This game is the best game ever and i got some s**t to say to you f**cks out there who have anything bad to say about this game | | Erik from Riverside USA says (5/Aug/2004): | This is the best game ever. The graphics were totaly kick a**, and the world details were insane. It also had a realy good storyline. It was also gave every character their own personality and feelings was realy cool. This game was great. But then theres the people out there who say the game was crap. Well you guys can kiss my a**. Some people complain because the game wasn't like final fantasy VII or VIII. Well duu! The game is suppost to be different. What the hell is square suppost to do make the same game with different characters. And then theres you queers who say the characters don't look as good as Cloud and Squall. If your a true final fantasy fan you wouldn't care how good they look. After final fantasy VI people got greedy. They expect the graphics to be perfect.................They're good enough. It's you rich ass kids who alway want everything to be perfect. This was a great game and thats all thats to it. Anybody who rated this game at least a 6 star or higher rocks!!! That is my review, the only reason im gonna keep writing is because this needs to be at least two hundred words long. So I would like to take this time to ask you guys and girls to keep on playing final fantasy games and if anyone ever talks crap on final fantasy you need to talk crap on them. And since im an expert on final fantasy VII and IX please feel free to email me and maybe i can help you out. See ya
| Final Fantasy 9 was the best! | | FFgamer from LA, USA says (1/Feb/2004): | FFIX easily outdid FFVIII on any day. It's storyline was fantastic as well as the battle sequence. Gamers will not be dissatisfied with the game. The story doesn't just focus on the main character, but all seven of his companions too. The game has a perfect mix of action and romance. It also returns to the older fantasy outlook, and not the newer futuristic look of FFVII and FFVIII. Sound was fantastic and so were the FMVs. There still wasn't any talking during FMVs though. Battle sequence has classic victory music to remind players of FFVII and FFVIII. After finishing the game, I just wanted more. The ending also will patch up everything unlike FFVII's short ending that left questions. FFIX has amazing characters, each with their own stories behind them, and doesn't focus on any one character for a long period of time. You also play with other characters, so you are not always the main character. Some characters, you will like, others are rather creepy, but hey, not everyone is going to be sane. In my opinion, FFVII, FFVIII, and FFIX, should all get sequals. They were all amazing. Just to show that Square Enix cannot come up with a bad game.
| THE GREATEST GAME EVER MADE IN HISTORY!! | | A gamer from Sacramento,California says (6/Jan/2002): | Hey,you look up excellent in the dictionary you will find this game right there. Its got great graphics,kick-a** characters, and, great music.Beatrix is so fine.8 was good, but this was mutch better. You have to play this game.Zidane was really cool. His thievery can take away 9999,if you steal enough.Dagger is also a babe. The funny one was Quina because s/he always was hungry.Vivi had great black magic like doomsday. Not to mention no boss has over 70,000 hp.The bosses got a little bit weaker.I like how if you reflect a magic off of yourself, the magic is 2 times stronger then it originally was.
| THIS WAS THE BEST GAME EVER MADE!!!! | | Dottie from ohio,USA says (11/Aug/2003): | Final Fantasy IX is the tightest game ever made.I loved the animation of the movies that were displayed, very life like. The music was very nice especially the "Melodies of Life" song.Which is played alot in the game.As a matter of fact it's my favorite game.I love the fact that not all the characters are human.Kuja looks very tight when he Tranced.Well overall my favorite character is gotta be Zidane. Why?Because he's deep, he likes to flirt with other girls,he's funny and most of all, he's brave!
| FFIX Owns | | SephKid from San Antonio, TX says (13/Aug/2003): | What can I say? This has got to be one of the best FF games ever. I mean, it has everything a game should have. Lovable characters, great gameplay, beautiful storyline. That and the length of this game is very good for an RPG if you spend time doing all of the sidequests and such. Even without doing them, the game is about 50 hours long.
But onto why the game is so good. Starting with graphics. The characters models this time around are chibi, meaning they have abnormally large heads and small bodies. Not bad at all. Unlike the FFVIII characters which were realistic, these characters have a more cartoony look, if you want to call them that. Most people might not like the idea, but it just so happens that cartoony characters portray emotions so much better. While playing the game, you can tell just by looking at the characters what they are feeling. Whether it be emotional or physical. At the beginning of the game when the characters are in a snowy mountain cave, you can see them shivering. Very good, Square! Oh, and the CG cinematics? Man, are those good! Although the characters are not as realistic as in previous games, Square has once again shown us their CG producing powers. The places these cinematics are placed in are also very good. Unlike some games, where a cinematic occurs every five minutes, this game places them in the most important and stiking areas of the storyline. They seem more like an award for playing through the game than something that just happened every other scene. You will certainly enjoy them!
Onto the sound. Again, music is by Nobuo Uematsu. Like all previous FF games, the FFIX soundtrack is one of the best to date. The music has more of a midevil theme to it, unlike FFVII or FFVIII, which took place in a modern time period. From the town music to the world map, all the music in FFIX adds onto the wonderful experience while playing the game.
Gameplay and lifespan are very important in an RPG. Unfortunately, the gameplay hasnt changed much as far as the battle system goes. However, there are tons of other things to do like the sidequests. There are so many sidequests in the game, that its hard to do them all. But if you do, this game is guaranteed to last you about 60-70 hours. Beautiful!
The originality is tops! Although the theme of a Princess and a Thief getting together has been common throughout the ages, FFIX gives the theme an original twist. The storyline itself isnt just one thing like someone trying to take over the world like most games. In fact, FFIX doesnt have just ONE storyline. It would seem like there is a seperate storyline for each character! At some point in the game all existing storylines join to make one of the best FF stories ever!
The overall value of the game is perfect! For about $50 you can own this game and enjoy it for hours on end. Not only that, but once you have beaten it you can play it again from the beginning. After 50+ hours of gameplay, its natural you might forget things. Either that or you can just watch and experience your favorite scenes all over again!
I think thats the best way I can explain FFIX. Unfortunately I cannot get into specifics, like what the storyline is and such. You will have to play it yourself. I wouldnt want to ruin anything. Well, please enjoy the game. It's a wonderful experience! Dont bother renting, this is a must buy!
| Definitely One Of Square's Best | | Robert from Phenix City, Alabama says (9/Nov/2003): | Final Fantasy IX was by far the best looking game in the series, it lacked graphics and sound, but overall it was a great game.
FFIX is a definate game you would wanna get a hold of. The story is great, You play as Zidane Tribal most of the game, it starts off where you have to kidnapp Princess Garnet from Alexandria Casle, but evolves into an epic battle to save the world from the evil sinister Kuja, but along the way you learn of Your Past and the Past of your Comrades. Will You have enough to battle through the fiends and troubles of everyday life, Only the Future Will tell
| I can not believe some of you people | | Kelile Jax from Topeka, Kansas, USA says (17/Jul/2004): | Final Fantasy 9, was a world in itself. The graphics, for PS1 are INSANE, no matter how many of you stuk up rich punks who get everything you want think they were bad. The game is art, square worked incredibly hard on it, and WHY??? To please people, and make money, But who doesnt try to make money? The thing about the game was, even though you couldnt quite grasp what it was about it that made you like or dislike it, I'll tell you what it was. Love. The theme of love is in almost all of the FF games and clealy I haven't gotten tired of it so at least square will always have me backing their work up. Zidane, Garnet, Bandit, Quina, Eiko, Blink, even Mog..... All of these characters will never lose their charm, and they always have a place in the back of my heart, no matter how cheesy it sounds. I'm 14, and clearly I have a better prespective on all of this than you do, except for those 10 star fans out there. I can't express how greatful I am for the final fantasy series of games. I love everything about all of them, and no matter how frustrating anyone else can be about the matter, these games will always be a top pick for america and japan. Wow..... thank you square. (and im not fat, i weigh 128lbs, and im 14 for all you stuck up rich boys)
| how cool can it get!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | | digiridoo from uk says (7/Sep/2003): | Ive completed it 8 times each time finding more secrets out about the game but i still havnt discovered it all.the game has got to much in it for one person alone to discover it all.ive probably discovered all the summons but not all the ultimate weapons.anyway this game rocks even more than driver 2.when i first got it i was instantly addicted.its like the game sucks you in. the graphics are amazing for psone plus theres four whole discs full of the plot which is real quality for your money.so if your new to final fantasy as soon as you turn on the game and if your not new this is a must have for your collection of squaresoft master pieces.
| The Best game EVER!!!!!!!!! | | Joshua L. from St. Paul America says (16/Apr/2004): | When I first heard about FF9 I wanted to try it right away because I've always been a big FF lover. I've played 3,6,7,8,9,and 10. I loved all the games except FF8. I mean where they on drugs when they made that game? The graphics sucked the music sucked the battle system sucked the characters sucked the game just really sucked! FF7 was okay but it wasn't all that great but a hell of alot better than FF8! The only bad thing about FF7 is the battle system and the abilities. The abilities should have been more like FF9 because I like the way that once you learn a technique you know it forever. FF10 was pretty awesome but i didn't like the ending. FF9 was the absolute best! The characters were just so cool! Zidanes the Tantulus bandit, Garnet the hotty, Vivi the deep one, Steinart the warrior that has sworn his life to the royals, Eiko with the love for Zidane, Freya with the depressing past, Amarant the tough guy, Quina with the obssession for food, Brahne the fat greedy cow, and Kuja the creepy guy/girl.The variety of music for when the characters had different emotions and the characters theme songs were also awesome. The battle system and abilities were so great! But the storyline was the best of all of the games. Zidane captures the princess who is wishing to be taken away anyways and then he falls in love with her. Then as the story progresses more and more characters seem to slip their way into the story as well. The ending of the game absolutly blew me away!!!!!!! It turned out just as I had wanted it to. It didn't leave much of an open ending which I love!!! Saying it once again this is the best P.S. game ever made!!!
| THIS GAME IS PRETTY AMAZING! | | Tien from San Clemente, CA, USA says (23/Oct/2003): | OK OK, now I played FF7 and I was hooked...the first FF game I had ever played. IT ROCKED! I beat it SOOO Many times....and when 8 came out, I automatically turned it down, comparing it to FF7...it wasn't even close. BORING BORING game! DON'T GET MAD! That's just my opinion....and when 9 came out...I had to play it...to compare...now the story is a bit confusing......and not quite up to par with FF7...but it was amazing. I mean, the CG's were beautiful, they were plentifull, and plus, it wasn't very long. A long RPG tends to bore me unless it can continue to keep me interested...FF8 failed...but I loved 9...so too all, at least check it out, it's worth a try!
| A Great Comeback from the Monotonous FF8 | | Scott B. from Louisiana, USA says (28/Feb/2001): | Even though it is hard to believe, I rate FF9 right next to the amaizing FF7. I think it towered over FF8's horribly-defined characters and boring plot. There was not one time that I lost interest in the story or battles. The graphics were excellent, though maybe too many FMVs which took up alot of space on the disks. One good thing is that the story was made very clear so any idiot could understand the complex plot with the help of the new ATE system. The side quests were better than any FF that I have played (especially Chocobo Hot & Cold). If there was a downfall to this game, it would be the lower difficulty level and the fact that it doesn't take that long to beat.
But, in the end, FF9 left me with an overall feeling the same as FF7: Depression...... It was surprisingly depressing, to me, to accept the fact that the game was FINISHED and the adventures of my favorite video game characters came to a hault......Great Game!!
| Better to replay | | Patrick Call from Conroe, USA says (4/Jun/2001): | I didn't get the chacnce to get to far into 7 and 8 was fun the first time. Drawing becomes a pain a second time. But for FFIX I think is the best yet! Only thing i think that could be better is the graphics like they will be in the movie. Even so they were some of the best I've seen yet!
| Awesome Game | | A gamer from Compton, California, US says (19/Jan/2002): | This is the best final fantasy game i've played thus far. I love the storyline, movies, characters, abilites, everything!!! If you haven't played it yet, your missing out.

| | Adrienne from Indiana, USA says (4/Mar/2002): | It was a really a wonderful RPG. It had a good storyline, wonderful characters, and beautiful CGs. What I really like about the game was the new ability system. Also I liked the battle system too. I thought the game was kinda short though. But it was still alot fun. I think it was one of square's finest masterpieces.
| ItS tHe BeSt...It ROCKS! | | KiT from San Diego, U.S.A. says (27/May/2002): | First of all, I'm not THAT much of a Final Fantasy Fan a few months ago. The first FF game I played was FF 8 and although I think it was a kewl game, I wasnt that absorbed in it.
So one day, I was on this very computer, chatting on AIM when my little brother came storming into my room, and stuck some new game into my playstation. I wasnt surprised...it happened often.
I asked him what game it was and he said it was Final Fantasy IX.
I was like, "ooooookay" and went back to laughing with my friend about my game-obsessed brother.
Then, one week later, I was stuck at home with nothing to do. That's when I spotted the innocent FFIX cd case and I thought, "what the heck!" and stuck it in my playstation.
I had thought it would be some futuristic game like FF 8 but nuuuuuuu. The theme was my favorite theme! Medieval time!!!!!
So I INSTANTLY got hooked.
Anyways, after a few hours into the game I even got MORE hooked than EVER before.
I loved the characters' parsonalities. I loved the CGs (computer graphics). I loved the story line. I loved the quotes of each character. I loved EVERYTHING about it.
Final Fantasy IX truly is a great game and the best RPG the world will EVER see.
What could be improved? NOTHING.
I'm not picky about games and I can't point out a single thing bad about this game.
For those who havent bought/played it yet, I'll say, "SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!!!"
I have nothing more to say...except for...
THIS GAME RULEZ!!!!!!!!!!
| such a good game | | yashi from Addis ababa Ethiopia says (3/Aug/2002): | Its such a good game everything about Final Fantasy IX is good the graphics, storyline, characters, bosses, technigues and battles much better then using GF's for every battle. All bosses in the game are easy except hades, T+kuja and Ozma(especially Ozma).
| one of the best gamez on the ps 1 aside from ff7.... : ) | | jimmy from canada, quebec verdun says (13/Aug/2003): | well i enjoyed this game the most cause its the first one i never needed help with from my friends to beat and i also enjoyed kujas poetry also the moogles were a great addition to this game the card game was fabulous and the story line i find rivals that of ff7!
| THE BEST GAME! | | Ally from U.K says (28/Oct/2004): | Final Fantasy IX is the best game evereerr! I just completed it today and the ending was BRIL! It is definetly worth the work. I was on level 50-54 when i completed the game, i didn't use any cheats, although i must admit i did have the ffix walkthrough! i just luv all the characters except Brahne(the elephant lady as Kuja says). Foy all you people out there who hav seen the ending...don't you think Zidanes a show of, and how the hell did Vivi...well you know, who `helped` him?!?! I think any of you twits out there who think the game sucks or it doesn't sound good well....ggggggggrrrrrrrrrr!!!!! I started playing ff9 when my sis brought it about 4 years ago and i kept playing it over, and over, and over again until i won!i won! I think ff viii, ff 10 and ff 10-2 are reely cool too! I think lani and amarant have something going on,i also think ruby and blank do too, she's only angry at him all the time because she likes him! I loved the graphics but if u play the game on a ps2 the graphics are worse. The story line freaked ne out a bit because it's VERY twisted.
| Final Fantasy: The video gamer's dream!! | | Justin from San Diego, USA says (23/Nov/2003): | Final Fantasy is one of the greatest games of all time for the PSOne. The graphics were undoubtably the best of all the FF games. It also had the best parts of FF 7&8. The chocobos, upgradable weapons, tons of enemys and puzzles. It totally blew me away. I was used to the usual wrestling games and driving ones, but what I enjoy the most are RPG's and this game truely was my favorite. It wassn't so hard that I lost hope in the beginning, but it was challenging enough that I didn't beat it in 2 hours. Like I said before, it mixed the best of the old with the best of the new. And don't feel bad that FF 10,11, and 10-2 are for PS2. They'll be even better. (I know, I played 10!)
| The God of all Games | | Johnathan from Cairnbrook,PA USA says (3/Nov/2003): | I don't know why you guys can't appreciate such an awesome game as much as you should. The graphics totally blew me away!! It was as if it should be an early PS2 game. The story, like some said, was pretty much like a lot of stories, but it is still pretty cool with the airship chase in disc 1, and the first sight of Lindblum was incredible! And what's up with everybody and FF7? I mean it's okay, but not really that great.
