If you are a fan of wrestling and computer games, then you will absolutely LOVE Smackdown 2: Know your role. The gameplay is pretty much the same as its predecessor, which is definitely a GOOD thing, as the original's was top notch. The graphics haven't had a radical improvement, but the clipping and collision detction is much better. Sound is good, featuring all the superstars' theme music, plus some snazzy sound effects.
Features
The game has many, many modes of play, all of which are incredibly enjoyable. These include; Table match, Hell in a Cell, Ladder Match, Cage Match, Casket Match and many more, all are innovative and very much like their real-life counterparts. The game also includes multiplayer matches - pretty standard in a wrestling game you may think. However, with the ability to mix and match options, use specials features and much more, the two to four player modes will last you forever. Which brings me on to my next topic:
Lifespan
The game will last a very long time. The special features (Create a-wrestler, manager, stable, taunt, etc) will last an age alone, but when combined with the fantasic and realistic season option, the multiplayer and many other hidden features, you have quite a tremendous game on your hands, which is great value for money.
Summary
Smackdown 2: Know your role is a fantastic game for wrestling fans-or non-wrestling fans- alike, and is an essential addition to your Playstation library. If you go out and buy one game in the next month, make sure its this!

You'll never -E-V-E-R- want to play another wrestling game again! |
| Kieran Pickles from West yorkshire, england says (7/Nov/2000): |
From the moment you turn this game on you get a real sense of what the WWF is actually like. With fueds and an ace storyline (that even follows what actually happened in the likes of Backlash and Judgement Day).
The wrestlers look like themselves (just look at Steven Richards!)and do as they do (just look at Rikishi dance!)
the gameplay is ace. It's something you can play again and again, especially with "Create a Wwrestler" which you can tweek every aspect, from moves to apperance.
Smackdown 2 takes every good thing form the first game and make them better.
Go buy it now!

Great!! Deserves 10. |
| Tom from Liverpool, England says (5/Nov/2000): |
Smackdown 2 is the greatest wrestling game yet. Hell in a cell is crazy. Climb on top and then last ride them through the middle!!
Table matches, casket and iron man matches make the game cool. The Rock's improved, new people, eg. too cool and Chris Benoit. You can also do double team moves but I don't know how the heck to do them. Season has a really good storyline and at the same time you unlock new players!!
|
The best entertainment going! so far! WWF! |
| FLaSHY_GNoMe from USA+UK says (5/Nov/2000): |
I think WWF Smackdown!2 has gotta be the best computer game on the market up to now! this is because if your a wrestling freak, or just find a real thrill of beating the hell out your mate you'll treat this game like the bible (if you were a priest!) but one of many best features are the hell in a cell matches, tables, ladders and one of the best - announcer tables that you can piledrive your best buddy through without him getting a bruse! Also, there are countless wrestlers! So if you're up for late nights and a lot of addiction plus a lot of caffine - well this will make your day! It's made my life! (not to be sad!). This is a must for all PSone owners! so work as hard as possible and save every last penny until you own this treasure! Thanks to THQ!

The Best Wrestling game on the Planet!!!!!!!! |
| Kevin O' Hanlon from Dublin, Ireland says (4/Nov/2000): |
This is the best wrestling game i have ever played. Who ever said WrestleMania 2000 was better than Smackdown they were wrong. And if they say it now there very very very wrong. The season is brilliant and the tables and caskets and ladders are brill too. The graphics although nearly exactly the same as Smackdown 1 don't confuse you in any of the new modes which I thought would happen. The game doesnt go off the original slugging wrestling type of game which is good but bad. It is bad because sometimes the outlandish things they add in are so much fun. But you can only do a certain amount in a game which makes this a definate 10 out of 10. Get out and buy it FAST!!!!!!!!!!!

It's That Damn Good! |
| Suzie W from Newcastle upon Tyne, England says (2/Nov/2000): |
Smackdown 2 is totally what every WWF fan needs! It has everything that made the first Smackdown good, but so much more. There are a lot more characters and a lot more special types of matches (although it takes a while to get used to them - someone got so bored of not knowing how to throw someone else in a casket that they accidently jumped in an shut the lid on themselves!). Also the custom character creation is so much better than the first Smackdown (could it actually be any worse?) and it's debatable if it's better than the first on attitude. Also the season modes actually follow storylines that have happened in the real WWF show. All put together, this is a great game, you getta get yourself one of these!
|
Smackdown! 2 = Da BomB!! |
| SlipKnoT says (2/Nov/2000): |
I have played the complete version, and I must say that this is THE BEST wrestling game ever created! The season mode was SUPER! Austin was unlocked at Backlash, just like the previous Backlash. And he totalled the DX Express like real man! Although you have to unlock the TLC match, I have tried that match and the best move I have done is a Swanton Bomb off the ladder onto the table! That is possible, and damn! Boom! The best game ever made. Although physics are questioned in this game(Have you ever seen Matt Hardy or anyone else for that matter get up immediately right after being thrown off the Cell?), It has the most "Create-a" in wrestling history. Create-a-Taunt, stable, PPV, wrestler, even a manager. Bottom line, the best game I have ever played before. Sure to go down in history as the wrestling game that revolutionised the Genre. GET IT NOW!!

The Best WWF game ever! |
| A gamer says (27/Oct/2000): |
Smackdown 2 is the best game ever. With "Hell in the Cell" matches and table matches you can't go wrong. Plenty of hidden characters and stuff to unlock in the career mode. "Can you smell what a good game they've been cooking?" This game is a must have for any WWF fan.
