Best one yet |
| Dabunzae says (19/Oct/2002): |
In my oppinion this is by far the best one yet and i have played all but 10. this one has alot of the orignal things from the older ones such as the abilities are limited to certain classes like black mages can only cast black magic and stuff like that. The story is one of the best yet and the characters arent big like final fantasy 8. the big characters made it seem less like final fantasy. the card is kinda cool too. all in all it was a good game but it needed more side quests.

My favorite final fantasy game/rpg |
| nin from baltimore maryland USA says (10/Nov/2002): |
I really enjoyed the story that came with this game and the graphics. I wish they had more like this with the same type graphics.. It remindes me of a story book with beautiful pictures. This RPG game Had me laugh as well as in tears and in the end I was screaming. This usually do not happen with me and these RPG games. I am usually taking a headach pill in the middle of playing. No offence to the other final fantasy games. I just couldn't follow them like I did FF IX.

Funny, Romantic and just plain cool! |
| Majin Buu from Nottingham says (24/Nov/2002): |
When I asked for a Final Fantasy game I had the choice of 7, 8 or 9. I had a good look at the graphics and I thought 8 had the best, however I was wrong! I got 9 due to the fact it was brand new to england but when I played it I was soo glad I got it! Not only are the graphics good but it has a great scence of humor to it along with a briliant storyline. I have finished this game over 20 times now and its always made me cry, smile and laugh a little. My advice is BUY THIS GAME!

ONE HECK OF A GAME!!!!!!!!!!! |
| zidane from manila,philippines says (30/Dec/2002): |
Whats the matter with you guys? The game is very very coooool!!!!!!!!! Not the best ff but it is one of the greatest ff in history. I love the stories of vivi and zidane dont forget garnet. Only 2 things lack...first only garnet and eiko can summon gfs or eidolons.Second is about the trance thing. I hate it bec you need to wait a long time just for 1 battle! The weapons are fantastic. Zidane doesnt need any magic. His attack sweeps the enemy !!The chocobo thing ? Its great although quite boring bec of the finding treasures stuff. Its one heck of a game!!

Doesn't get any better than this!!! |
| Ty McDonald from Grand Island, Nebraska,USA says (6/Apr/2003): |
I love Final Fantasy IX. I bought it January 2002. It has a great story line and I love the summons and the magic. The characters are incredible. The abilities. I don't think it has any flaws what so ever. It was the first Final Fantasy game I have ever played. The gameplay rocks. I like how you can set what controller you want your characters can be controlled on, so you can play.... two players. Right now I am at Ipsen's Castle. My favorite character is Vivi. I wish I were in the game my self, it is so exciting and never ceases to amaze me. I want to beat and beat it again over and over again. So I hope many more people buy the game and enjoy it as I have. Thank you.

Old School Remains the Best |
| Bloody Vixen from Malaysia says (17/Apr/2003): |
Final Fantasy Nine has something that the last two games didn't; heart and a great simplicity that was drastically missing in FF8 and FF7. First of all the gameplay is simple, easy and even challenging, and the summons this time will not appear until the second or third disc, which is a very welcoming change since the last two games' could bring a tall man down on his knees with the unwanted repetitive summons FMV. The story may not be 100% original considering that a few of the characters in it have striking or uncanny resemblance with other characters from the other previous titles. But the re-play value is high, and sometimes you just wish that the story could be just a little longer and more mini-games should be inserted in it. I should know since I could manage to finish ever-single mini-game in the series with 100-hours of dedicated playing. The FMV and animations are more than perfect, the ending could shed tears even to the most jaded players, I know that I went down like a baby when the end song finished. Who couldn't considering when you play the game, you could actually feel yourself become one with character, everyone of the unique individuals have at least a tale to tell, a connection to many people out there. The music is excellent and the Song Melodies of Life should go down in history as the most classic love song of the century, but the CD left so much to be desired since it is missing the villains theme-song, sure there is one but it lasted for no more than 2 minutes. And then there is the controversial villain, Kuja, who at first fooled us all with his waist and female-like features. The hero is quite amusing considering that this time Squaresoft has decided enough of the brooding-dark-past heroes who does whatever it is they had too because they were just forced to. Zidane has that cheeky monkey grin(no pun intended) and a soul that can make anyone smile even at the bleakest moment. The heroines are done nicely, except that Eiko can get on your nerves with her spunky, tomboyish, jealous attitudes. There is the other weird character: Quina...not much is said about her/him since she is just a tour guide for the group at a pivotal
session of the story. We could only hope that one day Squaresoft would make another game, which is as special as this, but like in the fantasy world, we could only dream.

Its a review.... |
| Fallen Royalty of Darkness from Georgia, U.S.A. says (26/Apr/2003): |
I love final fantasy. This is the first video game I have ever played and I'm glad it was. At first I thought that video games were for boring, stupid people who did nothing but sit at home all day and dream of living. But I was wrong not all video games are for shallow humans. Final Fantasy gives you a thrill. You really connect with the characters and get into the story line. I love going into synthesis shops and making the newest weapons and then getting in to a battle and seeing the cool new things you can do to completely sabotage your enemy. My favorite character is Amarant he's one I can really connect with. He is always making some smart comment about anything but he is always there for his friends.I have played and defeated this game seven times already and the end is quite surprising. You never expect that kind of action out of certain people. So keep playing and you will see what I mean. (I wish that I lived in this game.......................................................................................................)

Final Fantasy IX Opinionated |
| A gamer from Buna, USA says (1/Jun/2003): |
Final Fantasy IX is one of the absolute GREATEST games that i've ever played. The graphics were awesome, the storyline was one of the best that i have seen out of lots of games. I bought the game when it just came out for $49.95, and it was worth every single penny!!! Final Fntasy VII, and X were very good, but this game outrates them by so many points that it's not even funny!!I played this game so many times, and i will continue to play it! it never gets boring to me!! i loved the cast of charcters, and the best thing about the game is how they kept you on suspense of what Zidane actually was. I give this game a rating of tem points every time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Perfect Medium |
| HostileApostleX says (13/Jun/2003): |
This game is a perfect blend of the two previous FF games. FF7 and FF8 are gems in their own right, but FF9 took the best of each and made it its own. FF9 has great music, good graphics, wonderful characters, and a storyline that will keep you coming back for more. Even though the game didn't get the attention the other 2 games did, it is still a big improvment over the other two games. FF9 keeps up the Squaresoft tradition of high replay value. The game has soooo many secrets, you will play through it to make sure you found them all. So, in closing, the game has the best of the old FFs, and the best of the recent FFs. It is definitely worth owning, and should make a lovely addition to anyones collection.

This Game is the best |
| Dave from England , UK says (9/Aug/2003): |
If you dont have the game u need 2 get it. This role-playing games is rtealy fun and the main character Zidanne has folen 4 The Princess (code name - Dagger). You where supposed to kidnap her but as it seams she wants to run away from the castle. You and the Team will go through many encounters with monsters. theres 1 bad thing about this game is u have to get to a moogle to save the game and somethimes they are like 1 hour apart from each other. It is a complicated game and needs 4 disks but its worth it in the End i give ths game a 10/10.

Great |
| Stealth from Indiana says (13/Aug/2003): |
I thought that Final fantasy 9 is a great game. It would get boring if it was the same type of game play over and over. I like all the final fantisies and I have played them all. Graphics I don't care much about but it has to have a great story line. I also like it that they change the battle system in each game and how it works. Changing the games makes it more interesting and I am sure RPG fans will agree with me, is all RPG's had the same exact type of battle system then it get extremely boring. My love goes out to all RPGs out there, especially Final Fantasy 9.

Rock On, Squaresoft |
| Di Di Dooby from Palmdale, USA says (19/Aug/2003): |
This has got to be the coolest FF yet! True, the seventh game's plot was way better, but the graphics in this one fully blow FFVII's away. Every aspect of Final Fantasy IX is totally beautiful and amazing. The characters are interesting, the world in which the game is set is well-developed and magical, and while I'll admit that the action can be a little slow at times, those of you who think this game is "boring" should try getting thru all of FFIII! Good god I wanted to brutally murder every single character in that stupid game by the time I finally forced myself past Disc 2. There is NO FREAKIN PLOT. It totally rambles on and halfway thru they're like "Oh wow, we all knew each when we were this small!" and I'm goin what the f***??? Biggest failure in the Final Fantasy series—too bad, because the rest besides number 8 are awesome. Anyhoo. Back to FFIX. I love it. I've beaten it several times and have taken care of almost all the side quests, and I'm still not bored with the game. The only problems I have is that the final boss is SO easy to beat. I defeated him on the first try and I'm like dude, where's the challenge? But otherwise, this game is beyond cool. Those of you who haven't played it, should. And props to Squaresoft. I thought FFVII was incredible, but you guys totally outdid yourselves on Final Fantasy IX. Peace out.

IT ROCKS!!!!! |
| Bevan from Tasmania says (6/Sep/2003): |
I think this game is just as good as ff7 and ff8,I especially like the music and how the the final boss is $#< remove me > at ! hard!(I had a hard time beating that $#< remove me > at !in thing). The chocobo mini game was a pain doing it but I liked it because you get rare items doing it.(I like the other mini game as well)Call me crazy but I think hades is easier than the last boss.(I haven't beat Ozma though)
When I played the game I thought it was a bit corny at the beginning but later in the game, somehow I really, really liked it!

FF has gone mideval |
| game_gurl101 from Katy (Texas), USA says (7/Jul/2004): |
Final Fantasy IX (9) is certainly not one of the best FF games in my book, but its still high up there. I love the mideval style thing, and the flying ships are awsome. Plus the graphics rock!
You start this game off with a teenager named Zidane Tribal. The odd thing about Zidane is that he has a tail. That will be explained as you progress in the story. Anyway, you are in a group of thieves and your mission is to break into Alexandria Castle and kidnap the Princess for some reason......I forget the reason though, sorry. You break in by taking part in a play that they are holding that year. While your teamates are busy with that, you steal some guard armor and go in search of the princess. When you find her though, she escapes from you and runs off. This sets off a huge chase with you, the princess, and one devout guard. After you have caught her, she asks for you to kidnap her. o.O Well, at least you dont have to force her. So yall escape from the castle but not before her mother, the queen, starts firing missles at your ship. In the end, you end up crashing in the woods.
All in all I think that its a good game. One cool thing is that you can watch different events when this little thing pops up and you press select.
And this game is filled with so many different races. You have one teamate that is so weird, you cant tell if its a guy or a girl. And then theres the black mages, and many others.
Its kinda like visiting the past of FF. I mean, back then(with the first ones) only certain people could summon monsters and cast spells, its the same here.
And I know Trance is a real bitch, seing as how you cant control when you use it, but I thought of it as more of a challenge. And besides, it makes your character so insanely strong (in Zidanes case anyway) that it would be really wrong if you could just control it at will.
Anway, I think its a really great game and you should definatly buy it. By the way, I LOVE the ending of it. Even as you role through the credits you get to see little parts of every FMV, kinda like a small retelling of the story. And the end FMV (after all the credits) was soooooooo awsome. ^-^

Diss FFIX and die! |
| George xie from Brooklyn, New York,USA says (11/Dec/2004): |
I dun mean to brag or anything.....but IX was actually pretty great. It wasn't like FFX or FFVII. Its graphics were great for an PS1 game ...i would say it could even pass as an early PS2 game. Its sounds were okish the music themes were great they changed everytime somthing different happened. My faveorite final fantasy "was" FFVII but it seems i have a new one now. OH Yeah to u FFVII freaks out there i only like FFVII for the story line not sounds or graphics or anything else. #1 FFVII graphics sucked so bad my eyes hurt from playing. Their hands were squares -.-;Anyways FFIX story line is great it was not original like the others because for once the main charectar of an FF game HAS A TAIL!!!Each charectar had their own personality which was really good. I give this game a fun factor of 9 out of 10. I wish they made a sequel to this game like they did for FFX. GOT problems with my review...email me and we will "discuss" it out.I typed up this review beacause i had finally beat it due to its 4 discs so i can't say it has a short life span. The side quest were hard and the secret weapons took alot oout of me but i have acheived the stage where it all pays of.
