Wasnt the best in the series but was awesome anyways. |
| Scorpius from Logansport, IN says (1/Mar/2001): |
FF7, I think, will always be the best FF game in the way of a story-line but 9 was the the best graphically. my only problem with 9 was that i noticed a lot of frame skipping and for some odd reason the cinematics kept crashing my PSX. i think that square may have pushed the PSX as far as it will ever be able to manage.
|
It was fantastic, but ff7 is the best so far. |
| ~Cassanova~ from Edmonton,ALberta,Canada says (5/Mar/2001): |
I really enjoyed ff9. It had very good graphics and a really neat story line. It was a bit corny some times but believe it or not, i found my self laughing at some of the retarded jokes. This game was worth my money but i always find myself re-playing ff7 just because it is the best game psx has ever made, graphics or no graphics.

9 is good but not king in the FF series |
| Swirly-Chicken from Stockholm,Sweden says (6/Mar/2001): |
As far as the Final Fantasy series come, I think that there was some things missing in nr. 9.
1: The item list in both 7 and 8 were much more extensive.
2: Magic for all of the characters.
3: Summoning magic for all of the characters, but in a way that didnīt make the game worse, but i think that I just missed it.
4: it was way to easy to get to the end.
5: The monsters was, ah man, they where just to easy to beat.
that goes dubble for the bosses...
6: Somehow I think the hole world was to small, I think there where more to do in the other games somehow, it just felt smaller.
The CGI was fab. I just loved they way they animated the characters in them, and lets not forget the music. Composed by Nobuo Uematsu, he did a grate job on them.
FF9 is over all a grate game, so if you havnīt played it yet hurry up and buy it...
I would like to buy the CD.s but $49 is to much i think..
Final Fantasy IX was verry good, even with the bad stuff, I canīt wait for FFX, I have to have it..

Hello to everyone that enjoys RPGs! I will say for one that I have been a fan of the RPG world since I was a little girl, about 4 years old. Many people are shocked I'm a female, but I am. The video game Final Fantasy caught my attention since then & I am almost 17 years old on this day. I still love Final Fantasy & other Squaresoft RPG games. I have played Final Fantasy IX & beated it already. I have to say it is one of the best games out there at this moment. The plot is stunning & well understanding. The gameplay is awesome. Great job in everything in my opinion. The musicial cues are amazing. I was very impressed that every song that I heard on that game, I loved it. The characters are so smart & great. They look odd, but so unique. That's the thing about FFIX, it is all unique. The battle system is just like the one from FFVI, (FFIII in United States), & I prefer it that way. The animation makes FFVII second best because this time you can actually see the characters' faces the best way instead of them looking at blocked people. I also love how to get a Chocobo & the Mog Mail. I hope they make E-mail on part X. (LOL) I have played almost every Final Fantasy game & yes all of them are wonderful, but FFIX has made an improvement to the RPG industry. I cannot wait to see the Final Fantasy movie & to play the new Final Fantasy game. I am very exicted for all of these great news. I hope Squaresoft continues these Final Fantasy RPGs because no matter how old I get, I will keep on playing them! Final Fantasy IX itself is good enough for the winter that just recently passed. Final Fantasy made my imagination come to life because the game is just so real. It makes you addictive & open minded that you too have to care about the world & people. Like Zidane Tribal says, "You don't need a reason to help people" & I agree.
Peace & keep the fantasy alive!

After a disapointing FF8, FF9 picks the pace back up! |
| Chris from Springfield, Ohio says (12/Jun/2001): |
I got FF9 for christmas and have played it almost every day since. The graphics are good and the battle system is decent. However, FF9's plot sucks. When I play any of the Final Fantasy games, and I have played all of them, I want to think I am doing something important, not just finishing a love story. Although the love story is slightly repressed, the ending sequence is full of useless crap. I would have liked to see more cinematics and more stuff blowing up, although the vine thing looked good and the matrix rip-off I have forgiven. I hope Final Fantasy X also references the previous Final Fantasys (That was the one thing I liked most about this game).I also hope they get the Final Fantasy magic back in the game and stop trying to make movies, although I heard it would be good.

Solid, but lacks graphics of previous games |
| Bryan Jervah from Calgary, Alberta Canada says (14/Jun/2001): |
This was a good game, but not the best they have come out with, as it lacks the graphics of FFVIII. Over all, the sound, and the storyline is pretty good. If they would fix the graphics, this could be the best game they have come out with. A nice try though.
|
Good game but.... |
| Aidan says (24/Jun/2001): |
This game is good unfortunately the story is FAR too short. I don't like saying this but I don't think that a game will ever be as good as FF7 for me. The story is way longer on FF7 and I liked how they went into character backgrounds even though it has nothing to do with the story. If you don't go into character backgrounds then you don't know who they are.
Another thing I miss from FF7 is the flash-backs. Sure a lot of people say that these are just boring and anoying, but I liked them.
Last thing they did wrong is the graphics. I know they are good but I like the screwed up, football shouldered, short and ugly characters from FF7. I just think they "fit the scene" and it means they have more time to work on the story which probably had something to do with the story being so short in FF9.
Thanks for listening ;)

Comon Guys |
| Paul from USA says (29/Jun/2001): |
I loved this game. I loved every FF game (yes I HAVE PLAYED EVERY ONE). As each game progressed, the story got better and better. This Final Fantasy proved to be one of the best. Sometimes the game got a little boring, I know, but there has never ever been a bad final fantasy. Give Square credit, they manage to pull off a grat game every time.

Ammazing game with ammazing cut scences |
| John says (1/Jul/2001): |
WOW, just brilliant! The graphics are good, the soiund it good not to mention all the ammazing attacks included. Come on, Vivi gets so many incrdable magic attacks. I know it's 4 disks and takes a long time to comlete (I haven't done it yet, but I'm on the last disk) but it really is fun. Well not much else to say. Except about the story line, I don't think it could have been much better. I haven't actuaally played any of the others but... I'm gonna get number 10 on the PS2!
|
Sooo coool! But, not the best... |
| A gamer from Douglas, Isle of Man says (4/Jul/2001): |
Final Fantasy 9. I got this as a prsent for doing well on a mid term report and was disappointed at how short it was! I got to disk 3 in as many days although it was 3 very happy days... Any way.
Graphically, FF9 is great, crushing all previous ffs under foot. Its music is perfect. Unfortunately it's storyline isn't deep enough and is a little bit simple. And if you think about it does bear just a teeny bit of similarity to ff7.The characters have little developement and you don't get much insight into their backgrounds.
Hey! We got rid of that crappy junctioning though right! Oh, but the ability learnig sucks even more! It's so damned annoying when your favourite character is a right wimp with no useful moves whatsoever! Sigh.
Still, it's a bloody sight better than ff8. ff9 beats ff8 easily but loses to ff7 pitifully. ff9 has some nice new points like those ickle thought bubbles and ates. It's still a top hole game and should be bought by any and all rpg fans. And isn't Steiner annoying!

The best of the playstation series |
| russ from stockton,usa says (7/Jul/2001): |
This is best on the playstation yet it has a good story it is not hard to to follow like FFVII it wasn't short like FFVIII it was well rounded good graphics a new look of the summons and the A.T.E. was cool it brought more depth to the other characters and depth to the story. The only problem what ever happened to all of the really powerfull summons like knights of the round and zero bahamut..............overall that is the only problem to ame i think it is the best game made for playstation yet a good way to bid farewell to the dying system

The best game ever |
| stranger from UK ( wales ) says (20/Jul/2001): |
Final fantasy 9 is the best game ever. Other final fantasy games are boring. The game play is good, the video`s is the best I have seen and the battles are awesome. The graphics in final fantasy are amazing, btter than one of the others. The life span, well or I have to say is that I could`nt stop playing because I got really in to the game.
The fun factor is good, except for the chocobo`s tresaure which get`s a bit boring and frustrating when you can`t find any chcograpths.

The best Final Fantasy today!! |
| DJ Soup from BC, Canada says (6/Aug/2001): |
This game has it all, superb graphics, superb play, superb controls, awesome effects, great story lines and battles, and some of the best characters around. This has to be one of the best designed games on the PS1 to date. There is ALMOST never any slowdown except for very jam packed parts but that doesn't mean anything. It happens in every game. I would choose this over FF3 or FF7, both of which I have played, and at $25 canadian (used of course) how can you go wrong!
|
Super! Just Brilliant! |
| Yuna from Japan says (7/Aug/2001): |
Just a little *Spoiler* Just a little...
I loved the game. I thought it was just.... great! I played the game like... 3 times, and I find better things every time! I thought that the characters were really... They were "ok" characters. My favorite are Freya, Eiko, and Garnet. Zidane was the strongest, but not my favorite. Eiko was a brat, and crazy to like Zidane, but I really like summoning, so she was cool... kinda. And Garnet. I think she had the most troubles in the game, but she didn't do so much to help herself... and I thought that the battle modes were cool, I liked the magic more. I think the ship thing was kinda cheap, but it was fun. When I got the chocobo, I got to go as far as red, then I just stopped, 'cause I wasn't getting anything done.... I wasn't getting any experience points, so don't spend too much time on your chocobo! (But they do give you pretty good items) Over all, I thought the FMVs were the best! They had awsome CG! I can't wait for Final Fantasy X to come out!!!
|
I'll be amazed if any game company think of a better game than this. |
| Karl from Liverpool, UK says (16/Aug/2001): |
The game is so cool. I got as soon as it came out and haven't been off it since. The graphics for the GC movies rule and the gameplay makes up for in-game graphics. Leaving and entering rooms seems more realistic than 7 or 8 because the players don't just vanish from sight. The sound is nore impressive and movement doesn't seem as rough. I'd say you would play the game for a good few years before you got bored if you were a rael role play- ing fan. The card game and sub games are also more challenging than the rubbish 7 and 8 ones and the chance to pause the game where ever you feel like is more useful, no more having to switch you playstation off without the chance to save.

About FF9... |
| DJ from Washington, USA says (17/Aug/2001): |
This game was a great game. It had nice summon spells, magic spells and things like that. But FF7 had a better storyline and was more had a better plot. In this FF, the plot isnt focused enough on the storyline. Thanks for paying attention.
PS: I am making a Final Fantasy Domain site which includes the Final Fantasy numbers 7 + 9. Although 9 is not up yet because I just started this site about a month ago. But I do have FF7 up, but its not complete. It includes Midi's, Images, Wallpaper, Biographies, Everything on Limit Breaks, a FAQ on breeding chocobos and a Materia FAQ. But I update it at least once every two days. There will be much more to come on it, so dont worry yet. If you would like to check it out the URL is:
www.djpff.homestead.com/ff.html
or
www.realmff.cjb.net
Thanks.

Kicks Ass |
| Belle from Colorado Springs, Colorado says (18/Aug/2001): |
This game is the best game I've have ever played and I've played a lot of games. The graphics were so perfect, it was like real life. The plot was great it had a lot of twists and turns. My favorite part was the ending, I'm a chick so I totally love the happy ending, it was unsuspecting. I also loved the parts when you can choose what to say. I've only played FFVII and FFVIII so i can't really compare it to all of the Final Fantasy games but this one so far is the best. The characters weren't perfectly strong and they got beat up a couple of times, it showed that they had weaknesses. One problem with the game though was their size, the were too short and their heads were too big for their body. But all in all this was one of the best games ever.
|
BEST EVER! |
| John from Toronto, Canada says (3/Sep/2001): |
Fanal Fantasy 9 without a doubt is the best rpg game for playsation. It has everything you asked for the best grpaphics in the Final Fantasy series with amazing FMV movies with lots of action. It mixes the best of the other final fantasy's and brings in new features. It has one of the best ending ever, it has some hard bosses but in the end it will be worth it to see how the game unfolds. After beatin FF9 it will be hard to play another game because nothin will even match Final Fantasy 9.

| Brandon C. from Toledo, Oh says (5/Oct/2001): |
Talk about a GREAT GAME!!! I could play Final Fantasy IX for hours without even blinking. So far my favorite is FFIX, but i cant wait for FFX and FFXI for PS2, i hope they are even better. I got FFIX last christmas, and I play it almost every day. I have beaten the game more times than I can count, but i just can't finish that game and not play it again. I think this is Squaresofts best game yet. You still have to give them credit for puting out a great Final Fantasy every time, there isn't one FF i don't like. In FFIX i ecspecially like the Graphics and the story line, but Princess Garnet and Zidane needed to hook up a long time ago, it took to long in the game for them to finally realize how they each felt about each other.

THE BEST GAME I EVER PLAYED! |
