Final Fantasy IX brings the best of both worlds. |

This should be simple. Final Fantasy IX did what Square said it would. It took the best of the old, and the best of the new. Like most gamers, I didn't find the post-SNES FF's very interesting, with a futuristic plot, and loss in a sense of magic systems. In FF9, Square took the medieveal world of FF6 and earlier, and mixed in the Animation, graphics, and familiarity to newer FF gamers if the Post-SNES era, and gave Gamers a new game with the best of both worlds. the ATB battle system is as good as ever, the class-magic system and the exp. system both make returns, and the Ability Junction system is much simpler, making it an easy task to Junction abilities instead of 40 min. (FF7) or 30 min. (FF8) it shouldn't take much longer than 30 seconds to junction all your abilities. In short Final Fantasy IX delivered, and square yet again achieved what they said they would do.

Okay, I haven't played all FF games, but I have attempted FFVII and FFX, and am almost done with FFVIII. VII and X didn't really keep me interested, but I think FFVIII was the best. This game though, was really good. I really don't see a difference in graphics, I just don't really like anything that isn't 3D like FFX. The storyline was basically easy to follow, but it had some twists in there. I fell in love with all the characters and either you end up loving them, or you end up hating them. I didn't have any problems with the Eidolons, all you have to do is know a little vocabulary, like what "Summon" means and you're good to go. The side quests were fun, I really liked finding Mognet Central and playing Chocobo H&C. This is a great game to get because it's not complicated to use, but it still gives you a little challenge to get through the game. I love it!

I'm on disk 2 and so far consider this to be a pretty good game. I really like the more medieval settings and less tortured ability system (as compared to VIII). Nice graphics, very nice movies and music. But it doesn't feel like I have much control over the game, which makes mini-game particulary important. Unfortunately it appears that there is a flaw in my game disk. My card game does not adhere to the rules that are outlined in the game guide or the internet sites. For example, when I successfully flip a card, the card to which that one points do NOT usually flip too. So the execution of combos is not possible. I haven't heard anyone else mention this problem, though I know there were a lot of complaints about the card game's random nature. I would really like to be able to play the card game but even so I've been glued to my Playstation since I go FFIX.

I really enjoyed the game immensely. I like the mini stories concerning the characters, you understand the characters more and I think it makes the game very enjoyable.
The way the game is put together is really nice, instead of just rushing through the game, you enter little stories on the side. I also really like Vivi and the other Black Mages.
For some odd reason, I really liked the Black Waltz 3, I kinda thought he was funny.
I actually kinda felt sorry for him in the final battle, he stops the train that Steiner and Garnet are on and when the Waltz steps out, he can barely stand....I guess if you nearly got blown up in South Gate, you wouldn't look so hot either.
Anywhoo, I really loved the game and the graphics and the music. I hope Squaresoft makes another game like that.
P.S hey Squaresoft...put more of those cute littlew Black Mages in there!!!!!

Final Fantsay 9 is the best game ever made for any game system. Ever. It combines a great story line with great graphics and awesome weapons and abilities. I think that you really get to know the characters in this game and the way that they interact is incredible. The only bad thing about Final Fantasy 9 is that it ends. The relationship between Dagger and Zidane is fun to watch and the way all the people react to different things that happen during the course of this game is also cool. If it's boring during the beginning, just wait because once your characters become more powerful and get better items, the game gets reallly great. I've only played this game once and it only took me about a week and a half to beat but I can't wait to play it over again. This is the best game ever made and i recommend it to every person who has never played it.

Final Fantasy 9! I have been waiting for this since I threw Final Fantasy 8 in the trash because it stunk and since I beat the boring Final Fantasy 7. The game goes back to where the Final Fantasy series belongs...In the past! The gameplay is incredible. The fights are more important than in previous games. Fighting is the key to getting money, which is the key to getting weapons to make yourself stronger. Which you have to do because you level up and your strength does not increase. THAT ADDS CHALLENGE!!!! I love the story line is very very good and also it has depth this time. The characters are more likeable in this game. I mean come on who else didn't want to kill Barret on FF 7! Movies also make it a very fun game. All in all this is the game that will revive the greatest series ever...FINAL FANTASY!! GO buy the game!!

This game is good unfortunately the story is FAR too short. I don't like saying this but I don't think that a game will ever be as good as FF7 for me. The story is way longer on FF7 and I liked how they went into character backgrounds even though it has nothing to do with the story. If you don't go into character backgrounds then you don't know who they are.
Another thing I miss from FF7 is the flash-backs. Sure a lot of people say that these are just boring and anoying, but I liked them.
Last thing they did wrong is the graphics. I know they are good but I like the screwed up, football shouldered, short and ugly characters from FF7. I just think they "fit the scene" and it means they have more time to work on the story which probably had something to do with the story being so short in FF9.

I think that this game is actually pretty darn good. Although I think FF7 is the best game of all time, if you combine this game with sephiroth, materia, and the character development from ff7 it quite possibly would be the best game in the world. FF9 basically sucks all the rest of the goodness out of the playstation. It is a welcome change from the futuristic look of FF8. BTW, did I mention that FF8 was one of the worst games possible? Confused me to no end. Although princess Garnet does look a lot like Rinoa. The only REAL problem I see with FF9 so far is the fact that normally, the characters are all lopsided, like Dagger's head is bigger than most of her body. Come on guys, FF8 even had good looking normal characters. Anyway, this is an awesome game. Keep up the good work. You could only improve from FF8 anyways

Okay, Ive played many games, many Final Fantasy. This is by far, the best in the series. Enchant your world with the world of Zidane and the others. This is one of the best games out. Many different adventures, Bosses, Level up System, And a cool Ability System. How can any other game be as good as this one? This is a perfect game. Its graphics could use work but it has great music, A trading card game, Mini Games, And even humor. This is not a game for all. It does contain profound language and stuff like that. So if you don't like games with cussing, Then this won't interest you. This is a game that hit stores wild. I had it and It gave me a fun time. I still have dreams about this game and I was one of the first to play it. I got it as soon as it came out. This is by far the best Final Fantasy game ever!

I personally never liked video games before. My brother-in-law has FF9 and I can't get enough of it! How could those people think that FF9 is the worst game? It is not, down to the last second it keeps you guessing and learning new skills. The side games are really cool, the grapics couldn't be better. The music creates a great background, especially during battles and the movies. The originality is great! I mean, I love writing stories of magic and love, but never in a million years could I have thought of something like this story. The game being four disks long makes it more fun 'cause you don't play it for ten minutes then quit. Some say that it's a waste of your time and life, but I totally disagree. This game gives you great hand-eye coordination, and really is the greatist video game ever!

This game was a great game. It had nice summon spells, magic spells and things like that. But FF7 had a better storyline and was more had a better plot. In this FF, the plot isnt focused enough on the storyline. Thanks for paying attention.
PS: I am making a Final Fantasy Domain site which includes the Final Fantasy numbers 7 + 9. Although 9 is not up yet because I just started this site about a month ago. I got FF9 for christmas and have played it almost every day since. The graphics are good and the battle system is decent. However, FF9's plot sucks. When I play any of the Final Fantasy games, and I have played all of them, I want to think I am doing something important, not just finishing a love story. Although the love story is slightly repressed, the ending sequence is full of useless crap. I would have liked to see more cinematics and more stuff blowing up, although the vine thing looked good and the matrix rip-off I have forgiven. I hope Final Fantasy X also references the previous Final Fantasys (That was the one thing I liked most about this game).I also hope they get the Final Fantasy magic back in the game and stop trying to make movies, although I heard it would be good.

the final fantasy series is one of the best series available to play. Final fantasy 9 did "feel" as though it lacked something that the others had accomplished. All-the-while it is still a good game. I find deeper meanings in all of the series, and i believe that if anyone plays only for face value then they have missed out on some important lessons. Regardless of how the game looks, plays, or differs from others, you can always find a facinating story to follow by. Final fantasy 9 is a good mix of the old and new of the series, but I did feel more from Final fantasy 8. Each character can be identifies with according to different peoples life experiences, and allows you to place yourself within the game. I didnt enjoy the graphics as much as 8, but it does have originality.

i want to tell you that if you are checking this page because you dont know if you want to buy it.And if you are reading this message I'll tell ya tou buy it. This game rocks. but final fantasy VII(7) or VIII(8) are better.

This game is the best game I've have ever played and I've played a lot of games. The graphics were so perfect, it was like real life. The plot was great it had a lot of twists and turns. My favorite part was the ending, I'm a chick so I totally love the happy ending, it was unsuspecting. I also loved the parts when you can choose what to say. I've only played FFVII and FFVIII so i can't really compare it to all of the Final Fantasy games but this one so far is the best. The characters weren't perfectly strong and they got beat up a couple of times, it showed that they had weaknesses. One problem with the game though was their size, the were too short and their heads were too big for their body.But all in all this was one of the best games ever.

Im not dissing da game, but it could have been much better. The story line was ok,but it should've been more complex. The ability system wasn't so good either. The materia thing in FF7 was better cause u could buy da crap and choose who whould be equiped with it. So you could choose who was ur white or black mage and who was ur knight. I also thought da story line was to simple to follow. Also da characters were weird. Wat da hell was up wit Quina? And now da thing i hate most about FF9 was their side quests. I mean 7,8,and 10 had much more and they were all fun! 9 didnt have much and fun ones too. And their card game was way too confusing, so it wasnt fun. But over all it was pretty good....I mean all FF games kick ass! U really cant diss any!

Talk about a GREAT GAME!!! I could play Final Fantasy IX for hours without even blinking. So far my favorite is FFIX, but i cant wait for FFX and FFXI for PS2, i hope they are even better. I got FFIX last christmas, and I play it almost every day. I have beaten the game more times than I can count, but i just can't finish that game and not play it again. I think this is Squaresofts best game yet. You still have to give them credit for puting out a great Final Fantasy every time, there isn't one FF i don't like. In FFIX i ecspecially like the Graphics and the story line, but Princess Garnet and Zidane needed to hook up a long time ago, it took to long in the game for them to finally realize how they each felt about each other.

Final Fantasy IX was one of the best games I have ever played. It seemed as though I was drawn into the whole story. There wasn't even one spot where I was bored. Even the music was pretty good, unlike VIII. The graphics were pretty good too. It had a great story line, and really kept moving. The best part is that there are so many items and sidde quests that even after you beat it you want to go back and get all the items that you missed earlier in the game. There are only a few minor set-backs. One is that it doesn't give you enough info on where and how to get some of the better weapons. It has to be one of the greatest games I have ever played. Although Final Fantasy VII is still the best game there is.

This game is a perfect blend of the two previous FF games. FF7 and FF8 are gems in their own right, but FF9 took the best of each and made it its own. FF9 has great music, good graphics, wonderful characters, and a storyline that will keep you coming back for more. Even though the game didn't get the attention the other 2 games did, it is still a big improvment over the other two games. FF9 keeps up the Squaresoft tradition of high replay value. The game has soooo many secrets, you will play through it to make sure you found them all. So, in closing, the game has the best of the old FFs, and the best of the recent FFs. It is definitely worth owning, and should make a lovely addition to anyones collection.

I love Final Fantasy IX. I bought it January 2002. It has a great story line and I love the summons and the magic. The characters are incredible. The abilities. I don't think it has any flaws what so ever. It was the first Final Fantasy game I have ever played. The gameplay rocks. I like how you can set what controller you want your characters can be controlled on, so you can play.... two players. Right now I am at Ipsen's Castle. My favorite character is Vivi. I wish I were in the game my self, it is so exciting and never ceases to amaze me. I want to beat and beat it again over and over again. So I hope many more people buy the game and enjoy it as I have. Thank you.
